Re: Do you play Battle for Qinling ?
I voted #1, but sometimes it 's #2... all depends on the amount of teamplay.
Only thing I hate about this map is the J10 because for some reason I always lag on take-off, no matter in which direction, I end up crashing. I have no problems with the EF 's, so I usually have a better time on the British side of this map, even though I barely fly.
The map has great potential, but with no teamwork, it can be a disaster.
I agree on the assets though -> less tanks, more transport.
Maybe the trees should be made static, nobody cares whether the leaves are moving or not... same thing on Fools Road and Bi Ming.

Re: Do you play Battle for Qinling ?
Of course everyone has a a slightly different take on it but I think its a shame that it gets dissed everytime it comes on the server. Just because one doesnt like it doesnt mean everyone has to hear the negatives...

Re: Do you play Battle for Qinling ?
Really? I used to get 20-30 fps on this map with a i845 chipset Gigabyte motherboard, a p4 northwood 2ghz overclocked to 2.7, 2gb of pc2700 DDR2, and a GeForce 6800GS shoved in my 4x AGP slot. those things are like, 6 years old.
Fool's Road was the one that was laggy like that for me. I remember when Quinling was a breath of fresh air, and nobody ever wanted to play Basrah or Kashan because of the 4 hour slogfests. Maybe I'm just getting old.

Re: Do you play Battle for Qinling ?
I like the map. I don't run anything on high anytime, so it runs pretty good for me. (Not the greatest computer setup)

I'm Back.

Re: Do you play Battle for Qinling ?
You'd get rid of a map that was in the making probably since late 2006, because you "had a bad round"?
Go learn and see how hard is to make BF2 maps, then come again.
There's lots of stuff that needs to be fixed and can be fixed, but there is absolutely no reason to remove the map after two releases.
Ontopic, I choose number two. Kinda due the overpowered EF2000 and CR2 and bugged J10 and due this being an armor map it like all the rest lacks armor. Infantry has a lot more chances of survival due terrain and trees than on Kashan where you can only hide behind sand grains.
I like the fact that it's centered around the lake and the west side is space for jets to fly around instead of going out of the map and turning around all the time. This has been said so many times yet people keep complaining about that part of the map.
Trees standing still or not, it has nothing to do with the lag. And trees do move due wind and such IRL unless they're made out of solid conrete.

Re: Do you play Battle for Qinling ?
I usually log off when it comes around because it ends up taking 3 hours to get thru the map, last night I desided to stay and had a great time where my squad was holding village by ourself with some help from the air and default_player in an AAV, had a great round last night and generally last night all the rounds I played were really fun, its been a while since I have had such a good night on the server
Edit: you killed Default jeepo i like having him around since you guys couldnt be bothered to come over and give us a hand

If people are becoming so bored when playing that they have to resort to this immature behaviour I will give them something to do, call it a project. The project is "appeal a ban". - Wicks

Re: Do you play Battle for Qinling ?
This map is rapidly becoming a favourite of mine, the teams are, IMO, evenly matched, so its always close! I was in a tank squad with iCepepper last night, its only a recent thing that i have got into tanking, and im really enjoying it! We kicked all sorts of ass at Coa lmine and pushed up through the east of the map to their main before it was jdamed. (we were Chinese). I DID TK default in his AA vehicle though, my bad!
Keep it on the rotation, i cant understand why so many people dont like it!

Re: Do you play Battle for Qinling ?
#3
I have yet to encounter a game of this that I enjoyed.
I'll stay because I don't hate the map. But, it is a little to large. With all the open space around the mine and village (less so on the village) flags, your fish food as infantry and it can become very... hellish. Half the time I get rubber-band lag and its hard for me to function.

Re: Do you play Battle for Qinling ?
qinling should be played more often!!!!!!! I also feel hills of hammyong should be played too (unless did they take it out of the .75 release?) But i know i am in the strict minority on that one....though D1sposableher0 won't admit it to the public but i know deep down inside he loves that map, he needs that map, and he wants to play it and put it into the rotation.
However, seriously, qinling deserves to be up there in the rotation, it might be a nice switch to put it on after sunset city, mix it up a bit, or throw it on after mestia, or in place of mestia....but it definitely deserves more credit than it gets.....Randy = Ace ! - Warlab

Re: Do you play Battle for Qinling ?
mmmmmm... I think its played too often. Its a given, it takes atleast 2 hours to finish the map. Playing it once a week is more than enough for me.

Re: Do you play Battle for Qinling ?
I actually just played a decent round, without lag somehow, which was nice, allthough i still think it needs to be changed a bot, maybe another flag or two.

Re: Do you play Battle for Qinling ?
adding a few more flags with a more infantry friendly landscape around it would make the map 100x better
