Re: Yesterday's farce (Kashan 32)
I was there for half the round yesterday on the MEC side. I have to say I was guilty of flying a transport chopper. I believe I came in after the pause of the game. Even in the end things were just not good at all. The US team was completely useless and disorganized. There was some debative action going on the MEC side as well. Our assets at least were not fought over. I'd like to give a kudos to anyone who did not go completely insane on either side.

Re: Yesterday's farce (Kashan 32)
sorry for double posting here but I just remembered something else. It was either last weekend or Monday. The server was on Jabal, I was on the US side. I forget what it was, but disposable for the first time in a while I think paused the server and gave everyone "The Speech". The US team was fighting over the Hueys I think. Be forewarned...

Re: Yesterday's farce (Kashan 32)
The reason why I say try something else is because there were only about two infantry squads trying to do anything the first half of that round. Everyone else was around main waiting for assets. I support the rule about commanders assigning assets. But when you have half the team waiting at main "trying out" the vehicles, it leaves no one else to actually do anything useful.

Re: Yesterday's farce (Kashan 32)
I think that the effective use of assets by speciality squads once the CO has shared out all the cool toys, especially in regards to air and armour assets fighting in support of the infantry is a whole other ball of wax and worthy of it's own thread.

Re: Yesterday's farce (Kashan 32)
TODAY'S KASHAN 32
Wow.
I honestly now think that the players that come on the server now cannot handle this map, or any map of this nature.
I play a lot during the day, hey its summer. I have noticed the exact same people flying every single round. You know who you are. I have tried to talk to them and maybe persuade them to do something to help the team, because I know what the result is. You are soon labled as an asset hog and people won't like you at all (I know this from a 1st person experience). I am so pissed off right now that this post may turn out wrong. But, I am venting.
The round started like always. Two TG regulars who I noticed were flying all day and the previous days make a locked squad and used thier knowledge of the rules to get them assigned both cobra's. I nodded my head, but knew it was going to happen. It didn't affect me. Further into the round a player joined a created a 1 man squad. Obviously he grabbed the spare cobra at main and began warming it up. I told CO and the player it was reserved. I support the TG rules and find them an affective way to distribute assets. So, I try to enforce them. But, I do think players should SHARE. This doesn't mean the player who took the cobra was in the right. Soon he began to bash TG and the regulars assigned to the cobras began to bully him and his new found gunner. Soon he left and peace restored. But, it seems to the average pubbie, that TG pushes around all the pubbies. Which isn't what it stands for, at all...
TG is a welcoming community of amazing and nice players. But when you get into a server only to get pushed around. A different first impression is sent.
Also, yes I know the summer vacation has brought A LOT of tardsl. But, hasn't this been a problem well before the summer. So, can we stop blaming this on summer.
I really would like for these maps to be removed from rotation. I really don't see any other solution.
I gotta give credit to those who actually had teamplay.
Thanks Soccer for the awsome commanding.

Re: Yesterday's farce (Kashan 32)
Yea, when I started playing on the TG server about 3 months back I never really noticed who was doing what. But since then, I notice a lot of the same people in the locked asset squads. No offense to those people, you guys are all great. But sharing is something we should of learned a long time ago. Even when the commander assigns assets, there are always some people that load slower or join in the middle of the round. They should be allowed to get a go at it. Let them join the squad and then, if they are still being a smacktard, kick and report. I have a feeling that someone is going to comment on the commander assigning assets. But you can't abuse that rule... some rounds last up to an hour and it would be nice if you guys gave someone else a chance. At some point you should stand aside and let someone else give it a shot.
But as Sonic said, it seems that the majority of the players that play on the TG server, pubbies and TG-tag wearers alike, cannot handle having uber l33t vehicles. We should probably tone the amount of those maps down, and bring out the ones that promote teamwork. Kashan 16 for instance.

Re: Yesterday's farce (Kashan 32)
No offense to anyone at all in this thread, because this is a very civil discussion (that is most likely never going to be read by those that need to learn from it). However, I'd like to point out this whiny "it's my turn!" school playground recess stuff got very tiring and pushed me away from the likable PR community before I could catch the bug.
I'm a big fan of NOT pandering to the lowest common denominator, but it still makes me wonder the effects on the server if maps such as this Kashan were to be dropped from the rotation completely. Can't play fairly together? Then you don't play, period. First complaint = instant map change. Eventually they'll learn? Perhaps not.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Blah blah blah.

Re: Yesterday's farce (Kashan 32)
For every bad game on Kashan, there's always 3-4 good ones. The map is not the problem. The players are. Get stricter, start doling out some perma bans, and I think things will improve.

Re: Yesterday's farce (Kashan 32)
Gille for the most part I think you are right and therefore I think we should start asking the assethogs ingame if they really need to be doing that, just ask in team chat. maybe they will get the idea and try something else, I think I am going to be using this in the future and see what happens.
Why is everyone saying no offense to these guys, if they are reading this they better take offense. I dont care how good a pilot you are when you are a regular on the server you have a responsibility to give new players a good experience. You should also try and broarden your horrison when it comes to the game, try and do some inf or armor or something you dont do all the time.If people are becoming so bored when playing that they have to resort to this immature behaviour I will give them something to do, call it a project. The project is "appeal a ban". - Wicks

Re: Yesterday's farce (Kashan 32)
EDIT: The following post may be offensive to some readers. If you are an asset hog, please take the following into account. Also, ignore the part about removing the maps from rotation. It would be an irrational solution.
Support you 100%
Lets just start calling them out. Guilt will do the rest. I have called out a couple. But, he replied in telling me how good of a pilot he is and how he likes to fly so much. I hope this person is reading this now because what you don't get is EVERYONE LIKES TO FLY! Just some have the will power to say no and try and help the team. I know the odd people hate to fly. But, most people find it a joy to try and gun down same infantry from the air. Also, they would tell me they never fly. They fly everytime a map comes up thta they can. They count infantry maps as a break from thier flying! But, fast loaders who create a 1 man locked squads every single round and fly! These guys are regulars! On the Server every single day. So, now what I'm going to do is keep track of who flys and call them out. If I know they fly everyday, every round.
Another little thing I noticed is a few of these regular asset hogs rarely participate in teamplay. This is usually what they do for the current maplist. Just because I watched these specific players in the past days.
Bold maps create asset drama
Bi Ming - Sniper 50 cal (Even teamswitches to chinese for it)
Fools Road - Sniper for British, Ambush for Militia
Sunset - Spec Ops
Jabal - flys a huey
Battle for Quinling - Flys something
Ejod Deset -Actually participated in a squad!
7gates - Everyone tard rushes...
Mestia - Is a SM
Kashan 16 - flys a BH
OGT - Spec Ops
Qwai - Flys one of the choppers
Kashan 32 - flys the cobra or havoc
Please if you are reading this and see that you regularily preform these roles. Just give it a break and learn to Command, or Squad Lead, or develop some teamwork and you will soon be veiwed as a good teamplayer.
What harm can it do except maybe guilt them out of hogging the assets.
Btw, please, if you see I begin flying regularily Call me out!
Just be like "Hey Sonic! Stop hoggin the assets and SL or something!"
Thanks for your time

Re: Yesterday's farce (Kashan 32)
Removing the maps isnt going to solve the problem. I already pointed out why. If its not planes, it will be tanks. If not tanks, then APCs. If not APCs then humvees. Eventually we'll have removed all of the maps containing vehicles and be paying infantry only. If thats what you really want, then so be it, but the idea that removing kashan is going to solve the problem is ridiculous.
Want to know the way to solve the problem? Remove the problem players. Sonic, you said that the regulars were "bullying" the guy who essentially stole the other chopper. If thats the case, they were just as wrong as the person who took the chopper. They broke the rules. As such, it is your responsibility to report them for their actions. They may not get banned or told to remove their tags, but that is something the admins need to have a "come to jesus" with them over.
Regardless of the nature of gameplay on the server, one of the things everyone needs to bear in mind is that respect is REQUIRED. It doesnt matter if the person you're talking to is a 5 year veteran or on his first round of PR; at TG, you are required to respect that person. If they dont understand the rules, you calmly and politely explain it to them. If they refuse to correct their behavior, you send it up the chain of command and let the admins handle it. It is not your job to berate or belittle people for breaking rules, and if you do, you will find yourself in the exact same boat as anyone else who violates the rules.
The map isnt the problem. The people are the problem, and thats much harder to sort out. Such is life.
Also, sonic, calling people out on the forums such as you did in your post script is not acceptable. Please edit that out.

Yeah, I understand where your coming from ferris. I doubt the maps being removed will change anything.
What set me straight was a nice PM from an admin I respected.
