Re: Yesterday's farce (Kashan 32)
British should rush the river fort I reckon7gates - Everyone tard rushes...
I think only one rule should be enforced with a kick, follow co orders. If there is no order then no one stole your vehicle imo, play with what you have available.
Every bf2 server has this, I always found the solution was to not die if I got in the heli then theres far less arguments/queuing. In addition to that, with pr games lasting longer its not a bad idea to hand a major asset over if you've had it for over 30 mins on a pub game.
The attitude is to queue, fly, die, queue again. Teams would do better if the assets didnt die so often so I'd like to see people opt out after dying once in a vehicle if others are wanting it, or at least dont queue then go back later and see if its been left spare. Queuing is boring and wasteful anyway
Personally I'd never designate assets to a squad sitting around for 20 mins

I really dont care if i fly anymore. If i have the oppourtunity, sure why not. But if i dont well i do something else. I really really dont see whats so hard to understand. Im not gonna sugar coat this because thats not how i am. If you dont get an asset for what ever reason...dont cry and complain and TK. DO SOMETHING ELSE. And if you are an asset hog. GET SOME OTHER TALENTS.

Re: Yesterday's farce (Kashan 32)
Last night Kashan 32 went more smoothly except for some a-hole named vasiline, who can't spell........and who accused the TG community/Admins/higher ups of being apart of a cheating server, but the banhammer came down on him harder than my foot to a ant on the sidewalk.
But for some reason, and this still gets me everytime, why people feel the need to open fire in the main base with their rifles/pistols......i think this will always boggle me, and also the need to fire the side mounted guns on the transport chopper both at main base and while in the air when asked not to........
IMHO no maps need to be changed, nothing needs to be modded, players just need to grow up and act as a member rather than there own special needs case.
We are all more than ready for .8, and I hope this is released sooner than later......and I am also awaiting the start of the school year again, it is something I am looking forward to and I am not even close to being a parent.
remember to !report players, take screenshots, PM an admin and everything will be taken care of, if it isn't in game......and also cutting down on the global chat back and forth (and team chat, and TS chat) is well warranted, don't provoke someone who said something idiotic, it will only make them distract you more.Randy = Ace ! - Warlab

Re: Yesterday's farce (Kashan 32)
I do that if Im bored tbh, especially if its the end of the game. I like perfecting my double tap on that hostile explosive barrel 100m away
A couple of times Ive actually lagged from the firing animation, that sucks so bad. So actually firing the weapon previously would have helped and maybe I'd not end up dead
I'd dont agree with setting off other peoples suppression effect, thats just being deliberately annoying but I do admit to testfire if I feel like it helps me
Firing from the blackhawk yea I agree especially if asked to withhold fire but I also wish my gunner on apc, tank, whatever would fire more sometimes even if a target is not viewable. Heat is so deadly and indirect fire is very effective when the alternative is receiving an AT.
Also theres a firing delay on the BH m134 so spinning it up ready isnt the spam it can sound like

Re: Yesterday's farce (Kashan 32)
Thanks Sonic.
It's always more challenging to command on maps like Kashan 32 because of the added drama that the assets bring, but let me offer a few hints on how I deal with it:
1) First off, it helps to name your squad if you are fulfilling a particular role (i.e. Armor, Attack Helo, Transport, TOW, etc.)
2) Limit the number of people in a specialty squad to the minimum needed to accomplish that mission. For example, a helicopter transport squad should only have 2 or 3 people max... so if you are the squad leader, lock it after you've reached that number.
3) If your special asset doesn't spawn at the beginning of the map, use this time to help the team (and yourself). Tell the CO that your squad can cap the first flag. Since it's usually the closest to main base, you'll have plenty of time to be back at main when your asset is ready to enter the fight. It will also free up the infantry squads to move to the second or third flag, which is usually deeper in enemy territory, and "dig in". This is also a good time to place a rally point if your specialization makes it difficult to do so later in the game. For example, if your squad leader is driving a tank, then place the rally somewhere central in case your engineers need a place to spawn, etc.
4) The assets that have been placed in your capable hands must be used to help the team. If I am CO and I feel that you are working independently of the team, then I will assign those assets to someone else.
5) If you lose a member and need that role filled, use the text function to ask the team for a replacement. Please do not tell the CO because the only people the CO talks to are the Squad Leaders, and they're already busy squad leading.
6) If you wish to leave extra assets in the main base (as spares, etc.), please coordinate this with the CO. Don't tell him that all the assets belong to your squad, but explain that you'd like to keep x number of tanks/helos, etc. as reserve. If it makes sense (and tactically it usually does), then the CO should monitor their use. After all, proper use of assets is good for the team.
7) If you join the game after a specific asset squad is locked (or full), then find something else. Just because the SL won't let you in, or the squad is full, doesn't mean you can form a second squad for the same asset. On the other hand, if you are the squad leader of an asset squad, don't take advantage of that position for more than one map (or every time that particular map comes up in rotation). Share the wealth.
8) No one has any more "rights" to an asset than anyone else when the map first loads up. Just because you loaded first and named your squad doesn't mean you'll get to remain that way. As CO, I look for SKILL, TEAMWORK, and MATURITY. If I don't see those things then expect to be given a different mission.
9) Lastly, there are rare circumstances where assets can win a war without supporting troops on the ground. What I mean by this is two-fold: You have to have infantry squads that can capture and defend flags, but you also have to support those squads! So if you are an armor squad or a helo squad, your primary mission is to support the ground troops. If you keep this in mind as a SM, SL, and CO, then it should help you focus on what's important and not on your personal desire.

Re: Yesterday's farce (Kashan 32)
Success!
Tonight I played Kashan 32. I must admit I questioned staying. But, I am very glad I stayed. That particular Kashan is one of the best I've played in awhile. The team played flawlessly. I never saw a massive chat spam yelling at others to "GET OUT OF THE COBRA". Actualy our team was in need for havoc pilots! For the first time I have ever seen! Thanks to good TS coordination, the tanks rolled with an AAV clearing the path for the infantry capping every flag all the way to the main.
I guess this proves removing the map isn't the solution at all. This map can be very enjoyable if played correctly.
But, what was the solution?
I think the substantial admin presense did make sure no one tried any crap. Having 3 or 4 admins playing on the server makes those playing alongside them change thier attitude real fast.
Also, the overwhelming number of regular teamplayers ensured the rules were followed and drama was kept to a minimum inside the teams, instead of a full blown back and fourth over global chat.
Thanks for everyone who participated in that map to make it such a great success after such epic failures in the past few days.
Kashan 32 can work.

Re: Yesterday's farce (Kashan 32)
Yea, I joined in on the later half of that round. While it was great to see that there were no campers at main waiting for jets. I am sad now that I no longer have free reign over the rest of the kits.
It was so nice to just be able to pull up a HAT kit when needed. Now I have to wait like everyone else.

Re: Yesterday's farce (Kashan 32)
Everyone who knows me in game knows I get very frustrated with the asset hogging, particularly whan it leaves a team short of infantry as I only run infantry squads. One thing I would like to draw our pilot's, tankers and APC drivers attention to is point 9 of A.F. Soccers post. You are there to support infantry, period. The infantry needs to get on the flag, cap it and defend it. You are there to help them accomplish that goal. Don't misunderstand me you are not playing second fiddle, you are a vitally important piece of the puzzle but that is your function.
As an infantry SL there is nothing more comforting or impressive than a pilot who drops you off where you want and picks you up when you need it. APC's are not mini tanks, they are Armoured Personal Carrier's. Far too often I see APC'c leaving main with just a driver and gunner, going off to do their own thing. That is not their primary function, yet it has almost become second nature for players to take and use an APC like a cheap, disposable tank. Hell on the few occasions I have been curious enough to drive an APC I've done it and while I've scored a bunch of cheap kills on infantry my teamates have had to walk to the flag. During these walks to the flag our infantry are exposed, often killed and losing their RP's. The other team picks up the tickets it lost from those kills and our infantry lose momentum.
Imagine my delight when in another round an APC has offered to take me to the flag after I have set my RP in a spot of my choosing, because I didn't have to walk there. We drove on to the flag, disembarked and capped it without taking casualties whilst the APC acted like a big brother and patrolled the surrounding area keeping a watchful eye on us. In turn we kept an eye out for AT crews and watched the APC's back.
When this kind of teamwork is done correctly it is awesome and utterly devasting to the other team. Plus on a side note if the APC does not have a crewed engineer to repair them the infantry SL will usually happily provide a squad member to keep the APC up and running. A win-win. When you do stuff like this you are usually carrying out the Commanders as he intended and therefore doing your job to the upmost of your ability.
There is a scrim on Saturday night against Texas Team Players. Those of you that have participated in these more 'serious' games know that the teamwork is usually extraordinarily high and the post scrim comments on the forums reflect this. Every one says how much they enjoyed the game and how the teamwork made it a pleasure to play etc. Well, this is possible to some degree every time we play, it just takes a little effort and thought.
Believe me when I say that when my infantry squad is getting shellacked because of some dumb choice I made or just plain bad luck/overwheming numbers there is nothing that gets the old blood pumping then seeing your teamates come thundering over the hill to your rescue in a nice bit of kit, just in the nick of time. That's when the TG pride rises in your chest and you think "that kid just saved our bacon and I would buy him a pint if I ever saw him" (assuming he's old enough lol)!TG PR Admins: Fighting for YOU on the frontlines in the War on Stupidity.

Re: Yesterday's farce (Kashan 32)
Exactly!
A couple of Mech Inf squads with armour and air support are pretty much unstoppable in PR. The 1st MIP boys rocked at doing exactly this before they got the ArmA bug and the co-ordinated all-arms attack they put together were a thing of beauty to watch.
Doubly so, when I was Medic in a pinned Inf squad just about to overrun when they came to our rescue.
I've been lucky enough to be part of Brit APC squads on Fool's Road that knew how to use them as intended, but I'm sorry to say that my very limited server time these days means that I haven't seen that level of co-ordination since my last TG Vs. XXXX skirmish..

Re: Yesterday's farce (Kashan 32)
What Wickens said.
I was part of the infantry unit in South Village, and can only praise the guys in it. And was too busy trying to keep the HAT alive by running out in the open to grab it, as we all were, when yet again the carrier was destroyed by tank fire; firing at infantry moving in; trying to fire at tanks, APCs and even the Havok; to notice the bickering at base - until the game was paused.
Though we could see that most of the team was at base and knew what that meant. That it meant yet another round of bickering for a tank or helicopter whilst the rest of us pay with our enjoyment.
Lo and behold, I believe only two (maybe 3) other squads were actually active. One sniper team and another unit trying to accomplish North Village.
Of course we crumpled to the numerous tanks eventually in South Village, though twenty minutes (so it seems) and more was just us vs basically the majority of their team and heavy assets, was something to be proud of. Eventually we were surrounded whilst most of our team, were still at base.
What was not to be proud of though, was that we had no support other than I believe, the Commander. No-one, came to help strengthen our resolve to hold and so enable the team cap flags and put us in a winning position. We had HATS to defend ourselves, and I legged it when we were overwhelmed with one eventually as a tank had come on our backs and infantry were on us. I tried to kill the tank, but an engineer killed me as I of course had been seen doing a runner, so imagine now, we have also lost a HAT and the dismay inside of what has incured for the team, and the game.
None of my squadmates complained of the high death rate we recieved, nor of our squads' actions. But we were disbelieving that the map had turned into this quite frankly childish fight of 'who has what, and I know what and you don't' mentality. It disheartened us. And that carried over for the rest of the map.
I don't blame the admins not letting the tank/helicopter version happen. I have only flew a plane once (in a unpopulated server), never been in the helicopter, and always leave the tanks alone on this map. Because I can't be bothered with the antagonism and know infantry is what counts (and is more fun). This, was unprecidented though in the new low. And a low that will stop because the admins wont allow it and have been patient enough; children, it seems, need to have a reprocussion before they learn anything, and I believe waiting for the maturity to click in has finally run out from players and admins.
Yes, it isn't fun being minced by the tanks outside the Bunkers or North Village, and of course they have apcs, and the AA's crushing you too, because others wanted to go off and do their thing, have their own fun, and have ruined a great game, while you try to stop infantry capping and try to gain a foothold or a win for the team.
Time and again this has happened to the point we are used to it. Though we shouldn't be, and I thank Disposable for pausing the game, and making it loud and clear, grow up, now it stops.
Wickens is right, when he talks about seeing that heli come in or the cavalry arrive in the knick of time. It's a good feeling. Because of people's selfishness though, for wanting an asset or knowledge of rules, or locking mini squads fragmenting the team in which many times I see no infantry squads at all, or perhaprs one before making my own, which is incredible! They are creating a horrid, thoughtless for others or even the game itself, disheartened and sad feeling in players, who leave as the enjoyment is not there. That is not nice and should be addressed.

Re: Yesterday's farce (Kashan 32)
Taip3n! I was in your squad that round. The teamwork alone in that squad made it bearable overall..... We killed a lot of enemy armor/air with our two HATs! I believe I had about two tanks and a havok under my belt, and i believe overall we killed about 5 tanks.

Re: Yesterday's farce (Kashan 32)
Excuse me, but god damn!
I'm gone on vacation for only a week and hell breaks loose. I only skimmed through most of the posts, but ultimately, I think that the ones that actually read or post here aren't the core of the problem. As Ferris said, it's the people, and the only way to fix that is to set a better example, and do your part in keeping the server up to TG's standards. Otherwise, well I'm just glad I wasn't here for this week's Kashan 32's.
