Re: Am I the only one who feels it was rushed sorta?
This release is great, the Slow down in gameplay is exactly what was needed.
Before with the super sprint and super health it was rediculous now its just where it should be. How ever im running my gfx on hight with an 8800 gtx and it sure gives it a hard time for once i might have to notch the gfx down to medium for once so i dont have a 3 min loading time.

Re: Am I the only one who feels it was rushed sorta?
Tonka - I think what you're describing is how a lot of the stress-testers felt after playing for the first time. I don't necessarily agree with the unpolished part, but some of the changes were hard to get used to and, believe it or not, some guys felt a little motion sickness from the new animations.
Now, playing the release again, I don't think the way I did after playing it that first day of stress-testing. I absolutely love this release, and I think the changes with regard to stamina (while I can't believe a well-trained soldier is out of breath after jumping over a wall) are really part of the overall plan to move the game in the right direction. It is moving it from the arcade to the tactical/strategic realm. Fire-fights are intense and a lot longer lived than they were in previous versions, especially at distance. All of the changes are geared toward one thing, really, and that is teamwork - both within a squad and within the team as a whole.
Play it some more, and I think you might feel differently at the end of the week. (Also, you might need to upgrade some hardware)

Re: Am I the only one who feels it was rushed sorta?
I played a full round of Sunset City, 1/4 round of Muttrah and 1/2 round of Al Basrah. My conclusions were this is the best they've ever made. I have an 8600 GTS and I run everything on high, no probs, norm. loading time. Of course while I wasnt looking I bet my computer was like 120 farenheit, but it didnt crap out. My first thing was oh lord slow animations and shorter sprint. At first I hated both, but even in 2 rounds, I got used to them and began to like them. I think they did an awesome job with graphics and I think they might have changed the chopper physics too (seriuosly when Im flying the Merlin on Al Basrah, I felt like I was in FSX-the lag that FSX always has
I cant wait to play more and play the other new maps.
My rating 11 our of 10, awesome job Devs.!!!!!!!!!

Re: Am I the only one who feels it was rushed sorta?
Im glad Im not the only one but of course my head/viewpoint would move sometimes and also I'm wondering why it wasnt always like that. The reload tap freaks me out every timelittle motion sickness
I wouldnt bother complaining about it because Im sure its done deliberately, not rushed whatever but the menu changes actually effect me most.
Reduced map transparency in vehicles screws up something Ive used over 3 years now and will be sorely missed by me. I understand they cant separate vehicle hud from player I guess, the minimap aint nearly as usefull
Also the voip volume, argh
Now when some dude comes on voip screaming down the mic with feedback and spittle flying, I cant rush to the menu and reduce the volumes in game to save my brain.
Not sure if I can mute still but I dont want to and I hate to moan at people for what I could previously adjust.
I tried to alt tab out to alter windows volume but the game crashed on me, doh I will have to setup an inline volume adjust I guess, I dont have one on my earphones
I guess this was done to stop people turning off voip in game, dont really agree its necessary but I see why its done

Re: Am I the only one who feels it was rushed sorta?
I'll make this short and sweet.
Play the new version of PR for at least 10 hours of play time. Be it over a couple of days or over a greater number of days. Give it an honest chance and remember that just about every change was made to slow the combat down. Not CPU wise but time wise. Now you have to plan and prepare. You need squad mates to watch your backs and cover angles and corners. You need to really take it slow and realize that combat as it was was really fast. It will take some time to get use to it. It took us Testers a while to get use to it. As d1sp0sabl3H3r0 said it will just take some time. After a while if you still don't like the changes then that's your opinion but no one I think can make an accurate impression on this mod after just one day even. I know me and Fuzzhead got into it a few times over some of the changes but in the end I told myself that I would give the changes a honest try. So far, I'm digging it. It's making me think and change my tactics which is a good thing. Keeps things new and exciting..

Re: Am I the only one who feels it was rushed sorta?
The stamina issue bugged me at first too, but man, I love it now since you really have to slow things down and plan out your sprints through kill-zones. I used to yell at squaddies "stop running, they can hear your footsteps" but now I just have to remind people to save up their sprints...by the time we get close to the flag, we're all walking anyways. problem solved! lol.
While I have never been shot before, I don't know if the whole "blurry" vision thing after getting grazed by a round or jumping 5 feet over a railing is that great yet...but it sure does further slow the pace of the game and increase the need for medics. Now, it almost seems like you need 2 medics in the squad at all times!
One issue I would like to see explained: limited kits. My squad last night could not request LAT, MG, Marksman, etc 15 minutes into the game... and we specifically never requested one from the start of the game. It was as if OTHER players in different squads used up all the kits and my squad got penalized...even though we were disciplined and were waiting to request those kits until they were needed. (...which just happened to be when an enemy APC rolled up on us and we were unable to request a LAT from our own rally!) I know there is a 10minute timer on dropped kits, but doesn't that only apply to your squad?|TG-X|WAREHOUSE

Re: Am I the only one who feels it was rushed sorta?
The limited kits are shared by the team according to the number of players on the server. If the server is full but other squads are crap and each request 5 LAT and die, those kits wont be available to you till 10 mins afterwards
Before it was like 30 seconds, 2 mins and 5 mins for the HAT so its a big change and makes things awkward.
It could just be 1 crap squad, 1 gets lat dies 5 seconds later then their next squaddie gets another lat, dies 5 seconds later & clicks give up, etc In just 1 minute a single squad can screw the entire team over afaik
Hopefully thats the worst case scenario and it shouldnt be that bad
The individual limit is still 2 mins, maybe it should be higher
My lowest framerate was 30, high twenties pretty much - 2900xt

Re: Am I the only one who feels it was rushed sorta?
THAT BLOWS! I guarantee that is what is happening! Now, 1 undisciplined noob squad can totally screw the entire team by using up kits they probably don't need. Kinda lame, but oh well. Perhaps the Dev's intent is to force squads to request them early and be extremely careful not to lose them...although, maybe they should make it a 10 minute REQUEST delay like you said for the individual or squad as well! Bug? or part of the Dev's master plan?

Re: Am I the only one who feels it was rushed sorta?
I'm more than satisfied with the state of 0.8, but there are a few things that will hopefully be given a little more thought.
The limited kits situation as described above is taking a bit too far in my opinion, since you really would not be so hard pressed to find an AT-4, M249 or M203 in an American squad - and the equivalents for other armies.
I have also noticed a quirk with the light machineguns as when you switch to the undeployed state (3), it will go through an animation sequence where you do a weapons check and so on. This is all well and good the first time you bring it out and might even fit if you switch to binoculars or another item.
However, my issue is that when you switch from deployed (4) to undeployed, it will do the same animation. It does not make sense for this to be happening and even as some form of balance to prevent switching between modes quickly, it does not work so well. You can switch from undeployed to deployed with hardly any delay, it's just switching back that it will run through the animation, which really does not make much sense - if you're firing your weapon from a prone position and want to start advancing, you wouldn't be going through those motions when you do so.. you would simply switch back to using it from the hip or shoulder.|TG|DocZoidIV

Re: Am I the only one who feels it was rushed sorta?
Yes, those Test Lists were a bitch to write. Not to mention I had to take over several test session because the 'lead' people could not make it. A ton of people put in countless man-hours to get this release out, myself included (but little compared to the DEVs). It did not feel rushed at all, but seeing a new build almost every week was not new as those changes would get fixed and we would move on to the next item. I had hoped they wouldn't release it so soon, since we did find a lot of last minute bugs, but I guess that will be solved for .85.
I feel your pain, but the BF2 engine is a pretty old engine. 5 or so years atleast, more than enough time to upgrade. If not, I'd suggest you'd better start saving.
Ironic that statement is. In vBF2 and v.756, you ALWAYS see people running. People would run from 1 flag to the next with little difficulty. I mean, you can sprint about 400+ meters and your recharge time was around 10 seconds at most. How unrealistic is that? Especially if you are carrying 50-60lbs + of equipment. Now, you have to walk, conserve your sprint till you get to open ground and sprint towards cover. Not to mention it makes maps bigger
.
As for the animations, they are fine. They are meant to give those lone-wolf/rambos a disadvantage of not sticking with their squad. If you have people covering your back when you reload/draw your weapon then you should be fine.
There is no such thing as too much reality. What would reality be if there was such a thing as "too much reality." All I can say is, you can't play v.8 like you did in v.756. Improvise, adapt, and overcome. It's pretty much the main thing of every release. And every one gets progressively different. If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.
Give it a few days, rather than one day to make a conclusion.

Re: Am I the only one who feels it was rushed sorta?
Also, regarding the "too much reality" comment:
Have you forgotten the NAME of the mod? When you're striving to make the most realistic game you can within the confines of a specific gaming engine, there is no such thing as "too much reality". If you want things a nice mixture of vanilla and old-PR, PoE2 would suit you better.
Personally, I dont feel it was rushed at all. I've seen the work that went into it. It's absolutely beautiful.
For those of you whose system is lacking in performance, please, try not to complain as much. It's not the devs job to make sure that the game can run on a 4 year old machine, so please dont whine in game about the stuttering and gfx lag issues like its their fault. RAM is cheap. You can get 4GB for 100 bucks or less. You can buy an 8800GT from newegg for less than 100 bucks last time I checked. Thats 200 bucks for an upgrade that will last you another couple years.

Re: Am I the only one who feels it was rushed sorta?
I agree. *gasp*
But none of it is the DEVs fault(s).
I actually expected it to be out like.. mid september... and then.. two day release announcement..
In comparison, Farcry 2 has been... a.. questioned existance for quite a while.. (This fall woot)
