I don't like insurgent generally speaking. The lack of scope is frustrating. THe good parts are the trucks with the .50 cals and the RPG! RPG RPG RPG!!! That is the best part = blasting a US/UK asset with the RPG.

I understand what the insurgents add to the game, and it's a good concept.

But personally, I truly hate playing as an insurgent. As a matter of fact, it just breaks immersion for me when I see X players running around in bright red Addidas track suits and white Nike shoes. And the bright red head rag's don't look very tactical either. It bugs something in the back of my mind subconciously.

Sometimes I love it. Running around throwing rocks at infidels while turning to flee at the first sign of plastic wire ties can be a lot of fun. Until someone squishes you with a merlin. Then you wait wait wait... respawn... and get shot by an APC from a mile away.

My personal opinion is that insurgency is an awesome concept... but I need a lot more experience with it before I can decide whether or not I would enjoy playing them. I have very little experience with Insurgents due to the fact that there were no maps on TG, and TG is where I play.

I think the TG community as a whole really needs experience with these kits and tactics for the same reason. Once we have that and the majority of the team knows what they need to do I think it will be a lot more fun. Note: I'm not saying everyone... I've had some people in my squad that were experts at playing insurgents, and it was a blast.

On the collaborators I think there needs to be some tweaking, but that might just be me. It seems like very few people fear running over or blasting an unarmed civilian, and the points vs. spawn timer for the collab just doesn't seem to make it a viable kit. You can't pick up something new... and about the only thing you get is a lot of medkits for team mates. The cell phone only comes into play every 30 minutes and the cell leaders can do that anyway right?

I'm sure the points/timers are set like they are for a reason, and it's probably just me not understanding the big picture. So I'll keep trying to drag enemies into traps as collab, and keep healing up my squad whenever I can until I figure it out. And if that means being a hood ornament 10% of the time and waiting to respawn 70% of the time... I should have a little bit of time to play around with the kit in between.

Yesterday I played Archer with Cougar and Disposable SLing. With organization, even with Insurgents, we were able to win the game by defending caches and killing "infidels". To be honest my opinion is just like with any other game mode. You only have an enjoyable game if your team... well, works as a team.

I got hit by a mortar strike for the first time last night on Archer. It was pretty impressive but I managed to revive every single casualty... so it 's not really that effective.

Had a lot of fun that round in Fuzz 's squad (USA), especially when we ambushed an insurgent squad of mountain climbers when they almost reached the top

It's probably because TG has rarely run Basrah (which was the only insurgent map) since .6 or so, because of server crashes when placed on rotation with other maps. A lot of the newer TG guys, etc, probably have never played it, unless they played on the one insurgent-only server not hosted by TG, so there is a lot of room for practice.

Personally, I love it, but I kind of wish they went back to the .5 insurgents. Protecting our AA dudes while A-10s and Cobras whizzed over our heads was a blast, as was the Doctor and Policeman kits (the majority of the team in basrah were civillian collaborators... you had a doctor, policeman (body armor, shotgun), war veteran (g3, grenades, body armor) etc, as well as "insurgent".

i love insurgency lol, especially because now they get the lovely Lee Enfield ^-^
that thing just sounds so great i couldn't care less whether or not i can hit anything with it

although, i don't like Basrah, it would be better if the GB actually came into the city but noooo, they like to sit outside in the desert and camp with their APCs
oh yeah, and i also LOVE the suicide cars

i always try and get them, i've had some crazy fun with those things ^-^

So now the US is supposed to leave a squad defending main base, otherwise the insurgents can run 1 or 2 technicals over and shoot your helos while landing?

Wow, that's some reality! I won't even start arguing reality issues in here because there is no point at all and will leave to nowhere. But I just wanted to let it registered that that is one of the worst rules I have ever seen on a TG server.

Thread related now, I do enjoy playing insurgents for the simple fact you don't need to give a darn about dieing. But it's rough and the other team has to be REALLY disorganized to allow you to win (use assets in a bad way, don't put up rallies and FBs, etc). If the other team is organized, there's simply not enough manpower to stop em.

But this no UCB rules for insurgents... now, that's something... I can see it escalading to the point insurgents will lock down the base so bad no troops will be able to move out... And that's gonna be pretty real.......

You have an advantage in arms, mobility, and defense. Use it.

Its far worse on basra then archer where they can drive right into the base with a suicide car and destroy assets that have just spawned. I think brits even lose 10 tickets a piece for that

The valley is worse again, nasty massacre for the allies as try to leave their base with the insurgents spawning right next to it.

I think its fine though, insurgents have no body armour, the guns dont fire straight, no scope, no patches and they take twice as long to spawn then allied troops

I love playing insurgents. They're just different from all the other armies. When the battle closes into those close-quarters confusing cities, it's just action. Caulking some marines with an AK and a potato masher, only to then take their cool equipment and use it against them in some dusty city streets; that's fun, imo.

mmm... i dunno, i think it's fair, the insurgents (technical or not) are so under equipped that basically, anything can take them out. L-AT, H-AT, APC, focused small arms fire, etc. even the suicide cars are easy to take out since they have no windows. Big Red is a slight bit of a problem, but then again, usually i'm too busy trying to run away to actually shoot at it so i wouldn't know just how big of a problem it is.

also, in game, i almost always see the insurgents giving the enemy UCB (i haven't tried the new maps and i've barely ever played Archer so this is about Basrah) a wide berth, cause if they don't, they're most likely going to die, very fast.

The spawn point at the very back of the map near the well..... At one point it was AMAZING when you spawned and could run out of the shed... Then when we did run out, the only option for survival was to jump into the well and await your death...

Good times on Battlearena...

I love it! its like "playtime" at a playground in a school. you get to run around screaming your head off. And it makes you feel so good when you grab one of the Brit-kits
