FYI, the stretching that's been mentioned is only stretching of static bitmaps that are used in the interface, not the 3d-rendered portion.

yeah, like I said, the 'chop off' is barely perceptible as infantry. I noticed while playing vanilla BF2 back in the day, flying the cobra... When I got my shiney new LCD, I suddenly couldn't see ground targets very well!

No, the entire screen gets stretched. Look at your crosshairs in vanilla, the points don't form a perfect diamond.

What I'm saying is that all of the UI, including crosshairs, is stretched, but not the 3d-rendered portions of the game.

Basically, if it's rendered in 2d, it's stretched.

I'm all but certain that my 3d-rendered portion is not stretched, or I would have noticed when I went from 5:4 to 16:10.

Also, if you have a 1680x1050 screen, but want to see the absolute most you can, you should consider running SZX 1400 SZY 1050.

Absolutely correct. However, in most cases, you don't need any more vertical vision than 16:10 provides. If you feel a need for ZOMG ULTIMATE VIEW, make sure you're at a 4:3 resolution.

My monitor works great, the Geforce GTX 280 works great, and the widescreen fixer app above works great. Thanks a ton for the help.

I'll have to try this out. It's weird playing on a wide screen with standard resolutions...

I play without the fixer because I usually forget to launch it before launching PR and if you do it afterwards, PB will kick you for it.

Lets hope patch 1.5 will give us what we all want.

I run both widescreen fixer and Hitfixer in the background when I'm playing PR and have zero problems with PB. Actually, I just leave these two programs running all the time and just toggle them on/off in-game.

Is this the one you use, CC? http://www.autohotkey.com/forum/topic35905.html It's hard to find an official source for "Hitfixer". I might try it out.
