Ok, but if you completely get off the flag and lose it.. You need to completely reassault it, which can be really annoying when we were just about to cap the next flag.

And by ASAP, I mean move there as soon as possible. Otherwise I'll just tell you to either assault or defend a flag.

ok good allot of commanders just mean now when they say ASAP. Just making sure you were not one of those annoying commanders that don't tell you what they want
If people are becoming so bored when playing that they have to resort to this immature behaviour I will give them something to do, call it a project. The project is "appeal a ban". - Wicks

Yeah, I'm siding with the commander being vital argument.

Just commanded on Kashan alternate (choppers) and the US team was very coordinated with SL's both following orders and having just enough initiative to get things done and contact me both for updates and status of other squads and assets. My job hovered between letting the Apache know where it was needed the most, being an intermediate contact between several squads at once, and basically taking all of the data being presented and putting it back out into the field with as much cohesiveness and order as I could for the advance. I came in halfway through, but it was actually more fun now then it was before.

All in all, it worked out very well, and we won the match with about 100 tickets to spare. This was my first command in .809, and I commanded in .7 and .756 a lot for my former clan. Out of the versions, I think they're just as important now as ever if not more so, with the enhanced SL abilities.

Making the commander stay in the commander booth is a great decision, because it gives the field SL's more abilities to lead their squad and accomplish objectives without the commander running around as a one man squad. After all, having your CO killed in the field is bad. The booth still allows the commander to be the top of the chain, just makes the battle smoother in my opinion. Heck, I stuck around the main as CO during previous versions anyway.

As was mentioned earlier though, the will to actually follow orders and work as a team is vital. We were successful because all the squads on the team knew how to work together, use the CO as an asset, and nobody was trying to fight their own battle away from the team. I give squads a lot of room to work and don't micromanage, so I'm sure that helps. As a SL, I want to know what the CO wants, but I also prefer a bit of room to accomplish that objective my own way based on real-time info that I have on the ground where I am.

I dislike COs that try and tell me every single building to walk towards and give me new orders every 30 seconds. Just give me my objective, update it as necessary, be ready to allocate support and build orders as you see fit, and let me do my job. I'll do thy bidding, but I have a job to do in order to accomplish it. But, in the end the CO of the match is the boss, so you just work with what you get.

You did a great job today. I was in that Apache with sabre_tooth_tigger.

    Oh yeah? Cool!

I was unsure who was in the chopper by name, and I just knew you by voice.

You guys were johnny on the spot yesterday. You saved 3 differant squads at least on 3 perfect firing runs. Not to mention all the stuff I know you did without specific requests.

    Great work!

When I'm defending a flag with full squad, I'll break up into fireteams and have one team sweep the perimeter while the other stays on the flag. That way, if enemies are encountered, we're pretty much already in place for cover and flanking maneuvers.

Yeah, I prefer squads to do that rather then have the entire squad go chase another squad or firebase jsut to have another enemy squad come from the opposite direction and cap the flag.
