    Rhino said somewhere in the dev journal there isnt going to be just one logistics truck, so you could potentially have one truck that sticks with the armor squad dropping a repair crate as needed, and another that sticks wit the other group of infantry/apcs. Heavy Helo's do the supply crate drops for FOBs/Bunkers

    probably could have a squad of 6 with 2 APCs, 1 Truck, and possibly 2 pilots. That way you can work logistics and whatnot, or might just be easier to have the transport, and the helo's in a separate squad. That's up for debate later once we can play around with the option.

    Lets put it to the admins, there will be always one that will do that, costing your team transport to an objective or area and costing your team a vehicle, which costs tickets in 0.85.

    When 0.85 comes out, I believe the admins will update the rules.

    How do you guys feel about hueys dropping random supply crates around the map for later firebase plans on maps like Muttrah/Barracuda? I run the risk of helping the enemy with free crates, but if you put them in remote enough places, it sometimes helps your team sneak a firebase on the mainland.

    this just means that we need to to get TG people or people that know what they're doing in those APC's/Transport Helo's before someone else does. You've got people in TG that are good at armor/APCs, and people good at Helo Transport. Delegating resources is what we're good at.

    How do you guys feel about hueys dropping random supply crates around the map for later firebase plans on maps like Muttrah/Barracuda? I run the risk of helping the enemy with free crates
    Just wait for 0.85 and the enemy won't be able to use them anymore making that a usefull tactic. Plus you need the crates for requesting kits so dropping them on random places might help your team alot. Or how about spamming supply crates to have instant ammo refills for infantry?

    As fish said, that won't be an issue. However, you are running the risk of showing the enemy potential places that you might be next time you roll through town, giving them a chance to setup some defensive zones.

    Supply Crates from Helo's are going to be something that needs to be more of a backfield option/Quick Reaction. If a group of infantry is rushing for a flag, it will probably end up being the Helo's job to get in there quick, drop the crates (and possibly additional troops on site) and get out of dodge. Lots of flexibility we have at our disposal.

    I think the logistics squad is a failure. It is too much trouble when the SL needs to have positive control over the movement of the squad. Helos are great, but the logistics squad concept had me with a big time NO!

    Maybe the SL should have a little office where he co-ordinates everything, with a business suit, and he's sweating and swearing at the drivers or pilots.

    T Man could you go into a little more depth about what you think is so flawed about it?

    I think i understand what you're trying to say, but I just want to be sure.

    If we have a logistics squad itself lead by a SL, he could coordinate with the commander about what assets he has in his squad.

    You've got a SL, 2 truck drivers, and 2 Helo Pilots. The SL can be with infantry fighting a battle, and also acting as a way to relay orders from the commander to the trucks or helos. If he's gotta get supplies out to a certain place, he uses the Trucks or Helo's as needed.

    What might be wrong with that?

    This is kind of related but...

    I can't stand "FB BUILD" squads. I usually run infantry and I - as the SL defending or attacking the flag - wan't to build a FOB that will help my squad the most. When a squad just sets 4 FB's scattered throughout the map it can really hinder the squad involved with the flag.

    This is more frusterating when the SL is not on TS. When all the SLs formulate a plan of who will assualt which flag and where we will each build, this sqaud can completely destroy the sequence. This has happened several times: I go to set an FOB to support my advance, Oh wait, "Obnoctious 'FB BUILD' SL" just set a FB 300m from the flag, so even if we capture it we cannot build a bunker, Awsome!

    Couldnt we make supply drops using choppers. Some pilots when asked by the CO or Sl's usually comply, maybe you could use a mixture of vehicles in this logistic squad. Sounds good though : D

    You think they'd be smart enough to allow distance to put on the flag. It really should be checked with the team before FOB placement occurs, if your in an FB BUILD squad. Otherwise friendlies can become annoyed with you.

    what the relish?

    this song, i mean.... this post just made me remember a dream i had this morning. I was standing in a city singing and i looked up and there was like 20 choppers flying in formation just unloading fire, i saw all the tracers flying through the air and thought "that gun fire doesn't look too precise"... Made think of something.

    Okay, here is the deal. I am kind of a camper, a big time camper. I know this game is not realistic in terms of "time" and all that, but I'm really interested in suppressive fire and support fires, they are my favorite. My dream squad would beable to assault and defend, but my i would prefer to direct support fires and suppressive fires for two reasons,
    1. I have a theory that support fires (even rifleman at 400-600 meters) is quite untested and the value and use of this tactic is not understood enough to be utilized in a way which makes it shine.
    2. I think that experimentation is the only way to figure things like this out, and that requires patience and seeming insanity.

    So what does this have to do with logistics squad?
    Well, ideally the support fire team uses up a lot of ammo.. Considering that their main objective is not just to "keep enemy heads down" but all so to draw attention of enemies and "steal" some of the attention of the enemy so that an assault team has an easier time. The long distance or well fortified position which the support squad takes up to do it's work should allow them to be able to avoid getting killed. And if you are wounded? simply step back under cover and get healed.
    So in using a lot of ammo it is helpful to have more on hand, especially for LAT and grenades, riflemen ammo also. Thats what logistics has to do with this, and having a squad bring the support squad ammo allows it to work better.

    Just to end on a tactical note the key piece of the support fire squad is the following rule. Make a lot of markers and update them frequently, and teach your members to aim at the central number and do burst fires towards that central number as though it is a enemy target. After they get good at this, then when you see a n enemy in the open they can get good support fire going towards him, it don't matter if you hit him the idea is to psychologically make him reconsider what he is doing... that time of reconsideration and distraction is the opening point for an assault team.
