I know I had been off the PR server for a while but I had noticed a lot of disrespect since my comeback compared to when I first came on the PR TG server. Surely most of the players doing this are new players to the TG server and have no real clue but that should be no excuse, you do have most of the rules in the chat area for them to read. I sometimes would love to be an admin but know I would lose that privilege really quick for the simple fact I would probably get kick happy.

Lots of bf2 guys on yesterday because voip problems meant alot of regulars stayed away so the floodgates were open.

PR is pretty complicated now with all the inside info you have to know to play properly plus they haven't read the manual anyway so its chaotic

If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have obviously failed to plan properly.

How can I play this game tactically when there are a grand total of 5 locked squads and we have obviously already lost the game? This is what is getting frustrating when people complain about pointless locked squads.

    locked vs initative

I disagree locked squads prevent tactical or teamwork, it does prevent talking directly to a squad but you can work around a team

Two options there imo, go engineer or go officer/commander and yes work by yourself to support the team, that is possible even if its not your preference

Theres still alot you could do if you want, PR is a frustrating game especially if you only have one flag left.
Sometimes I just wait till the next game tbh, its not worth getting worked up about

Engineer tasks in that situation would be to mine the roads leading to village, try to place in kinks or dips in the road as a driver will naturally look to the horizon mirroring his gunner most times

Repair vehicles, you dont have to be in the same squad to be on stand by for a vehicle. You can literally save lives this way by wrenching a burning apc, it would be vital

Commander position would be to build a firebase at the main flag, I see none there. You cant dig it but it at least allows the team the opportunity to increase their resources.
Anytime theres less then 4 firebases, a base at the main flag turning out a 50 cal vehicle every 10 mins is a good thing.

Base defenses can be placed 250m away from the firebase, thats a massive difference from previous versions and the power is rarely used to its full potential. You could place wire fencing without further help

Easiest of all but quite boring/slow is to just flank the enemy and knife their rally points. Nobody on that map is attempting to really open up a second flank on the enemy. Engineers get their own vehicles, they are a highly mobile class. Officer get the co truck also

Sad to say but alot of squads will repeatedly make obvious mistakes, taking the shortest path, not defending flags, walking into the line of fire, placing rally points on the front line, etc
So its not impossible to be a 1 man squad and more influential to the course of the battle then the whole of the rest of the team who are just attempting to catch the rain in a bucket instead of turning off the tap

An engineer can create cover. Biggest problem in that map above is how to get apc across the bridge, a co truck should be driving in front of them.
Thats a solo mission again pretty much though it would help if others understand the benefit of cover by any means and grasp the idea you are not just blocking their shot

I played most of sunday evening european time, and it was a considerably better experience. It was enjoyable, and the admins were right on with their interventions. Thanks!

I was thinking, that in order to reverse the spoken about trends, we can have recruitment nights, not for IHS, but to encourage players to adopt the TG tag, Pehaps this could be done by only allowing one IHS member per squad (as sl), and during the game at some point they encourage the player to visit the forums and familiriase themselves with TG. Pehaps even a welcome thread can be set up?. Maybe this has been done before???

I have seen something like what you describe once(there may have been others) not too long ago.

One of the most enjoyable nights on the server occured not too long after .8 came out. One of the in-house squads (The 6th Devils) spread out on both teams and lead squads trying to help those new to PR and .8. That night TG was well represented and they set a great example by their leadership. This is just one example of why the TG server is always full and the best PR destination out there. So all is not lost.

The concept is called "Learn TG". Any TG'er can at anytime start such a "Learn TG" squad, you don't need to be in any ihs, elite at the game or talk with the admins or post in the forums or anything. Just go ahead.

It's done with the intent of trying to learn newcomers about TG and get some talking teamwork going. It's common to have 1-2 TG'ers in the squad, but no more, and the rest newcomers or non TG-tagged players. The squad goal is more towards teaching and having fun, than being elite in the game, so don't be afraid about making or joining one.

The "Learn TG" concept is not widely used in PR anymore sadly, don't know why, but maybe we all can start trying ro tun a couple here and there from now on? It would certainly help on server-quality.

Re: The decline of civilization as we know it and how to stop it

I admit to not having reported a tank fireing in the brits main on fools road when it wasnt game anymore. Primarly because I did not know which of the 4 persons in the tank was the gunner fiering and which was the tank at the enemies main. I told the admin however that we had a tank fiering into the main, I could have given him the names of the 4 suspects though.

I guess I didnt because you dont want to the d+ck to be the spy and hope the tank pulls out after having been admonished, but since the situation escalated I will cooperate as good as I can to forwards infractions.

Generally my experiences on the server have been good, especially during weekdays, where it is more likely to have regulars on both sides of the team. On weekends chance is Iam gone and probably some of the regulars are too and less disciplines players take their spot, in which case iam all for teamstacking to frustrate a team of cant be aresed players.

TG is not a clan, it is a gaming community. Persons who wish to wear a TG tag in game, have to agree rules that are set forth in the SOP, Primer and also rules and regulations that are set forth, for that (those) particular game(s) which the player wishes to wear a TG Tag in.

TG doesn't need to recruit people, there's a reason why people play at TG.

Re: The decline of civilization as we know it and how to stop it

Disposable is right, this must stop. Dirtboy was right. This is going too far, the rot sets in and we (you, me, us) must stop it.

Although I haven't played for a little, I am disheartened that Disposable has to create such a post, as others he has quoted.

Many TG tag wearers or regulars represent the TG ethos. it is why we have stayed and look up to it.

Some TG tag wearers take liberties, as do regulars, and, as said, the pool of new people is shifting.

I can not emphasise more the importance of what Disposable has said. he and others have said it. It is critical they are heard. This is the best server. this is the best community, for a reason. That reason is what the founders and others have carried with them: the TG ethos. As the public swells and new blood comes in, make sure it is not diluted. Bring in those that will join because of the ethos as we did.

When I joined TG, I was a non-tag wearer. Still am. As I wanted to represent the regular players, aiding new joiners and regulars that way, This was then due to to an apparent TG tag wearing elitist attitude. But we non tag weraers stuck it and met Tg wearers and found we had like minds. That was about a year and a half ago. I met many nice people, TG and non TG as well as those with attitude. But those that represented TG helped me to thankfully stick around: they had the same point of view (both TG and non tag wearers): community. Also the ones that took the TG tag in vein were monitored. But new pools, influx, tag wearers and older players must know the detriment that happens if this is continued. as we have watched it. Now with this thread by Disposable, I wish I had worn the TG tag many months ago, so I could represent the ethos as the dilution continued. Time to wear the TG tag for what it truely means. The primer is there. Read Whiskeysix's post. Stay a while and meet like minded people. It is not about being strict, nor is it about being aloof and self wanting:

    It is about Community.

Understand this. Understand it is not about being 'gentlemanly' or 'courteously' as any old sinister self will or venom can hide behind a pretence of acting with civility. Nor is is about acting strictly, or aloofly, or specialisedly, or powerfully: but acting humanely and thoughtfully, givingly, openly, even humourously, and especially graciously.

Project Reality is a game, TG ethos is not - it is a philosophy - make sure we stand on the right side of these two seperate identities when viewing our fellows.

Some will continue to rationalize that stacking doesn't happen or doesn't matter, but it is a fact that it's causing a negative perception of TG in the PR community at large.
