Re: Organized Password Night Jan 23?
there won't be any struggle, remember TG has members from all across the globe, and the BSS guys and the realitymod guys do a great job up putting up DL spots on several different servers, so it all boils down to your DL speed...now if it were released yesterday I could see a problem due to the influx of people watching the inaguration on the internet.
I'll just have to come up with a great excuse to leave work early on friday....and slip out before lumbergh asks me to come in on saturday.Randy = Ace ! - Warlab

Re: Organized Password Night Jan 23?
I'm a fileplanet subscriber with a kick ass download speed (1meg+ per second) and a supporting member at TG. I do this so I don't have to queue in any line or waste any more of my time than I have to. My time is much more valuable than the cost of my subscriptions.
There will no doubt be plenty of training servers available; I'm more of an on the job training kind of guy. The manual is of course useful, but there is something to be said for jumping in the water and swimming. Just don't sink.
My dad's birthday is Friday and we're taking him out to dinner. I will have to jump on later at night with you EU guys and the other insomniacs in the western hemisphere.
Looking forward to it, though. I told my wife not to bug me this weekend. I'm busy.

Re: Organized Password Night Jan 23?
Training server... Yeah, I don't think that's too good of an idea. Here's why...
From someone who has already played .85, I can say that the overall things like driving a tank, flying a jet, etc, have not changed dramatically (if at all), and do not really require the server to be totally converted to training mode.
I will also tell you that to fully experience the new changes in .85, you'll have to do what we always do: play a normal game of PR on the TG server. Most of the dramatic changes were made gameplay-wise, and let's be honest, who here would rather play Kozelsk, Fallujah West, Asad Khal, Karbala, and all the other old maps with a new twist, than Kashan/Qinling/Mestia Training which only features vehicles we've seen a thousand times before.
Sorry if you feel that your idea has been shot down in bloody flames, but quite frankly, it has. (More seriously, I just think that we're much better off experimenting with new features on new maps than playing with the old assets we're already familiar with)

As far as Password Nights go, I'm actually hoping that we will get one in as early as this Sunday, but I would not go expecting a definate one set this weekend. Go with the flow - it's a new release, it can't be that bad

Re: Organized Password Night Jan 23?
Don't forget that Supporting Members of TG will be able to download the PR .85 Files from the 'Downloads' section of the 'Members' pull-down menu at the top of the page. Whether or not the files will be there right as the release happens is another story, but I have faith in Apophis to get em' up as soon as he can

Re: Organized Password Night Jan 23?
So long as they're not going the 'exclusive' Fileplanet release route again, I think we should be okay. After that experience I'm sure the idea has been soured in all their minds as it has ours.
It would be nice to have a passworded release tomorrow (Thursday) just to help ease the influx of downloads, but one way or another we should all have a solid weekend of 0.85 ahead of us. Good point about the supporting member download in anycase - the thought hadn't crossed my mind!

It was more relevant in my head. Most things are, particularly at this hour. But enjoy the humourous clip anyway!|TG|DocZoidIV

Re: Organized Password Night Jan 23?
It seemed, the way it was worded confused me into thinking there was a training server, "as far as a locked training server". I just thought that you were saying, 'no we're not having a training server that is locked.' 'We will have one that isn't locked'.

Re: Organized Password Night Jan 23?
Teh good thing is PR wasn't released when I was sleeping, so now it's all hands on deck for the PR0.85 release!
