There were lots of TG IHS tags on Chechynan. But I wasn't fazed, and Russia ended up winning, it was great. My Squad (Waldo was leading I think) was the one that took down the FB in the northern most bunkers/launchers. Closest to the Chechen base.

Then I ended up having to hide under 2 BTR-80 Wrecks for 20mins or something. While all these troops,BRDMS and Technicals moved by unsuspecting.

I eventualy thought I'm not getting out of here alive so I just shot and killed a Squad Leader and everybody started shooting me back.

Was sweet a couple of my guys still alive for a looooong time just reporting positions and assets and staying low. Grouping back up with us on the western edge to re-assualt 15 mins later without a scratch.

Lesson for next time: dont deploy a FOB without getting some AT's out. All our crates got waxed and we had little to shoot at the spandrels with.
Those BDRM's were like freakin' rabbits. After we were completely overrun by the second assault, Bjoffe and I were left hiding behind the quonset huts in the northeast corner of the western compound. Extremely nerve wracking at times - at one point we had a technical park itself 20m away from us in plain sight, while we could hear constant streams of trucks and BDRM's moving past.

Both of us were ready to light up the gunner if he turned - but he never did! So we managed to survive that ordeal and bolt north with a few more close calls. Our team started to roll back in as we were reconnoitering a firebase location on the west end of C5 - this led to us crawling to within 15m of the enemy firebase before engaging several armed construction workers and disabling the firebase.

After that it seemed like the hit and run tactics never ended for us. I managed to have a considerable amount of quality time with the flora and fauna on the map.

Needless to say, I'm glad people don't always differentiate between Russian and Chechen uniforms. I had a couple instances where I was fairly visible to Chechens walking past, but managed to go unchallenged until I put AK rounds into their backs. By that time, I had already started running.

Hats off to you for a great round of squad leading, Glory. And to Bjoffe and JulianV for keeping me company in the woods. It really was quite a slugfest, I think we were pretty much stuck fighting in the B5/C5 region of the map for the majority of the game. First with our firebase, then slugging it out trying to take down several enemy deployments.

Last nights battle was perhaps the finest firefight I have ever been involved in. It was an epic battle to say the least.

I also feel very fortunate to have been part of a well organized SQ with great leadership and overall team member support.

    Thanks TG!

    Cheers!

It was great fun.....we spent most of our time on the center hill getting ppsh hosed and vice versa....

I really enjoyed how we didnt waste alot of time picking teams and getting organized....

I lost a logistic truck the first run out to enemy fire, and it took quite some time to get any other FOB's up after that. It sounded like there were plenty of casualties on that terrain.

Also, I think a better use of the comm and logistics trucks could have been employed. For instance, since the comm truck only has one crate and the logistic truck has two, we could have had four squads take one comm truck each and have each logistic truck deliver one crate to each squad. Technicals and Spandrels providing support. Just thinking out loud.

Having a technical with us also saved our butts on more than one occasion.

Setting up the FOB's in CnC seems to be more difficult because there is no clear objective other than to just build them.

I think Soccer did a great job commanding, but I would liked to have had more time to put a strat together. Perhaps next password night???
I actually thought about the strategy a little more today and have decided that in retrospect I actually think fewer FOBs would have been better. Here's why:

    1) As a far as I understand it, the enemy only bleeds tickets if one team has all four FOBs built and the other doesn't have any. That is extremely unlikely to happen.

    2) Since there is no other advantage to having four FOBs up, I would suggest only building two or three as close together as possible, and in a strategic area on the map. By having two or three, instead of just one, it is unlikely that you'd lose all of them and begin ticket bleeding.

    3) Also, by only having 2-3 FOBs fairly close together, it concentrates your squads into a smaller area. They can thus support each other and focus their firepower more quickly.

    4) With only 30 players, it's almost impossible to guard four FOBs and mount any kind of offensive action. As a result, you become a reactionary force instead of controlling the action and pace of battle. In addition, with only a squad or two defending each FOB, there is a much higher chance that they'll get overrun before the CO can get reinforcements there to help. Once overrun, the enemy will destroy their FOB and the team loses 5 points.

There is still a lot more to learn about CnC, but these are my current thoughts on strategy.

Soccer, not to attack you, but in my opinion, we could have used the logistics trucks (covered trucks) a little better. No offense to dispo, but he was driving around during the start of the map the whole time trying to find a way to his waypoint to no avail.

The 2 Logistics trucks each follows one of 2 infantry squads (1 truck per squad). Infantry uses the technicals/apc's to get there (as well as infantry support), while the trucks drop their crates and go back to base to rearm.

There are 2 FOB's getting built from the start, infantry still has a mean's to move around, and the respective squadleaders can further stay with the squad and lead, than having to drive back and forth to main.

I had thought about this half way through the beginning when we were having trouble just getting the FOB's setup in the first place, but by that time, round had already started and trucks were out of the gates.

This mode definitely provides a lot more leg room where strats are concerned. One of my favorite parts of the game is the strategy, which is why PR stands so far above many of the other games out there. I could stare at maps for hours before I ever pull a trigger.

I'm looking forward to the next CnC round.

That's a good strategy soccer, close FOBs means that if ever one is under attack/ being overrun, another squad may reinforce, everybody can support eachother.

Playing the Russian Team, when the round was well underway. Our FOBs were closer to the base and, 2 squads were holding off the enemy about, 400m or more Northwest from the closest FOB. They were defending the main road, near the intersection area.

Sure the FOBs were vulnerable to any flanking forces (to the east). But I say defending ahead of the objective is a lot better, it delays the enemy, you can focus your fire if you are defending a certain landmark or such (say an intersection). And you cost the enemy more tickets because each time you fall back, they have to fight you off once again. And everybody knows that most of the time assaults have more casualties than defence.
