Re: very sad
yea man, save that cd-key its the only thing that matters. write that thing in marker inside your PC case. If you ever need to re-install just download the data from one of various... sources using a certain bitorrent technology.

That may no longer be an option in Australia if the govt gets it's way with the firewall they want to build. That and data transfer costs to Australia are killer. He's probably on a 5GB/month plan.

Re: very sad
My power on the old computer finally crapped out after lots of mutterings from it. It just wont start and sounds like a dead battery turning over. And I just cant revive it anymore. It's dead Jim! Booooo.
With my BF2 disc in the drive too! Mega-booooooooo!
Taking it to the doctors on Monday, so, hopefully, see you all later in the week if it isn't too bad. A little more out of pocket but maybe a better comp' and a problem resolved happily.
Have fun till then guys

Re: very sad
Every dvd and cd drive should have an emergency ejector button.
Thats not quite as exciting as it sounds, look for a pin hole on the front of your drive then get a needle/badge and angle the needle through the hole and it will manually engage the drive tray ejector gearing in order that you can access the disk
As far as the computer goes, try putting the vacuum cleaner on the back and suck out any dust. I wont advise you to open it up but computers will naturally collect alot of dust (especially if you smoke) through their fans, one of which is in the power supply unit.
Removing the dust may help or it might be too late or something else entirely of course
