I haven't had much playtime but I love the reworked weapons. The Insurgent/Militia AK-47s are now useable! 3-D ironsights and new sounds for the US weapons are great. Overall accuracy/deviation changes are great.

new deviation. i don't so much like the new, and hate the old. I can now hit people 10 meeter s away on full auto. I do not like the fact that the guys are still extremely accurate at super long range (600m + if you wait long enough) It makes the sniper almost obsolete.

mainly, the big thing i like is the removal of spec ops. I no longer have to deal with 13 year old's snatching it for the silenced pistol, and auto rifle. Now when i need to C4 a bridge, or plant mines, no one takes the combat engineer, so i can use that kit as a spec ops kit was intended. I also like how it has mines (up to 20!! i am now a 1 man mining machine!) I do miss the slams tho, even if the C4 is better then before. I also wish they could repair bridges, ect. i also wish they could put more then 1 mine marker down.

I also love that everyone can now get a grapple hook. I think it is a little too powerful right now, but only because everyone forgets about it. I shoot all those people in the back after climbing over an unexpected wall. Once people get used to the idea, i don't think it will have as large an effect.

everything else that is changed that i don't list, is a like.. but i feel the dislikes are bigger

    1. sniper kit no longer has suit( ya, it didn't make any difference at long range, but at short range, it was a sneaking super suit that saved me more then once, and there really is no performance reason for taking it out)

    2. I don't like that incendiary grenades have to be used to destroy crates. Its a good idea, but on the smaller maps, 1 guy with a truck and 5 mins can drop enough crates that it would take your whole team to destroy them all, in effect, making destroying them pointless. That's not a huge deal, but it also makes destroying FB's pointless because they can just drop another one , anywhere there are 2 crates within 50 meeter s. I think it would be more effective to make crates blow up after a regular grenades, or 2 full clips or something like that, instead of indestructible. they need to be stronger then 0.8, but not too strong.

    3. APC's are now too strong. The point of the patch was to make them into troop transport, but they gave them more health or armor or whatever (no longer die in 1 hit by hat). This makes it so they are better as mini tanks then before, and that's what they were trying to stop. this is true about most of the vehicles now. Humv's dont die when hit by an RPG-7 and thats just not right. If anything, the smaller jeeps should be weaker then before, a tank shouldnt have to take 2 shots at a Humv even if its hit with a heat round. A 50 cal bullet will penetrate an engine block, it shouldn't take a full clip to destroy a Humv.

    4. not a big deal, but i would like more maps with aircraft. a single little bird or small troop transport. (wish another team got a small troop transport chopper)

    5. i wish you could crouch within the peaceable 50 cal turrets, and look out the small side windows (another small pet peeve)

    6. I kinda think sniper and combat engineer should only be able to be requested at main, so u cant drop a crate in the middle of no where and request sniper off it all the time.

~ While i do dislike these things, overall, i think its a good step in the right direction. I like this patch much more then dislike.

Re: PR 0.85 - First Impressions

I really really love the new sounds, I don't know how many times I've ducked hearing a rocket go wizzing by. I like the fact that the apcs are a little tougher, altough they don't ALWAYS survive a hit from HAT. I lost 6 APCs yesterday on Ejod. They really should be used more as transport but this is a teamplay issue and not the mods fault. Personally I hate the russian maps, I played them both as a SM and SL and I don't like the way they are setup and I'm not really into the russian faction. Any one have any Idea why they arnt using the BTR90s and are using the 60s??

I love the insurgent/taliban maps, some of the best fun I've had on both sides. I really wish more of the maps had helo transports on both sides. A lot of maps have none and the rest seem to have it for one side only.

All and all a good release and way Improved sense my last play time in .7.

The 60 is a placeholder until they get a 90 modeled.

Major, major upgrade from the previous patch. Less flashy changes than previously, but improved gameplay more than I imagined. Still though; where's the lynx and the chinhook? Expected to see those around

Nah, as in reality, devoted attack helos(apaches/cobras) are more and more taking over all scenarios requiring weaponry. People are always wanting more weaponry for hueys for example, when the fact is that the huey attack role was developed during vietnam for lack of any better option(which is why they developed the cobra, which was originally actually thought of as a highly specialised attack huey).

Deploying doorguns of some sort wouldn't be entirely outrageous, however. Doorguns as a defensive measure is, I believe, considered highly useful in various insurgent scenarios such as in Afghanistan, where long distance, hot extractions can be frequent.

Yeah I agree with yeah, of all the trans helos I can think about on this mod I think all of them can mount some sort of door gun.

Like most of the new/changed stuff with a very notable exception:

No headshot kills. 'nuf said. Seriously, who thought of that?

Pretty sure that is a result of corrected deviation. Since everyone is firing laser beams again, imagine how bad it would be if the headshot kill was still in place. I'm pretty sure it was removed for game play purposes.

they removed the headshot kill ? omg ! i totally missed that..

i really like the new maps Fallujah West and Asad Khal.
Fallujah West - sweeet to snipe on.
Asad Khal - great Infantry fights. one of the best maps imo.
the new look of the GLTD.
the Lynx and the new sounds of course.

i do not understand why they removed the guili suits. opinions needed on that!
    - that there is no more Transport LB on Ramiel.

i like the AK-47´s ironsight because now you can actualy see your enemies when in ironsight. The second thing i like is the increased 50.cal firerate.
What i dont like is the fact that they haven´t improved vehicle traction at all

no headshot kill means people can still be revived after a headshot? I do notice alot of missing kills on insurgency, you have to guard the bodies

A headshot still does lethal damage afaik

    vehicle traction
    crappy bf2 physics engine afaik
