Re: Mumble voip!
Guys, the admins will handle it, have faith. As for distance, it depends on your volume, if you have 100m distance, but 50% volume, you only hear 50m. But don't stress yourselves yet.

Re: Mumble voip!
The main problem with this program right now is the users... I think people just download it without setting it up as it should be. I heard some people talk about hearing to many people at the same time and hearing enemys over 200m, well the simple fact is that if you do have problems like that you have got the wrong version or have not set the program up right. I can only hear people at 50m and its great I can talk to the once close to me and I never hear half the team speak at the same time. Just READ the post Jaymz made on the main forum, if you set everything up as it says in that post you will love this program.

Re: Mumble voip!
Since this thread is about mumble I'll ask here,
Since I installed mumble I keep having CTD's when I enter a server. Even on a local server I CTD.
When I turn mumble off i can connect alright but can't communicate because on the TG server the VoIP is off.
Has anyone else encountered this problem and found a solution ?

Re: Mumble voip!
So it seems to me that one of the problems right now with mumble is the fact that all the TG channels are linked. Even though you're in team 1 channel, you can still hear team 2 channel. Wierd.

Re: Mumble voip!
Well, I tried it out for a couple of rounds and I found it failed utterly. Never thought I'd get that annoyed with random blue guys passing by(blabbering in a random language). Went back to using good old TS. I did stay on mumble to overhear hostile comms, though.
I can see how Mumble is an awesome new application that might someday take over for TS, but right now it is more of an interesting addition to TS than a replacement. Mainly I found it useful to communicate directly with other squads ingame, though that really didn't outweigh all the cons.

@Camlost: I don't think the idea is the replace ts but more to replace/add an extra realistic aspect to voip.

Re: Mumble voip!
I tried running mumble, nvm that it does not work as it should right now for me, the bigger issue is when I load mumble gameplay is really laggy. Iam running PR on a P4 3,0 GHZ with 2 gigs of ram. Is mumble such a resource hog that my system can not take both, PR and mumble, or is something else the problem ? Settings are medium and it runs most maps fine.

Re: Mumble voip!
I've tried this, tried the suggested settings, tried my own settings and I can say that I really dislike this and it completely ruins the atmosphere for me. It is extremely unrealistic to hear crappy voip quality audio coming from the general direction of each player, not to mention the fact that you can hear enemies chatting away in English when you get in close enough and can easily mistake them for friendlies. The software slows down my framerate, and generally does not work like it's supposed to.
Let's please make this optional and turn in-game voip back on for those of us that want to get back to playing the game like we always have.

Re: Mumble voip!
It's not required, and the in-game voip isn't turned off. The server just needs restarting.

The purpose of mumble !!! & communication
Ok, I know there a mumble voip forum up but hear me out, if this gets moved... np buts still hear me out.
The purpose of mumble is that if a few squads were to be engaged in a firefight, the two squads could coordinated via postional audio and close proximity coms. If you've seen videos of combat sits, you will see people yelling to each other even though not in same squad and to coordinate an attack. Turkish and Cougar showed A good example of this in Op Ghost train for two squads were on TS and they worked together to converge on hostiles and it led to 6 kills and no fatal deaths. Now mumble could be used and not only leaders but other members could all coordinate. Now heres the prob...
mumble should have a range limit of 50m so that u can only coordinate with people in ur area. I know u can select it but it sohuld be locked at 50 or less... not 100 or less. People should have mumble and ts up, either that or cooparate merge ^^. This way you can coordinate between long range ops and close quarters combat fight fights. This may not applay for everyone liuke squad members but SLs should have TS at all times.

Re: The purpose of mumble !!! & communication
I havnt used mumble..
Actually I havnt played PR in probably 3 weeks..
But it seems to me that the radius should be even less than that..
30 meters..
This would lessen the "too many voices" problem..
This is why 90% of the time the only TS channel I am in is the 10th..
Too many voices..
I love the Idea of mumble, but I dont see myself using it unless there is a pretty restrictive radius set.
You can gather up to coordinate with another squad, then move out to engage the objective.. once you make contact your not going to be YELLING out to somebody a football field away from you and have them understand you over the din of battle..
And the guy in the APC is not going to be able to hear you..
Getting within 30 meters of him would simulate getting near enough to pick up the intercom at the back..
