Re: Why do people avoid SLing like the plague?
I have just had a burst of new confidence. Everyone has inspired me to go in there and squad lead like I never have before!

Re: Why do people avoid SLing like the plague?
I don't Sling because I so not know all the in and outs of the game and maps. I love playing PR and lots of help from others, there are a few SLers who kick because of lack of speed and being lost in game and can understand they want people who are good and help them win. This is not to offend anyone, just a point of view from someone who is not very good but is really trying hard.

You don't have to know the in and outs of the maps, whenever I play I try to to play it like it's the first time I've played the map. You just have to look at the map and make sound decisions based on what you see there.
If one of my squad members say something along the lines of "Hey there's a great place about 300m up that we can setup, I've done it several times before on this map", I just ignore that because that really ruins the immersion for me.
So don't be afraid to SL just because you don't have past experience with a map.It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Re: Why do people avoid SLing like the plague?
If my squadleader leaves I try to take control of the squad even if I don't feel like leading because if noone else does we turn into 5 unassigned people running around with no plan or purpose. Before I started squadleading regularly I didn't because I wasn't very experienced with the game or experienced with the server.

Squad leading is the best thing in PR.
Nothing else compares to bringing a group of total strangers together for a desparate fight against unknown odds.
That is why I keep playing PR - only on the TG server. It is the only place where players expect leadership, and get it. We should grow more SLs where possible and teach where possible. That is the beauty of TG. That is what it is all about.

I am hooked on SLing now.
I lead another squad the other day on Qwai. It's a whole different experience. I'm used to listening orders and following the path drawn for me. Now, I get to draw that path and watch as my little minions follow! It's great!

It's nice to know that my li'l ole' thread has shown the light that is the SLing. Good luck and have fun to everyone who has taken up SLing.

Re: Why do people avoid SLing like the plague?
If we ever run a TGU Basic Squad leading i see a massiv number of people (including me) joining.
But since we have a lot going on atm with our TGU BasicMedic and IWS i will just keep making wrong decisions to learn from my own mistakes. that's just the way it works.|TGXV|STeaLthBananaaa

We snipe the TG way

I think Sling is fantastic, there really is nothing better than leading your squad to a flag your whole team cannot cap, then watching as it starts moving, being the spear head on your side is the best thing ever.
