Re: Bayonets aren't totally useless!
I think you can be in a warzone though, like in Bastion, but i could be wrong (you cant fulfill an active combat role)

Nothing like charging trenches on Ghost Train with bayonets. I feel like I'm in that last battle scene in Platoon.

You can enlist into the Canadian Army Reserve Force when you are 16 with parental consent, in which I did, and I finish Basic Military Qualification (Basic Training) on the April 23.
I head straight into my Soldier's Qualification course the following day for another 2 months.
And, personnel aged 17 and older in the Canadian Forces may apply for Regular Force (contracted, full-time).

Re: Bayonets aren't totally useless!
Great find. Ooo I have bayonet stories.
We are both empty - the enemy goes for another clip, I pull out my bayonet and lunge; he goes down. Doesn't happen often, maybe once a week for me, but when it does it is highly satisfying.
I recall an instance on Karbala as an insurgent... I had an empty RPG and had been spotted at close quarters after taking out this squad's weapons platform. I drew the enemy soldier around a building and waited at the corner; he came around right in my bayonet range and went down. I then proceeded to use his M16A4 to drop the remainder of his buddies, very satisfying indeed.

Re: Bayonets aren't totally useless!
Oh come on, why you got to be such a hard ass about this stuff
?
I remember the .85 beta, when the AKM bayonet range was accidentally set to zero, so you basically had to sit on a guy to stab him. I followed this one marine through a field for about 15 secs, swiping at his back the whole time. Then I decided to shoot him.

Someone tried to stab me at the end of Seven Gates tonight...when he finally gave up and switched to his gun, I turned around and shot him.

Re: Bayonets aren't totally useless!
Bayonet + ping > 120 = dead. Seriously, I can't count the times I died trying to stab someone who 's moving around. Even when the bayonet enters the body and smoke puffs come out on my screen... so frikin annoying.
