    Re: PR Peripherals (PR Hardware)

Less is more imo, I got the smallest keyboard I could find because I only use one hand after all and the other is on the mouse so why would anyone want a larger keyboard

I do know of someone who bought a 1000 dollar keyboard, it looks amazing and every key is a tiny screen that can show any picture or character, lighting, etc you like.
The screensaver on 100 keys must be amazing but when I touch type mostly I do wonder what is the point

I also back logitech as they design so well and make solid products.
My mouse pads fell off my normal mouse so Im using one I got five years ago and its as good as new, mx700 wireless and a ratpadz mouse pad.
Keyboard is a dell laptop swap out board, I can span it with one hand

Also consider ergonomics, when you sit at a table with your hands in front - how wide apart are your arms? I think people sit mostly with hands quite close together, this is most comfortable, least tiring and most naturally accurate position to have during a game afaik

Perosnally I dislike the G7 and G9 because of my aversion to wireless gear. It's always some guy piloting a fully-loaded Blackhawk that drops out of the sky killing everyone, then complains "The battery in my mouse/keyboard just died!"

I got the throttle control on the keyboard luckily but Ive never had the battery die like that.
The newer mouse I have can go a month or more without any charge and operate on just one battery if you wanted it lighter, etc Also it has a charge warning light but Ive not tried the g7 or any really expensive mouse tbh

On the other hand I was dying all the time because of the dam mouse lead when I used to play cs with one, it catches on something and my snap 180 movement becomes 160 degrees instead

I know people have something like a bungee lead, not used it but imo the answer is no lead at all and eventually I cant see why people would not switch to wireless, depends how small the batterys get I guess

Dont if your happy with wires, I always found wires when moved with the mouse caught on the desk edge and that bothered me more then changing batteries, also I prefer a heavier mouse.
Actually you can use more then one mouse on a machine afaik so you could have both types if you wanted. My point was theres less difference in the two now I think, with time they'll not be any advantage left to a wire because the battery lasts a year or whatever factor is the disadvantage

Probably more important is how good the signal is, if it cut out at all then it'd not be worth it but I find its ok upto 10 feet and I use it 2 foot from the receiver anyway mostly.

    Me =

When playing I use my laptop keyboard, But I own a Log. G11 that's hooked up to my 360

i DID have a nice laser mouse (Name escapes me) BUT The cord had a problem, I'm going to have to open it up and re solder.

SOMETIMES I duel view a 19" with my 15" Lapptop screen.

    Re: PR Peripherals (PR Hardware)

Hm, I always seem to start the wired vs. wireless arguments everywhere I go

I've had wires bind up and get caught before but it's not a major issue. I'd likely lose a wireless mouse, or these days my son would run off with it (he's 14 months).

My first G5, with the cloth-wrapped cord, actually started to fray from rubbing against the edge of my desk from so much playtime. So I wrapped it in duct tape, lol!

    2nd.

I couldn't go back to a wired mouse... ever!

G7 comes with two batteries and the wireless receiver serves as a charger. Both the mouse and receiver have a button that makes the battery jump out, so swapping batteries takes less than 5 seconds. There 's two systems to warn you that the battery is running low, one is a light indicator but is only displayed for a few seconds when you stop moving the mouse. The other is a window in the bottom right corner (like MSN Messenger has) which leaves plenty of time to swap batteries. I cannot deny though that I 've run out of battery power during a game session.

The G7 also has about the same range as a wireless network, so I can use it from anywhere in my living room to control the pc. Convenient when I expand the screen to my 50" .

    Re: PR Peripherals (PR Hardware)

I love my G7. I dont run the logitech software so I dont have one of the battery warnings Ghost is mentioning, but the mouse does have a red light that tells you when your battery is low.

Ya just gotta pay attention to it, or you roll up on a BRDM in your Technical only to find you cant fire your .50 and end up having your squad mates shot to pieces :-/

I was thinking about this the other day, it would be nice to have a second mouse that could be cofigured to not work with BF2 so you could still manipulate windows on the second monitor w/o Alt Tabing out of PR.

I was always told that you can never go back to a single monitor once you have dual monitors. It's true. I got a second monitor 2 months ago and it is invaluable to me. To have TS, Mumble, Xfire, Firefox, grown men in tutu's dancing, on my other screen while playing PR, is awesome. Since everyone was in the 'post-a-pic-of-ur-setup' mood, here's mine. I believe that is Wickens setup on my screen...
