As soon as you get in ask the SL for a kit, even if he assigned you rifleman. Then second guess every order he gives.
For advanced players, you can quickly distinguish yourself in the squad by not even asking the SL. Just run up to the nearest crate and grab a sniper kit. Your SL will definitely appreciate having the added long-range firepower.

It gets rather annoying when 1 person makes a squad for a certain vehicle, then locks it so only his buddy can pilot/drive the vehicle with him

Guys guys you have m eall wrong. I don't care when people lock it at 3 people for a tank, or 5 people for a HMMWV. But I saw 3-5 man squads locked that were just infantry walking up the mountains. THat's all. I just got miffed when I asked a person walking up the mountain if I could join their squad and they didnt respond in time for me to stay on the server

I think it's pretty damn poor that a new player joins the server and sees a wall of locked squads in the spawn screen. Not a very good way to bring in new players now is it? I don't care if the server rules allow it or not, how are new people supposed to learn the game if they are left to fend for themselves in their own 1 man squad? It's stuff like this I see in forums which is why I keep putting off downloading this mod.

I understand the need for specialised squads like Helo pilots and armour, I'm not stupid, but there wasn't even a single space in a 32 man team for 1 guy to tag along? If there was, then why all the lockage?

Things a 1 man squad can do.

Transport - Helo, Troop Transport truck, Boat (cuda 16)
Logistics - Helo, Logi Truck for supply crates to the front or repair stations for the team.
Command - Every team needs one, and Im willing to bet there isnt one when you join.
Tow Truck - go find a pick up the loose truck other team members have left on the battlefield.

Or you can just come on the forums and complaine that you didnt get your way.

    Somethng for Everyone

Not to pick at this, but while I totally understand your other points made (and also agree with them somewhat), but basing your perception about something solely by reading up on it won't give you the whole picture. Put it off if you want, but I would DL it and try it out if you have some free time.

again, I've got nothing against new players, but I constantly kick people who prove themselves either stupid, or unable to listen.

If theres a locked squad of mine, and i'm not running vehicles, ask for an invite.

If i don't know you I'll usually invite you.

Let me know you're new and I'll compensate and not give you important roles.

I've helped new folks who are smart, JackFarrel is coming along nicely for example, where as other guys underwhelm me.

A lot of experienced squad leaders do the same.

Its a real hassle when you are engaged against skilled squads, with good squad leaders and you have 2+ newbs in your squad. I try to limit my newbs to 1 per squad, and 0 idiots.

So if I don't accept you once or twice, its usually nothing personal. The things that will get you permanently removed from my squads would be INABILITY to LISTEN and FOLLOW orders. Evidence of Stupidity - Grabbing a sniper kit right off the bat, grabbing any AT in any Insurgency (as US), grabbing any kit without my permission.

I Like to know what I have in my squad and run it the way I want it. If I've got it locked, presume I have a reason.
    ? is around the corner.
    ? did that come from.
    ? killed me.
? Who, What, Where. All the time.
    The Question Mark.

Were there 9 squads already created? If not, what was so hard about starting a new squad so you didn't get kicked until you could join another?

Also, please consider that these other squad leaders might have been busy in a fire-fight or some other task and not have noticed your requests for invites in chat. Many players, myself included, tend to ignore the chat and it is the last thing I'm looking at.

If you don't play the mod, then how can you make a blanket judgment about it and the players? Because one person comes on to complain? Seems rather rash.

Re: What The Heck? Team Lockage FTK

First and foremost, if you're not there for the round start, then you're late for that battle, especially in PR. I'll comment more on this below, but you just have to roll with that current round and focus on the start of the next one.

I'm rather new and that happened to me. I started my own squad, not even specialized but didn't want to get kicked. Not even a couple minutes into my time in game (I was late for the start) as people come and go from the game, i had 5 people in my squad.

On another example. I joined looking for an inf. squad and they were full or locked. It was kashan so there were not many inf. squads to begin with. Log squad had 2 people in it at the time. So I joined them, and the next thing you know after we fulfilled our duties to the commander we were out runing as an inf. squad. And again by the end of the round, we had a five man inf. squad and turned out to be one of the best rounds I ever played.

Final note and most important point!!!!: if you're not there for the round start then you need to make the best of the current game you were LATE to. When the round is over and new squads start up you'll have no problem squadding up.

No sweat and stick with it.
