i try to follow the rules on the server and i enjoy playing tactically and cooperatively, but i dont wear the TG tags because i think it makes my name look less cool. great server though and the pw nights are always good times.

I dont really think people should be too harshly punished just for breaking any one rule. If they are blatantly trying to disrupt the game its one thing, but if its a minor infraction then just be cool. no need to get upset. just live your life and try to make it a better future.

    Really.

The thing that makes your name, and your person look less cool is your desire to flame people in a forum you just joined (as in the second post of this topic). Whether a sweater is cool doesn't really matter if one has just pissed on one's shoes.

A second thing: "trying" to follow the rules does NOT cut it. "There is no try, daniel san, or Luke (what was it again )". Unless there is a new rule you don't know about, it is not possible to accidentally break one.

So, by all means, be welcome, but be civil plz.

I think we do a fair job of keeping the sever clear of poor play. I think if you like the play here, you should get the tag on if it suits you. The TG tag is all about the attitude and approach to the game, not to be cool.

I quit trying to be cool about 20 years ago.

The key is to get |TG| tagged people to be vigilant and enforce the rules on other people who may be |TG| tagged. Even though when I used to play a lot, I never used the tag, I often would give a friendly warning out if I saw some minor infractions (such as "hey xxxx no 1man locked squads, or no camping spawn, or inform an admin if someone on my own team was camping the admin's team spawn etc and I would report like crazy if I saw something flagrant bad. You can't just leave enforcing to the admins only, it's everyone's server, too make sure the quality of TG stays the way it has been everyone needs to chip in!

    I like Yoda's saying:
"Do or do not, there is no try."

And yes: trying is not enough. If you really want to play on the server you would take the effort to follow the rules exactly. And also, I can't imagine someone 'trying' to follow the rules unless they have a mental disability.

NOTE: the last sentence was not intended to be offensive in anyway, if you take offense please tell me and I shall remove the sentence.

im not trying to be cool. It doesnt matter how everyone else sees the name. I like looking at it without the tag. And i like when it looks back at me.

Ive never even read the rules. I just play like i'm not a retarded person and everything goes smoothly. I think its pretty easy to pick up on the basic theme of rules after playing on the server for a little while. The only significant problems i ever see are when people are intentionally trying to disrupt the game in some fashion.

How exactly is that relevent to the post?

And yes, some people with TG tag do break the rules sometimes. But banning everyone who has an infraction isnt a sustainable option. If you just talk to the player, explain the rule to them, and highlight which part of it they broke. Rules are interpreted, so we need to show them the way TG wants it to be interpreted. Not everyone who breaks the rules is a 30 year old European man bent on world domination, some are genuienly ignorant with a approachable attitude.

What do we do with the TG tag wearing player who has been banned before (perhaps several times) and still can't quite learn the lesson?

What do we do with the TG tag wearing player who always takes assets and can't seem to learn that "variety is the spice of life"?

There aren't rules against stupidity or poor usage of assets, nor are there rules against asset hogging. However, I would argue that these types of behavior are more detrimental to our server than half of the teamkilling smacktards ever will be.

Hey leave me out of the discussion. Nevermind that I have a rocket and a submarine

But I do agree. TG players should be held to a higher standard, and not giving the players with the tag bigger boundaries than other players.

Some may react to our way of playing as elitism, and comments like "its just a game" but Hell, this is our way to play the game, and there are plenty of other server to chose from that at more relaxed.

Re: It’s time to start enforcing the rules on TG tagged players.

^^Agree. Think yourselves lucky that the admins get to make these fun decisions, not you guys.

We COULD implement a 2 strikes and your out policy for TG tagged players, 2 major screw up ever that result in temp bans, and good bye permanantly, much like the current infraction system that some of us are blessed with having access too...? That is a harsh but perhaps required measure? No more "I quit" and "I'm back" and "I quit" etc etc ad infinitium, no more "I am really sorry for jerking round" That way everyone knows where they stand? However it is the admins who will have to implement this and I do not want to increase their workload, god knows they have enough to do as it is! But they wear the tags, regardless of how long they are hear they accept all the ups and downs. They claim ignorance, tough, they should have read the rules and SOP's as they are REQUIRED reading for all TG tag wearers. They get busted, good bye. Although I do agree that maybe some genuinely ignorant people get a little flexibility if they are not tagged, but that is a different discussion.

As for the variety thing? Well, thats a personal choice, some people are selfish noobs who have to be in the Spandrel or chopper or tank all the time, and that is just there own personality disability. They are usually crap with them too.....But what to do? I know lots of people who would love to use the HAT, Snipe, fly, tank etc and who are damned good at it, but never get the chance because they are always grabbed at the start. The one time for example the mainly infantry guys got their hands on a HAT and a few choppers in Jabal last night, we rocked the MEC, and capped them out in under 30 minutes. Maybe some people should learn from this, spice it up, let others try new things, and heh, maybe win more games in the process? But official action? Thats a toughie. Do you start making rules against noobs and noobish/selfish behaviour? Then what, do we start making rules against stupid/bad tactics? I don't know the answer to that sadly.....My heart says yeah sometimes, ban all the idiots regardless of tag, clean the place out and stop the rot. But thats a hard one to call.....

F1 - this is OUR way to play the game and that's the reason why I'm here.
And - btw - Admins doing a great job here. Thanks for that guys!
