Re: There is no "I" in Team
Think more realism and immersion. This isn't BF2 vanilla.
Example: The truck race 2000 for a common flag at the beginning of a round. Would you in real life risk your life hoping your enemy is slower than you to the flag?

Re: There is no "I" in Team
On insurgent maps - never, EVER take a H-AT kit and leave the main with it. If you want it, start a MAINDEF squad and do just that - defend the main.

Re: There is no "I" in Team
Obviously, don't overdo the comms chatter, but while yomping cross country, check your map from time to time and communicate the direction of known friendlies to your squad. If you know the only friendlies within 1 km are southwest of you, then you can be ready to open fire on any contacts to the northeast.

Re: There is no "I" in Team
Anything resembling asset grab.
In the real army, that would never happen. In fact, assignments are key to missions. People that take assets without regard to the mission are not playing with the TG primer in mind.
My new favorite thing to do in TG:
Spawn in 3 minutes after a game has started.
Assess the situation.
Make an infantry squad with stock kits.
Kick ass and take the map.
If it is worse than that, go commander and fix it.

Re: There is no "I" in Team
If there is a HAT in your squad, and you are the rifleman, stick close to him and act as his bodygaurd. If the HAT guy is stalking his Armored prey, just provide him with security and have an Ammo Bag ready for when he needs it, dont engage infantry that are not allready aware of your presence, sometimes its best "Not" to fire on the enemy.

Re: There is no "I" in Team
Bah, I'm barely getting the hang of SLing in BF2142. Got a whole 6 decent games of PR under my belt and still don't know 1/10th of what everything does. I'll keep on letting people who know what's what SL.
Which leads to...
Remember, new people start playing all the time. Don't presume they know something. Don't presume they even know they don't know something. Ask. If they know, no harm, no foul. If they don't, teach.

Re: There is no "I" in Team
After Jabal last night I thought of a new one...
If you are planning of heading to docks on Barracuda, please hop in the chopper furthest to the left, if you are heading for the airfield, take the chopper furthest to the right, if you are heading for North Rock, please take the middle ones.
Making choppers criss-cross is an easy way to lose 2 choppers and 14 men.

Re: There is no "I" in Team
Posted this in the tips and tricks when i meant to post it here, firefox has a multiple tabs option which sometimes get a wee bit confusing.
The 3 shot burst action for US weapons is a great option for providing covering fire/suppressing the enemy, same goes for the full auto version for other forces. As well as when you turn a corner and are caught off guard by an enemy player or he ends up being right in front of you.
The non-scope Officer kit is extremely useful in Urban/CQB/Insurgent, and even in densely jungle/wooded maps. I prefer the M4-Aimpoint,
When crouched or prone with the SAW, aim up a little higher then usual if you have to fire before the settle time reaches its peak, you will if anything suppress the enemy/wound them and the probability of you not shooting the sand or concrete etc in front of you while suppressing yourself decreases drastically.Randy = Ace ! - Warlab

Re: There is no "I" in Team
Never give up and treat it likes it's real. If people are getting hypo because a TOW is about to run right into your tank's rear, don't tell them,
"It's a game", because as soon as you start treating it unrealisticly you start treating it like a joke, and you do a half-assed job because you are not motivated by the sense of a real combat situation. At least that is what I think. Obviously if people are getting hypo because they missed a headshot, that's the time to tell them it's a game and calm down.
Also, when the situation gets bad for your team, go CO to set things straight. And in addition, don't be a smart-ass or whine to the CO when you don't get the support you requested. His job is tough enough commanding up to nine squads compared to your mere 5 people. Acknowledge that you cannot get your support and then figure out a plan that could do without it.|TG-69th|Berlancic2"Speed. Aggression. Surprise."

Re: There is no "I" in Team
Unfortunately as silly as it sounds it is hard to remember to presume people may not know and so I rely on people telling me they are new, much of the time.
What you say is a good reminder, Greyed, of what really counts in PR: That of human (humane) communication.
Please, by all means join my squad if you see me running one. Also I know others will absolutely want to help out any way they can if they realise you or anyone else is new.
Please by all means ask any question no matter how insignificant or irrelevant it seems. Do not be afraid. Remind me and others you are new. It does not mean I wont have confidence in you. Infact I am happy to teach even at what seems critical moments. All it takes is the right attitude.
For myself I can say, if I am running a squad, do not think at some moment it is too important for you not to ask something, or do something I ask you to do. An example is I have been absolutely confident in people using a H-AT at an APC that is bearing down on the squad, when they have had little or no experience. All it takes, as you say, is to teach, relaying that confidence, and insight. I can decide if it is too risky. I can see into situational awareness or a holism of the event and how a positive or negative event could effect further outcomes. I can tell if the squad is gelling and proactive for its other members to learn, to do or try something. To try something together. And I can respond duly. Even if you thought it too hot afterwards to be responsible for something like a kit like this, if you feel you need ‘more less immediate’ practice, I can decide if the squad will be with you on this - before I have asked you to use it anyway. I am happy for you to go with a kit, go with the squad, as I'd be happy for them to go with you, and work together. If you or anyone has an idea, I want you to say it. If you miss a shot, I want me and the others to back you up in comradeship. Carrying a L-AT? Great! Have fun
We'll back you up. We can all shout holy heck and run about like chickens if you miss and have a laugh jumping in and out of hedges. That and at the very same time we could try to rambo the L-AT and BOOM down it goes. Or we could sit in a whole world of poo and pull together no matter what comes - for eachother, time and time again. Having fun for and with the others. That's the game. But the guys about you is what counts.
Besides, practice makes perfect. I for one am happy for you or anyone else to try out something and enjoy it if it makes sense for you to do so, since I have situational awareness and that includes the squad, as said, trying my best to be proactive in everyone’s immersion of fun and desire to do well, with your and the others' help and stance.
It’s no problem man
Later when you pick things up for sure SL so you can pass PR along and do your stuff. I’d happily SM for you. Till then come join me in a mad galavant about the place :P

Re: There is no "I" in Team
Squadleaders are like bird parents. They will take care of you until you are strong enough to test your own wings. When that day comes, dont be afraid to test your wings and leaving the comfortable nest. You will quick realize that there is much more in life, then your ealier one in the nest and under your bird parents wing
. The old most go, so new squadleaders can be born.

In terms of teaching your squadmates during gameplay, I'd like to recognise BostonBob. He really improved my use of AA on Barracuda a couple of nights ago, and choppers everywhere have been cowering in fear of me ever since!
