Re: Greetings TG - Somthing to think about
It has been a busy time for the admins the last few days it seems - I just wish more people would get on the forum and read this, and after Kashan32 (wednesday evening european time) and Quiling (thursday evening eurotime) it is clear that a lot still need to understand it.
Its been said so many times by so many people, is there any point me mentioning that you cannot conquer a map with one infantry squad and four inept air squads? Or that we do not require a running-update of all the planes crashed, we can see the tickets rapidly draining away with your synchronised crashing. Please just give up your top gun fantasies, it is not going to happen. I have been fortunate to play here for the last few years. Do you have any idea how many helis and jets I have flown in that time? It could be counted on one thumb out of hundreds of games.
However, I do get the feeling that the forum users know the right way and that those who need the message are not getting it.... Maybe try telepathy?

Re: Greetings TG - Somthing to think about
This kind of thinking shouldn't be in TG, Joe. It showcases Elitism, as well as obnoxiousness. Just because someone crashed once doesn't mean they can not fly, as well telling people they shouldn't communicate is also wrong. If you're a good flyer, can you atleast get one of these crashers in your squad and show them the ropes? Teach them, or atleast give them a few tips and pointers? We shouldn't ridicule people who make mistakes, that is terrible, and should never happen. We should make every mistake a learning experience, and promote as such.
You might also be thinking of Qinling yesterday, the one that was 9v9?

Re: Greetings TG - Somthing to think about
I just barely started flying helos in combat about 2 months ago after 2 years of practice. I was too concerned and scared ****less to fly with a squad in my helo until now. That said, I still crash, but I am getting better by the day.
Please think about the non-natural talent folks that have to some day try once to fly.

Re: Greetings TG - Somthing to think about
Is it considered realistic to prone dive and shoot in close quarters?
(You see an enemy, and instead of shooting him from your current stance, you dive to the floor, and THEN shoot, so he misses you.)The beatings will continue untill morale improves.

Re: Greetings TG - Somthing to think about
I could see this in 'niller BF2 or BF2142 and I agree on both points. But in PR does it really matter? I mean isn't there settle time on the weapons so doing a belly flop means you've got 1-2s before you're accurate?

Re: Greetings TG - Somthing to think about
and the settle time doesn't matter since prone diving is at its most annoying >10 m

Re: Greetings TG - Somthing to think about
Well I certainly was not trying to disrespect anyone or appear elitist but I can see where you are coming from having re-read that post.
I don't think a call for teamwork (as opposed to number of flying squads competition) is obnoxious, and I think if you were on those games you would know where I am coming from. It has nothing to do with flying ability (which I could not care about) but everything to do with working together - especially on the large joint arms maps.

Re: Greetings TG - Somthing to think about
I'm all for people trying out new stuff... it keeps the game interesting for individuals. But when things like the above happen, don't expect people to be really keen on you taking that particular asset again in the future.
I'm not a pilot, nor do I want to be one... but I do like leading CAS squads and spotting for the pilots. This has given me a bit more insight into what works and what doesn't for the pilots (and a lot of insight into what works for a spotter).
I guess what I'm getting at is, if you want to try something new... you should spend some time with guys that know what they're doing with those assets first. This will give you a jump start on the things like where not to drive the tanks, or how close to transport inf in that fancy new BH before you get blown up. Of course, as far as the actual flying goes training time goes a long way towards avoiding the dumb stuff like a bombing run that ends with an a10 nose down in the sand 10m beyond your target.
The other issue is actually getting an opportunity to use those assets. I don't really have any advice for that one, but I see the same people using particular assets a lot. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, because normally they're good with that asset. It's just not very conducive to "new blood".

Re: Greetings TG - Somthing to think about
I spend about 3 hours a day practicing Helo because I really wanted to learn it and do it in game supporting a real team. I would reccomend TGU to anyone that wants to learn an asset, especally air assets. We are putting together a jet class for possibly this weekend, just to fly and learn with the pros.
Get on a training server and learn your assets with friends - it is also great fun that you can use in game.
If you have requests to learn assets or tactics, contact us at TGU:
