Mumble full install instructions
PR Mumble Installation Guide
v0.5 PR Mumble Beta
1. If you have a previous version of mumble installed, make sure you uninstall it. Leave the "user preferences" box unchecked during uninstall and it will remember your settings and server info.
2. Download and Install the latest PR Mumble beta:
3. Run the Audio Wizard (Configure -> Audio Wizard).Download Links: PR mumble 0.5 (beta):
Download Size: 11.4MB
PrMumbleMurmur_v0.5beta_Installer.exe (Hosted by Reality Teamwork)
PrMumbleMurmur_v0.5beta_Installer.exe (Hosted by Sendspace)
Follow the onscreen instructions.
TIP: During Device selection, Select your Soundcard from the drop down box as both the Input Device and Output Device. Selecting "Default Device" may have some adverse effects in mumble.
4. Go to Configure -> Settings then select the Shortcuts tab.
- "Local Speech" - Make sure you have this binded to a key. This transmits locally around your character and used for talking to players around you.
- "Squad Leader Radio" - Make sure you have this binded to a separate key than local speech. This transmits to all Squad Leaders if your a Squad Leader in the appropriate Squad Leader channel. It will transmit via "Radio", meaning non-positional and will transmit regardless of their distance to you. Use this ONLY in the squad leader channels to coordinate with other squad leaders on your team.
5. Go to the Server -> Connect screen and then go to the Custom Servers tab. You should have an entry with the following server information:
(A warning will pop up about about a certificate, just press Yes, it won't come up again.)Code:Label: PR Official Mumble Server Address: 217.146.93.46 Port: 64738 Username: yournamehere (no spaces) Password: none- Press Add and then Press Connect.
6. Once connected, join the channel of the PR game server that you will be playing on and load up PR. Remember that positional audio won't start until you join the server, both transmitting and receiving, so be sure not to transmit until you spawn into the game world. This limitation will hopefully be fixed in future versions of PR mumble.
TIP: Always remember to start Mumble before starting BF2 to avoid any Positional Audio Glitches!
7. Have fun and good luck! Report any problems in the project reality forums.
Mumble LinksAdditional Mumble Settings / Tweaks

Mumble Audio Output for optimal sound levels
- Set Mumble Volume to 60%
- Set BF2 ingame effects to 50%
- Set BF2 VoIP to 100%
Overlay
- Enable Overlay - Mumble comes with an overlay that displays whos speaking, however it causes problems with BF2 Punkbuster and its best to keep it disabled at this time.

Re: Mumble full install instructions
I have set the G1 (displays as F1) (g15 keyboard) key to squadleader channel. Now the weird is that when I run PR none of the other in the sl channel can hear me. If I ALT-ESC to desktop suddenly it is possible for them to hear me. Can it be that PR does not like the F1 key?
Weird thing is that it sometimes works, but I cannot really figure it out.
Can someone put their key layout here so I can copy that (just to make sure I set everything right)?

Re: Mumble full install instructions
What is the g1 or g15 key? If these are extra keyboard keys governed by proprietary software such as logitech, you need to give that proprietary software admin privileges so it can continue to map the keys when PR has taken over.
My extra mouse buttons are mapped to [ and ] keys for VIOP and that they are controlled by Logitech Setpoint software. I had your exact same problem until I gave Setpoint admin access.|TG-Irr| Dreadnought

Re: Mumble full install instructions
As soon as you load BF2, the keyboard goes into BF2 mode and the G1 key is reset to nothing until you assign it to something. Then, when you ALT-ESC out of BF2 it goes back to desktop mode. I have 2 side buttons on my mouse which i use for my mumble. then i use the standard keys for voip ('v' and 'b'), 'n' for TS.

Re: Mumble full install instructions
As of yesterday, my mumble works fine, but I heard some people talking about a patch for mumble that came out with the BF2 1.5 patch. Is this true?

Re: Mumble full install instructions
I really had a hard time with the setup. Mumble kept crashing, even with it set to Administrator. I eventually had to do all the setup then run the wizard. For some reason if I ran setup after the running the wizard it would crash upon trying to save my settings.
So if you have that problem try what I did.

Re: Mumble full install instructions
I have been informed that the mumble overlay currently works without punkbuster kicks although I have not had an opportunity to test it out on the TG server. There's several settings to customize how it displays who is talking, if I figure out how to make it only show SL chat and force center players I will post again if someone else doesn't first.
If anyone knows that it still does not work on the TG server for some reason let me know.Just because everyone does something does not mean that it is right to do.

Re: Mumble full install instructions
Couldn't edit the post above:
The mumble overlay works without a PB kick and is very helpful in seeing who is talking. One negative is that if you set it to talkers only it still shows people who are talking in subchannels, so if you are in the general team channel it will show the names of the people in SL chat when they talk. I've got it set to be fairly unobtrusive though so it isn't too distracting.Just because everyone does something does not mean that it is right to do.
