Huey Flight Test: Rate Yourself
HI,
I recently got addicted to flying the Huey. I am sure there are many out there that have done that about 3 years ago and so on. Then there are others of us out there that are starting to get the urge to fly.
So, that is my question:
Rate yourself on your ability to fly the Attack Huey.
My challenge is to destroy as many bunkers on Barracuda as you can in 1 run with the 14 ammo Attack Huey. Blown up ones count. Post your result here and if we get some big numbers, maybe we can have a fly off.

Re: Huey Flight Test: Rate Yourself
Ive never gotten a chance to fly atk huey on barracuda as theres allways another cas squad. Quiet happy flying transport though.
Was using it on jabal before but our team couldnt hold east or west beach so we got bled out in about 12 mins......wasnt a very long time for CAS
I like the handleing of it, must try get some more hours in the cockpit.Nihility

Re: Huey Flight Test: Rate Yourself
I can get any from 0 to 1. 0 from missing with every rocket, and 1 from crashing into the first bunker trying to strafe it.

Re: Huey Flight Test: Rate Yourself
There's almost always need for more infantry than CAS (and always more cas squads than cas available) whenever there's a hydra huey around, so I rarely get to fly it anymore.
Back in the day, (before hydra deviation) I could peg 2 bunkers and their assorted assets, because that's the most you would find clustered, and I never went hunting.
EDIT:
Well I'll be, it's easier now, set them all up in a line and it's just one after another! I got all four I took the time to set up, after that though, you're running low on rockets, in one run I don't think you can kill any more than five fb's tops.Last edited by mat552; 07-08-2009 at 06:11 PM.
BF3 is a good game, and when they finish it, it may even be a great game.

Re: Huey Flight Test: Rate Yourself
I've actually not tried to hit all of the bunkers in one run. I'll have to start up a local server and try it out.
As for the hydra deviation/slowness, it's simply wonderful. You can take your time in aiming at your targets instead of having all your hydras go from 14 to 0 in 3 seconds.

Re: Huey Flight Test: Rate Yourself
on a local I hit all bunkers when lining up.
With a quick attack pass run I hit 6, 4 misses

Re: Huey Flight Test: Rate Yourself
Due to the high demand, and the highly "exclusive" network of locked squads before round start, I have never bothered even attempting to fly in PR.

Re: Huey Flight Test: Rate Yourself
That is another topic for another day.
The thing to rember is you exit is as if not more important than you entry and atack. Most birds go down on their way out. Plan your atack run so that as you finish your run you remain conciled from enemy fire. On jabal this means high in low out using natural terrain to cover your exit. On barracuda this is more difficult as there is less natural terrain to use.
Tman you should host a class for beginer to advanced pilots. It would be a great way for some people to cut their teeth in this important asset.

Re: Huey Flight Test: Rate Yourself
I often employ a "go low, pop and fire" staying below hills and behind trees. A lot of conditioning from playing Apache Gunship games.
If I spend 2 minutes lining up each shot I can probably get most of my rockets to land. On quick runs, probably 1/3.
In a live game, I'll usually get a few shots in, take some fire, pull an elaborately complex evasive maneuver and crash upside down into the trees, dropping flares out my rear.

Re: Huey Flight Test: Rate Yourself
You did very well, too.
Belhade: When there's no AA I like to take it low and slow with multiple 2-3 hydra passes on a target. Gives me time to actually aim and see where the target is, even if you have a ground spotter it's easier to hit things if you can see them yourself.
