Re: Be Helpful Instead Of Kicking.
Sorry Soupy but that is pretty much what I am saying, you play the cards you are dealt. In my opinion if you are unable to handle a new player in your squad you are not a good TG squad leader. If you want realism you wouldn't be able to pick your infantry in RL, you would simply have them asssigned to you. Kicking people because they don't reach your standard, whatever that may be is your choice I suppose but it's not something I like to see happen. It's elitist and unfriendly.
I have extremely high standards, by that I mean the level at which I consider someone to be a good player, i.e. good sl, good co, good medic, excellent infantryman. If I have mentally noted a person to be a good player, then that person is probably exceptional, way above average. I'll be honest, large amounts of people don't make that grade, they sit in the middle bracket. To be fair the standard of that middle group is very high, that is TG for you. My point is that I try not to exclude people based on my supposed knowledge of their skill. On the other hand there is a significant group of people that I won't have in my squad, disruptive players, asset whores, disobedient players etc. Sadly a lot of these players aren't new and don't have the excuse of inexperience.
If you're SL'ing regularly then I think it is fair to assume that you have skills that other SM's do not, obvioulsy leadership ability hopefully, a tactical approach or a plan. By default if the other players are not stepping up to lead despite their experience they perhaps lack these skills. You are therefore 'teaching' them to some extent simply by doing your job. Why not teach someone who is very new, because they are not good enough, thats a poor attitude. If I get someone in my squad who is struggling to shoot effectively I try and pass on a few tips, it's fun and a reminder to the whole squad to do the basics right every time, myself included. Often the whole squad will take the new guy under their wing a bit, lightening the teaching burden on me as SL. I think that's a great example of TG, players bothering to help new players. Still it's your right as SL to have whoever you want in your squad I suppose, so as you were. I feel sad that new players are coming to TG and getting kicked because they are not up to some arbitrary standard. Used to be people only got kicked for not following orders or behaviour infractions.
Perhaps I'll start kicking regulars that don't meet my squad K/D requirement, perhaps people that fail to cover their assigned sector leading to their glorious leader, me, being killed will feel my boot in the seat of their pants. Perhaps medics that are unable to perform up to the level I require will find themselves rudely propelled from the squad. This is bad news for the corpsman community as I know some brilliant medics. Perhaps I'll kick regulars who perform badly who have no excuse and invite new players who do.
Doesn't sound very friendly to me.TG PR Admins: Fighting for YOU on the frontlines in the War on Stupidity.

Re: Be Helpful Instead Of Kicking.
I don't think it would be physically possible to ever meet a K/D requirement you will put down Wicks, you don't let anyone kill anything that even comes within 700m of us because you've already killed them, looted them, and slept with their mother before we even realized they were there.

Re: Be Helpful Instead Of Kicking.
Also should I kick myself on the days when I can't hit a barn door, accidentally HAT a Co truck with our CO in, lead my squad in to successive ambushes, usually after forgetting to set a RP etc, shoot at a CO truck full of bad guys with my tank unaware that a friendly CO truck is about to swerve in to my line of fire lol.
