Re: jet / mumble / ts / coordination
I only suggested it for what is arguably the most powerful asset type in the game. I'd say it's fair to ask that for one asset that appears on TWO maps, you can get on TS if you want to be in the drivers seat.
I am not suggesting that requirement for any vehicle but Fixed Wing Aircraft (F-16, A-10, MiG-29, Su-25, Eurofighter Typhoon, Tornado, J-10, and whatever they call their version of the Su-30.) That's eight assets spread over two maps.BF3 is a good game, and when they finish it, it may even be a great game.

Re: jet / mumble / ts / coordination
Nobody are forced to use those programs, but I think its a requirement to atleast use teamchat as coordination tool (its really ineffective, compared to TS or mumble). Like I said earlier; I react on players that latley been glued to some assets, but never/rarley respond/coordinate with teamchat.

Reporting would be a bit unfair IMO. What if the person can't install TS for some reason, sure some say it has no bugs, but do you have the same computer as the one who has the problems? Probably not.

Re: jet / mumble / ts / coordination
TS doesntīt work for everyone for some reason or another. A friend of mine who plays PR on his mac (in windows) says that TS always crashes his game. He uses Mumble tho... Might be something to post on technical problems forum...
But any case I agree that being in TS would make cordination work better, but we really canīt force people in it nor deny assets from them if they arenīt in it.Proud to have been part of the 101st Siege Corps of Engineers

Re: jet / mumble / ts / coordination
After careful consideration and a few good blows to the head, I think I was being extreme. Perhaps not a requirement, but the strongest suggestion short of one. I still say it's much easier to get on ts, but I really can't argue the technical problems bit.

Re: jet / mumble / ts / coordination
I have something I'd like to add to this discussion if I can without derailing it.
If you are one of the people that races to set up CAS squads at every opportunity can you please demonstrate some comms discipline in TS.
Teamspeak was not set up exclusively for you to babble on all round about your 'hugely important' job, talking over the top of infantry squad leaders. Constantly requesting updates on AA in the area, trying to task infantry to destroy any AA so you can carry on flying recklessly on unrequested sortie's etc. You are CAS, a support function, a subsidiary role. You are there to support the troops on the ground. Basically you should almost speak when spoken to, i.e. 'Is CAS available', reply 'CAS rearming, back up in 5, etc.
The constant clamours for reassurance etc that the pilots seem to want are not appropriate comms when ground troops are trying to co-ordinate. I regularly have to mute TS to be able to play now because of the same few players, I will not be doing this any longer.
Lately the epidemic of me me me CAS has reached a stage where it reminds of the old Spec Ops kit.
I applaud any attempt to get some kind of SOP's for CAS comms because at the moment it's not working. Bear in mind CAS operators, you are the minority, the rest of the team has a job to do.TG PR Admins: Fighting for YOU on the frontlines in the War on Stupidity.

Re: jet / mumble / ts / coordination
I'm not sure how mumble configuration works on the server side, but would this work?:

Re: jet / mumble / ts / coordination
Umh star you are gonna have to explain that to me I have no clue what you are trying to say. From what I can see the local (blue) should be going to everyone and the force center (red) only squad leaders. I don't know what you mean by pilot channel.

as said mumble is not really working for jets, so Startrekerns pic is not working.

Re: jet / mumble / ts / coordination
No, no.
The pilot channel would have it's OWN local chat, seperate from everyone else's, so that they can remain on mumble and still use force-center with the squad leaders (hence the red connector) and not get spammed by everyone else (hence no blue connector to everyone else). I'm not sure if this is possible, which is what I was asking.
All the force-centers except in the main channel would interface with the SL channel, and the helicopter/jet channels would not interface directly with each other.

Re: jet / mumble / ts / coordination
Holy crap this is confusing.
I like the RT server's simple layout: the whole server gets one channel, local only works. Or i think that's how it goes...

Re: jet / mumble / ts / coordination
Star I don't think its possible with the jets in their own local chat channel and still able to force center talk with others. The only two ways to solve this I think would be quit or mute mumble when you are in a jet and have a spotter in it or maybe they can add an option into mumble where it only mutes local chat but not force center. If you could only mute local the pilots could stay in the leadership channel without hearing everyone's local, but i'm not sure if it could be done.
I used to think everyone should be in the same channel but since you can hear through walls and other things like that I think it works much better with the teams seperated. Also when everyone is in one channel you sometimes have smalk talk which isn't allowed in all chat but couldn't be controlled in local easily.|TG-69th|chrisweb89
