Yeah, I accidentally do it occasionally as a knee-jerk reaction, too. Actually, I don't think I've ever done it in PR, but I've done it a couple of times in CoD4 on TG.
Rebinding it sounds like a good idea, but my hands are so messed up with carpal tunnel that I don't want to put them through any more than they currently go through. I'd rather do the startrekern technique than destroy my hands. Hopefully it doesn't come to either, though
Depends on how often this happens. If its pretty common, rebind the key to something else, so you don't do it subconsciously. Alternatively, you could get a bark collar, a small third party program, macgyver and make it shock you whenever you jump. This will let you break the habit.
About once a month I'll get startled so much that I jump out of my chair a bit, forcing my thumb down, which rests on my space bar. It it's an issue, I'll have to duct tape myself to my chair, to appease the occasional raged gamer.

Hha this happens to me too some times. Walking nice and calm then BANG!!!! ''fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu'' haha! good times.
tried rebinding the key. I hate it. I never knew I used it so much for legit reasons. I think I'd rather risk getting kicked once every other month until my thumb learns. (To date, I've only been called out once, and that was by my SL. Never by the other team. And I've never been kicked.)

I tried rebinding 'e' once after the second time I bailed out of a chopper in mid-flight.

Didn't work out so well.
Ive actually bailed out of a chopper found myself standing on the skids and said to myself.. "Oops how did that happen??" and pressed 'E' again quickly and was back in the chopper.. I crashed, but standing on the skid was cool.

Actually, if at a high enough altitude (Attack Helicopter) your gunner can quickly switch into the pilots' seat and the chopper will spool up enough to avoid destruction before you hit the ground. (As of 0.85)

Been done a few days ago when techmaster got kicked for SM. I had to take over the apache. We were bout 800 altitude and I fully recovered it at like 550-600
