Re: Are we using Mumble and TS correctly???
If all the mumblers switch to the same team (because about half or less of the people use it), people who end up on the other team will see that all the mumblers are on side that everyone joins and not bother to load mumble next time because there is no one to talk to. It also causes the unbalance of the teams due to the regulars who use mumble ending up on the same team (usually 32 -30 at that point) so any new joining players end up on the opposite team.
If we as a community want mumble to succeed we need to load it each game and stay on the side we joined (most of the time) so that both teams have it available for people to interact with. I sure didn't bother with it for the first month after installing because I always ended up on a team with no one to talk to.Just because everyone does something does not mean that it is right to do.

Re: Are we using Mumble and TS correctly???
Just like what snooggums said, if you load in and notice that one side has more mumblers than the other please don't switch. When other people then load in and notice your team has some they will stay on their rightful team and then both sides will have an even amount of communication.
I'm sure everybody remembers those teamstacking threads where we discussed have one coordination with 20 people and one with 3. Well mumble is the same thing so please don't make it have the same problem that we used to have on TS.|TG-69th|chrisweb89

Is that what happened? I went to play late last night and I saw about four people logged on to Mumble, period.

Re: Are we using Mumble and TS correctly???
In my defense, I am on sporadically and for brief periods of time, at least compared to the "old days", but the times that I do come on (late pm PST), the server is dying down and there are even fewer mumblers on. Oftentimes I'll join in on one side that has 1 or 2 afk mumblers and the other side will have 9 or 10. I'll join the 9 or 10 guys because I know that the server is about to die and it's really academic.
Besides that, I like a lot of the guys that use mumble and can usually count on it coming in useful, and being fun.
Slightly tangential thread arc:
My most memorable mumble moment (say that five times fast) was when lots of folks were using mumble, but they were all on the other team and I was on the other. Actually, everybody was rather mixed. It was Quai and a US squad had barricaded themselves in the mine with tank traps and razor wire. They had dug themselves in very well and they just kept all shovels on the trap making our incendiaries useless.
I was leading a squad in which one person was using mumble, and there were one or two smurfs using it as well. I came up with the brilliant idea to throw incendiaries on the tank trap and then I would C4 it as soon as it fell to the deployed, but not dug position. I shouted out this master plan in mumble for the two or three other guys to hear and instead the whole US squad inside the mine thanked me profusely and laughed at me.
I replied with a few choice words, but I enjoyed the encounter immensely.
