You are right....they sat on their flak jackets

    Re: Changes to the Huey...

And, from watching Gunny on the history Channel, the flak jackets didn't do much, but I hope PR pilots in .87 have some kevlar on the floor, because I enjoy shooting a huey from the ground, looking straight up and popping as many rounds as I can at it, even if it doesn't hit the pilot, I am entertained when the pilot makes a miscalculation and then makes a dive for the ground....or into a rock wall, or turns it on its side.

    Good fun.

The HP change is another reason why I love using the SA-7, or being in the deployed AA station.

    Re: Changes to the Huey...

Just to put in my vote:

Please get rid of the flying tanks.

No chopper should be able to survive two AA hits. Barely surviving just one seems far fetched, but acceptable.

Furthermore, the value of shoulder fired AA is null in this version. Even if combined with an AA emplacement, no huey pilot is going to get hit with one missile without spreading his flares all over. So even if you had a thousand AA missiles, the huey is long gone before you have a chance of hitting it again.

*edit* Hah didn't read the thread, but now I did and apparently it is being fixed, has it been fixed in this patch?

I've yet to tool around with the new hueys, but I saw one die to not-very-much fire from a BTR the other day.

Having unstoppable CAS on Barracuda was mighty nice.

They're much less 'invincible', but they still tend to survive missile hits, and I for one think that that is a problem.

Missiles should pretty much have a 75% chance to disable it, 15% chance to be destroyed near-instantly, and 10% chance to make it out functional.

Or something like that. That's my opinion.

I was on Barracuda just the other day and took out two huey's and scared the rest away with my shoulder fired SA7. It is possible to shoot them down. I don't know if it was just my missile or a combination of missile and ground fire, but those suckers went down and I got my kills!

    Re: Changes to the Huey...

I think an addendum to this title should also read "Changes to the transport helicopter squad."

You think that transport helo pilots who choose to be transport helo pilots were complainers before AA/Shoulder fired AA missiles enabled them to actually cause damage? Wait till you see it now when it is instructed either by the team as a whole or with a CO present to keep them grounded. One would think that they would form an infantry squad and help........not always the case.....

I like the new effects, it will be interesting to see if the "ditching" option is useful in those stressful times and if it happens if logistics trucks which are in the area are able to safely repair them.

Also on a side note* One RKG will take out a blackhawk, don't ask me how I was able to find this out, but I happened to calm across a downed/abandoned Blackhawk on Ramiel and upon tossing my RKG before being riddled with bullets I heard as my body lay there the crackling of a growing fire and then a "BOOM!"
