Re: the L85 doesnt exist
As far as my experience goes, I personally think we would all be better off with the L98
. My mate's gun jammed 8 times in 20 rounds. It's a marvel of engineering.
And, of course the L85 exists!
(from wikipedia) "The L85 rifle is a variant of the SA80 family"
Just think of an analogy: "Diet coke is a variant of the coca cola family"
So by your logic Diet Coke doesn't exist.

Re: the L85 doesnt exist
I got to fire the L85 when I was in Afghanistan last and liked it a lot better then C-7A2 I had at the time. It had an almost zero kick to it, simply amazing. For those that do not know the C-7A2 is the Canadian variant of the M-16.

Re: the L85 doesnt exist
The rifle Australia uses is something like that, Steyr or something. Something like that AUG. I think, I don't know anything much about weapons except that they fire bullets that are not your friend. I've only fired 2 weapons in my life myself, the Beretta and a .357 revolver or something. Both pistols of course. I have yet to try a rifle. Only rifles you can shoot in Australia, I think, are sniper rifles, as in when you are licensed. No automatics allowed.

"The SA80 is a lethal weapon, especially for anyone trying to fire it,"
The SA80 was so rubbish it was on the news regularly in complaints by soldiers, they tried to fix it a few times I think and this is the latest revision now, only took 20 years and a couple wars

Re: "The SA80 is a lethal weapon, especially for anyone trying to fire it,"
yes, H&K were contracted to fix the SA80 mk1 after the first gulf war, the SA80 mk2 has got several different internal parts that vastly increased its performance in dusty theatres. the SA80 mk1 was designed for a cold war European war (i.e. wet), not a middle Eastern one.
I thought the l85 was just the export version of the SA80. I wonder why we call the carbine version the L22.
