Re: Is there anybody out there?
Same problem here. Havenīt figured out what the problem is. I havenīt changed any settings. Some times it just seems to work and sometimes not. Itīs very maddening to hear the whole team talking all over the field. Happened today on Kashan and Jabal, which was highly annoying to say at least.

Re: Is there anybody out there?
I don't think this is actually wrong but personally it goes against my idea of a command structure and is syptomatic of bad comms and what is wrong with mumble (and to some extent TS if everyone is in the main channel).
I think people should report this stuff in the SL channel, it is then up to the SL's who actually need the info to decide whether this info should be passed on. The command structure should act as a filter, passing on only relevant info to the troops in the squad. As a rifleman you don't need to know about an AA 4 grids away.
I hear recon types do this all the time, reporting every thing they see to the whole team, this is uneccessary and unrealistic. Intel is simply not bandied about for the whole network to hear.
By only passing on relevant info you allow people to concentrate on the job at hand and remain focused. Far too often I have to listen to people who don't want to actually lead involve themselves in command decisions and discussions.
The best comms are timely, accurate, concise and directed to the relevant destination.TG PR Admins: Fighting for YOU on the frontlines in the War on Stupidity.

Iam here snoog.
I knew it! The mumble SL channel misses me.
I will however say that there is no 'in' crowd that rolls in mumble. However, there are usually the same 20-30 guys in mumble all the time (when playing).
So, if you end up in mumble a lot you will end up learning what guys tend to do (For instance, I tend to do infantry only) what and if you know they are in SL mumble then you can say "Hey Coug, all of ours guys went down W of you and we need a medic" (has happened quite a few times)
On top of playing while in SL mumble you can learn other peoples voices and can start to go on a first name basis instead of "Squad 1 to Squad 2" type of stuff. A good example of this would be (this would be one of the last convos I remember having in SL mumble so sorry cougar =P ):
"Zebra to coug" - Zebra
"Send it/Send traffic/Coug here" (would be a good response and im sure he said something like that) - Coug
"Our medic went down in the T-shaped building W of you. Can you send your medic over to get ours up?" - Zebra
"sure thing. After we finish reviving the rest of our guys here" - Coug
"A-firm" - Zebra
If you're in SL mumble and you are playing as a SL, giving out important intel, trying to organize squads together for bigger assaults, for repairs, supplies etc. then other SL's will respond to you accodindly. I've not met a rude person in SL mumble as of yet or someone who was ignored in mumble. However, I have not played in the past few weeks so things might have done a complete 180.
VCDreves: Your English is perfectly fine. I can always understand you when you talk in voip or mumble (not so much in voip when you are lagging). Much love to you my friend by the way. <3
Also, for those who can hear everyone you have to start mumble before BF2.

Re: Is there anybody out there?
Important question (to me at least):
Is it possible to disable force center in the non-sl channel? I think what Sirsolo is advocating here should be prevented. Important comms could go trough SL and SL channel, and no grunt should have the ability to adress the whole team, nor should he have the ability to spam us. At the same time, this would make the squadleader channel almost unavoidable to use when using mumble. How about this idea? What it's like to play online games as a grown-up:http://s3.amazonaws.com/theoatmeal-i...e_gaming/1.jpg

Re: Is there anybody out there?
While we're at it, I'd like to see an alternate channel that IS NOT LINKED to the main grunt channel in any way (even local), so pilots in jets don't hear the whole team talking but can still keep comms with anyone in the SL channel. I was flying a jet the other day and this was very annoying, I see what people mean when they have to leave mumble due to the spam.

Re: Is there anybody out there?
Although this isn't the perfect solution the few times I have flown jets since mumble has become big, i just quit it or deafen myself and let my spotters do all the talking like you would do irl. It cuts down any unneeded spam for me and lets me only get the info needed for me.

Re: Is there anybody out there?
No reason, IMO, for the pilot himself to be on mumble. Just mute it...
Your spotters should be able to accurately relay the information for rounds to go on target... Coordinates should be precise enough that most runs are simple "hit or miss"
No problem with pilots staying off of mumble - they have a legit reason, and they have enough to concentrate on without hearing random chatter.

Re: Is there anybody out there?
If you can hear everyone talking when on mumble and in PR, simply get IN and then OUT of any vehicle once or twice. This will re-link the audio and positional will work again.

Re: Is there anybody out there?
No, what I mean is, if it's UNLINKED, even as infantry, just get in/out of a vehicle and it'll fix it.

Re: Is there anybody out there?
I'm having trouble with Mumble as well. Mumble doesn't link to BF2, but the positional audio of everyone else is good.
