Re: What a way to kill the server???
So capping out a map is okay where there are 7 players on each side and everybody except you and your buddy fights over Dam with FB deployed on each side ?
And you just go to East beach and cap it out ? Not even mentioning Fallujah was next which would totally kill the server if we didn't got more players on.
I asked you politely to move back, I asked you again to move back and fight over same objective, but as a teamplayer you are you stayed, luckly they killed you before you could end the game.
But you're right there isn't any rule about that, so we are the bad guys trying to enforce rules that don't exist which could easily fall under common sense. It's like using heavy assets when there are less than 10 people on total, its not against rules, but you'll make sure that all those people on opposite side disconnect because there is no way they can kill you, they can't issue a HAT nor combat engy. Paine this is all foreign for you but if you would be European you would know how it feels to be MEC and be totally annihilated by LAV that thinks the same way as you do. On top of that there is no way to kill him. You know what happens ? Half of MEC quits, other half gets AFK. But it's nothing against rules, it's all good.
So what I try to do is confide the space on particular part of the map so people can actually have fun fighting. And they stay, thus helping the server.
Again I admit my mistake trying to keep you off East beach, I won't do it anymore, I promise.Last edited by orpal; 12-30-2009 at 05:36 PM.

Re: What a way to kill the server???
What is the limit for you to play the game normally? 10 per side? 20 per side? Map specific?
Maybe as a seeder he wanted to play Fallujah, which in my opinion is a much better seeder because fighting over the caches doesn't require as many players and doesn't cause bleed plus there is no need for request kits. It is also a 1k map, so it isn't like Basrah where you will never see the enemy.Just because everyone does something does not mean that it is right to do.

Re: What a way to kill the server???
If I had to choose a way to kill the server, I'd make it quick because I love the server and wouldn't want it to suffer. Maybe just a quick and painless power loss, before it realized what was going on?
Or do you think it would be better to give it some time to reflect on it's service to the TG PR community?
Either way, it's a morbid topic. I vote we just don't talk about killing the server.
LONG LIVE THE SERVER!

Re: What a way to kill the server???
There aren't any special seeder rules on our server. Orpal usually seeds it every day and tries to make the best of a small population at the start of the day by getting all of the players to agree to some type of controlled area to fight under. I guess this is a version of skirmish, but without the small area.
However, I'm going to have to agree that if the other players on the server don't want to agree to fighting over a smaller area or restricting asset usage then there isn't really a whole lot that should be said or done about it. I certainly am not going to start enforcing rules that don't exist that pertain to seeding.
I'm not sure what happened today as I wasn't monitoring the server at all this morning, however if something happened that Paine feels shouldn't have then I will echo what Cougar suggested, and that is to bring up the issue in the Contact an Admin forum or to pm me about it so it can be dealt with properly.

Re: What a way to kill the server???
Here's an idea: use seeder maps to seed! No heavy assets, no reason to create rules outside the normal ones.

Re: What a way to kill the server???
What a stroke of frigging genius!
Wow! Who would have thought?
Guess what? We do!
Guess what else? People join the server on those seeder maps, find out what the map is and no one is on it, then they leave. Guess what happens then? Yeah! The map advances!
I really wish I had all day to stare at CC and keep resetting the map to a seeder until it fills, I really do...
BTW - Snoogums is correct - asset maps attract people like moths to a flame.

D1spo,
Get off the forums go to the fridge open it up and pull out a few cold ones and open them up. Or make yourself a stiff drink. It's New Years Eve. Jay Cutler is not practicing throwing and you deserve a night off and a night to kick back and relax.
Pay no attention to Paine, he has PMS (PaineMS) about every little thing in PR that doesn't go his way.
If you get the NHL Network the Junior Hockey Championship is on and USA is Playing Canada right now, check it out, it's a great hockey.Randy = Ace ! - Warlab

Re: What a way to kill the server???
I was in the server during this on Chinese with an IFV team. The whole area where you guys were meeting wasn't some secluded point on the map, it was at a crucial chokepoint where all British vehicles would have to traverse to attack the current flag in play. My gunner and I were setting up an ambush in the nearby mountains where we would race down the hill and destroy any light reinforcements attempting to resupply the defenders of the British flag. We got lambasted for killing (I think) a Hercules, a truck, and an ATV when we were just trying to play the map. I mean, I can't tell if the vehicle was part of the lovefest or trying to kill our team when you setup camp in such an area.
I used to play the zombie escape mod for CSS where your objective was to move through the a linear map trying to escape the zombie horde. One player would turn into a zombie after 15 seconds who would try and knife, 'tag', every player who would join his attack. People all the time kept instigating these "friendly zombie" rules where they wouldn't shoot a certain zombie and he wouldn't tag them back so he could also escape the map with the humans. Eventually this just got to the point where it broke down the system and the game and the server had to make a no friendly zombie rule.
I realize this is just an isolated incident but I agree with Paine on the subject. If you want to do it, do it in a secluded corner of the map and don't subjugate others to a temporary rule. I would also like to say I would like to grab Paine's ass at the closest possible date, but even though I do, I don't want to subject my feelings towards Paine and his luscious rear upon the rest of the server.
