Had a really GG last night on Falluja map with US side. Our squad (marz88 as SL, I (desant_1), TG-23_centron, sazir, and later some british dude byrnzie) started out as reconnaissance unit, beginning our explorations in the south-eastern corner of the map (some fenced supply depot).
Being deep inside enemy territory in the city, I think we had a slight advantage, because insurgents didn't expect us to be there. Before our cover was blown by some random dude, who joined our squad and started firing everywhere for fun, we destroyed insurgent's suicide dump truck ("gary"), killed a few of them, generally did damage to their assets.
The fun part began when we got the intelligence on the cache in the North-western corner near the river and decided to spearhead the attack. Moving north from the main base was interesting by itself as ak and pkm bullets were coming from behind every corner and crevice. Without losing anyone we got near the cache buildings.
The blood bath began. Every bullet counted. winning a hand-to-hand combat with completely bloodied screen (no time to reload the magazine). All while reviving the teammates; running out of epipens; frantically resupplying them from ammo bags found in mountains of dead bodies. At the brink of getting the cache we were wiped out.
The second attempt was no less epic. With help of other squads we got back close to the cache, but ended up staying there alone because everyone was killed, as it seemed like entire insurgent team was in that location (i mentally thanked ourselves for blowing up that gary earlier). Our legendary AR guy (sazir) scored about 20 confirmed kills in that death tornado. i ran out of supplies and epipens, reviving him every minute all while keeping bottom floors clean and making for some insurgents the sight of my rifle's muzzle to be the last picture on their screen before visiting 72 virgins. When I and machine gunner ran out of bullets/ammo, we ended up picking up insurgent kits and faced the same fate as many insurgents did from us but without the virgins.
Even though we lost that round, the action was tremendous - very vivid battles - I hope they add blood effect in next release of PR (not sure if engine is capable of doing so).
As a faction we failed tactically - my guess is due to lack proper communication and coordination with other squads. A few occasions when squads cooperated, did not sustain during the round.
Insurgents had good mortar squad - they were also proven to be good on Barracuda map prior to this round when a round landed spot-on inside dbzao's fox hole with almost entire squad in it (including me).
Had a fun round on Fallujah West(Inf Layer) the other night as the insurgents. It was late and the server crashed so it was 15v15-20v20 at times.
Me and my small squad decided to harass the BluFor an RPG car. Loaded up with a PKM, and an RPG up top (I had one too as the driver, and we'd swap out when Stick, my main gunner, ran out of ammo). We managed to take down both CROWS HMMWVs at the start of the round and in total we took down about 10 HMMWVs and like 5 Trucks as well as a lot of inf. At one point my squad had around 60 kills in all.
Sadly the server died off since the match was going near the 3hr mark.

Last night I had a very fun time leading the build stuff sqd on Wanda Shan.
Orbital was my shovel helper and we set out from main to build stuff. I dropped 1 crate and a FOB at our 2nd flag and drove to the next while orbital shoveled it up. I arrived with 1 crate at our first uncapped flag and eventually got it up and noticed another sqd had put up another BARELY 250 meters away; this turned out to be a really helpful thing. I rtb'd with the truck and arrived at the same time as orbtal did on foot from his FOB.
At this point, we have 3 defensive FOB's up in great locations and I'm feeling lucky. The chinese have flags in Bravo 6 and Bravo 9 or 10. I race like a mad man through the forests in a logi that I just cannot flip if I wanted to. I make it behind enemy lines to Alpha 5 and drop one crate to setup a FOB getting prepared to assault Bravo 6. After we get it up and running, orbital and I take out our life insurance and write our wills and prepare to dash across 4 keypads of open terrain behind enemy lines with tanks in earshot in a logi truck to the next clump of trees. We finally make it to the cover of a forest in Alpha 7 and get another FOB set up there. This makes 2 very well positioned FOBs behind enemy lines ready to assault the next flag. Viking is running air logi and I request a 2nd crate at our alpha 7 FOB to set up a TOW and AA.
This is where the fun begins... We get everything setup but there is no one here to operate the defenses. They are all advancing on Bravo 6 from the east or spawning at the Alpha 5 FOB. So I tell orbital to man the tow and I get on the AA. Because most of our FOB's do not get destroyed and Viking is running supplies, we end up staying here the remainder of the round. Orbital single handedly destroys SEVEN tanks and one cannon APC. I also took down their trans chopper and wayward infantry that were trying to sneak up on the TOW. We were finally overrun by what I expect was a full sqd of infantry aided by a marksman hiding in the tall grass nearby. However, our assets were placed far enough away from the FOB that we could respawn and with the help of an APC and a partial sqd, retake the area.
The absolute highlight of the round was when I jumped off the AA to spot the APC that was approaching. I spotted it, but the tow was just barely able to spot the AA emplacement, and not at all where the APC was.The APC saw me and I dove behind the AA. The APC proceeds to play cat and mouse with a defenseless SL kit. I'm screaming on voip as the APC approaches to within 10 meters of the AA where I'm cowering to look down inside it and shoot me, but just then he comes into view of the tow and orbital takes him out at the last second. I now go to change my undies and collapse into tears.
The round ended with orbtal spotting 2 tanks together and destroying the first for his 7th tank kill and then getting killed by the coax while he pissed himself waiting for it to reload. The nearby infantry took turns dying to coax fire as they jumped on the TOW in succession trying to desperately kill the last tank. This all happened in the last 30 seconds of the round and it was amazing.

I joined the server at the very end of that round (Wanda Shan) and saw how several tanks and apc's rolled out for the final push. I don't remember seeing them come back... Just bunch of explosions
I sensed a touch of desperation on our team's side (china) and slight crankiness which was quickly discharged before starting muttrah.
You must have done good job on Wanda to stir up the emotions of hardened regulars
Had an excellent round on Yamalia as Russia the other day; I was leading a 5-man Force Recon team and worked alongside a few regulars, Desant among them (speak up if you were among). We moved some flags around and did a lot of textbook maneuvering successfully, whilst lamenting the peculiarities of the Russian HAT as LAV after LAV harried our positions.
Whether by air or on land
foes crumble at my command.
Joined about 10-20 minutes from the end of the Yamalia round yesterday, as Canada.
Started a squad expecting to wait the round out since it was so late in the game that I didn't think anyone would join up. Ran around helping to clear the Trenches at Bravo, eventually getting a squadmember. Before I knew it, I had 4 people in the squad.
The entirety of the Canada team besides my squad moved onto Lima, and I took the dirty work defending Bravo. I positioned us 4 at the bunker, with medic and specialist inside it covering NW to NE, lat at a sandbag wall covering E and S, and myself in a destroyed portion of a bunker watching S and West. We had all the sectors covered, and expected for it to be quiet, at least for a little while.
I checked the map in downtime, and one of our squads had reached Lima, assaulted unsupported, and were quickly wiped out. Shortly after, we received our first contact call... "Contact... Enemy, North, right to left, 200m... can we fire?" I told the two in the bunker to hold fire for a moment, as I positioned myself to assist in firing. One of the Russians moved out of into a clearing. "Light him up." He began sprinting, only to fall to the dirt a half-second later. "Get his buddy to the right, in the trees." This Russian was concealed partially by the trees, but after a few gunshots, his corpse fell beneath the bottom branches. "Good job guys. Keep your eyes open, back into positions." Soon after, I had contact on the West side. Two walking, 200m out. Called contact, but my guys in the bunker were doing the same on more Russians coming from the Northeast. Took my shot, and hit a Russian Officer. Another shot and he fell. His squadmate sprinted to an ammo crate left behind from the last assault. I hit once, and I kept taking shots at him after he was behind the crate, though only the top of his helmet was visible. After a while, he stood up and was hit by a bullet already in flight for him, and he fell backwards.
I called for support over the radio, and was graced by two LAV-IIIs providing fire on the Russians approaching from the Northeast. Shooting from my squad soon ceased after a few rounds from the LAV-IIIs impacted. I called for one of the LAVs to do a quick patrol to our Northeast. He confirmed and rolled up on a Russian squad that was approaching. We were relieved from the Northeast, but a few Russians had made it into the trenches from the North, and were coming up behind the bunker. They popped up in the trenches near me, only to hear the sound of my C8 rifle firing into the sides of their heads. More Russians coming from the West, me and my LAT operator opened fire on two approaching infantrymen, who dropped quickly.
It was calm again, and the LAV-IIIs called in to let me know they were moving out, going to provide support on Lima. A Chinook flew over and dropped a crate just over a trench to our West. I asked if anyone needed ammo, and that we would get it one at a time. I headed for the crate to grab some ammo, and took a shot. I got behind the crate, got up and tried to return fire, only to receive a second shot, which dropped me. My other squadmate had also gone down. The two in the bunker came out to try to get him up and provide some fire, only to be overrun by Russians.
We called for reinforcements, desperately trying to run back to stop the capture of the flag. We arrived when the capture was at 60%, and stalled it as best as we could. The LAV-IIIs said they were RTB for ammo, but we didn't have time, and told them that we won't have another chance; we were down to less than 60 tickets, and didn't have the force to hold Canadian objective afterwards. The LAV-IIIs wheeled towards us, and started providing fire on the trenches, but were soon attacked by a BTR-80A. They were no longer able to provide fire, so I and my squad made our last attempt to clear the objective, and began booking it through the trenches. We wasted two Russians in our path as we ran, and were approaching an enemy squad... but they had captured the objective, and our LAV-IIIs had been destroyed.

I think I was in your squad that day as medic - awesome squadleading!!
Had some really good games tonight! thanks everyone
certain highlights: playing cat and mouse with an enemy havoc over Obj Alpha on Northern Lights. Was hit pretty bad but managed to dodge and weave back to main, with the alarms ringing. Added bonus being that whilst loitering low trying to kill me the havoc was shot down.
beirut was a good contest of infantry fighting to the west of east city centre, got a good few kills with the M4+MARS combo. Good work by the IDF team to come back after what was not a particuarly good round on northern lights (or muttrah before hand)
and then silent eagle, wasn't part of the fighting but the amount of times that the silo and power plant either changed hands or went neutralmade for a dynamic game. Good clear communication allowed me to stay airbourne for enitre 2hr+ round without losing a huey.
so GG!

I caught midway through the Beirut round and after inheriting a squad led our small group on many successful missions, scouting for and finding enemy FOs. (I was IDF) At one point the Havok was called into our position, we had just taken out an FO with called in mortars and a mopping up ground assault, and I mentioned it over mumble SQLDR channel. It took a little while but shotcha drove to an AA installation and took out the chopper for me. It was a wonderful sight considering how close the Havok was to landing shots on my squad.
Silent Eagle was also very fun, it surely dragged, but was entirely fun. Many thanks to Animal's awesome flying taxi and delivery service.
I led Squad 3 on Beirut last night. Lots of fun to be had. I have no idea how Squad 4 managed to hold the little apartment center in west city center, but they dug in, in the first few minutes of the round, and never left. I love it when you get good firefights going on Beirut. Lots of good teamwork going on, for the whole team. It was one of my best rounds of late.
I think it was my squad in that apartment building. Good teamwork, squad mates following orders, and a rear FOB to spawn if one guy did happen to die. It's really hard to assault a building if you have a patient squad inside who are willing to watch the entrances.
Eight months later I finally received the reports from three peer-reviews on my latest manuscript with the University of Toronto Press. This will be my third book with the same press and the second...
