    Tactical Gamer Presents:

    The Ground Assault Event

    The Event Starts APRIL 14th 2012 at 2200GMT, 1400 PST, 1700 EST!

PASSWORD WILL BE LOCATED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE RULES THREAD CLICK HERE
We will be hosting a password event this saturday exploring ground combat on 4km maps. If you've ever wondered how a map would playout without that pesky CAS this is the event for you, we will be running standard maps, but leaving the heavy CAS assets on the ground. This event will be using DB's gameplay tests of only 1 HAT kit, and 3 TOWs so for a team to win they must bring the ultimate TG teamwork.

All rules will be strictly enforced during the password event, and any bans are automatic 1 week minimums.
The password can be found in the rules thread here

We hope to have the event started and rolling by 5pm est. So come out with your friends and get ready for some great fights on the ground.

Anyone willing to CO will be given a planning stage.

I'll make it early today, no promises later though . Lets get this girl rolling.

Whats the maplist? Any INS or Vietnam? Does ground only mean no Air Calvary ^^?

Sweet. I love 4km maps but sometimes get sick of having too many toys on them.

Maybe a match of Shijia Valley Alt? (I know, I know... I'm biased).

We're going to do maps that are usually heavily affected by CAS, to see how they play without it.

Hope to see everyone on nice and early, and on a full server tomorrow. We have edited some server files to give the maps a different feel.

Decent event. I was able to do big flanks without worrying about over extending and getting pwnd by CAS. Thanks for everyone who came out.

Re: April 14th Ground Assault event

Last night's game during the PW event were definetly worth the effort of setting the event up. Thanks to everyone for seeding the server so early and getting the games rolling quickly. The first round of the PW event was Siege at Ochamchira, and it was the best round I've ever had on this map.

At first it started with only me and baked in a squad on the brits, so I grabbed a sniper and him a medic. We headed to the western cranes at british docks bu didn't have any targets until erotichippo joined the squad with a rope. We then headed to the roof of the SW warehouse where we had a close call with infantry below us. We engaged a few enemies until a techie to our west blind sided, and almost wiped us. Luckily hippo was able to wait it out and go for the revives. At this point the militia had snipers and marksmen watching our roof, and infantry attacking from below, so after 9 kills we moved off.

I had a full squad at this point so we moved to assist the IDF guys who had killed the enemy tank, but were being killed by an enemy squad in the center of docks. The squad was able to take out all of the visivle enemies, and revive as I watched from above in my new spot. Shortly after reviving I had contacts running in from the south-est, and enemies showed up directly on the squad's position killing a few. After respawning, and regrouping we were able to clear out the SE corner of docks with the help of friendly squads. At this point in the map, the militia had always been on the offence and our team had done limited attacks on village. With the rest of the team holding docks, we moved toward village with marco, and comedy's squad. My squad went in on the west side with me up on an oil drum as marco and comedy got caught in contact to the east. After my guys got into the village and I had no more targets I moved in with them as we were capping. The enemy had a backup FB to the SW though and people streamed out at the squad. I was able to find an officer kit and retreat with hippo as the other squads showed up to reinforce, we fell back for a rally but just as I was about to set it up a random PKM popped up.

With no nearby reinforcements the other squads were slowly worn down and killed. I respawned at main and went out for a drive to the south side of village to build 2 FBs, along the way we encountered a full squad to the east of docks as we drove by them. I set the FBs up SE of village, and another one far to the west. Along the way we also discovered the enemy backup FB. After regrouping my squad outside of village to the west, marco's squad setting up to the south, and comedy's squad to the east, we dropped mortrs on village then moved in. The attack went perfect with no casualties, after which my squad defended the NW corner while marco and comedy defended the south. We racked up some kills defending the perimeter until the game ended and didn't have a single death in the last attack. Thanks to my squad for doing so great, and allowing me to get 15 sniper kills as your SL, and thanks for the rest of the team for their roles in the win.

The next round was silent eagle as russians. This AAR won't be nearly aslong because I wasn't in direct combat as much as the last game. I spent most of the round driving around trying to build FBs with TOWs to kill armour, but I think in the end my squad only killed one or two pieces of armour and that was with a HAT. We brought a logi and AT-mtlb to east of tunnel our first flag and when shoveling the TOW our mtlb vehcile was lost to a tank positioned perfectly behind a tree from the tow. Following this we had more infantry contact around the FB, and at tunnels which we were able to help the guys inside with. After an hour or so of stalemate, and the german armour slaughtering us, the team setup an attack on vehicle checkpoint.

My squad got a cow ride to the SE of the checkpoint, dropped a FB, got a HAT kit and quickly ran west of the FB to get a rally down, and a flank on the enemies. We hit and killed most of the enemies directly on the flag itself, and after a few of us respawned, they countered attack from a backup FB to the west. In their attack they took our rally out, and after my squad held us many of them as they could, the survivers fell back into the compound where our tanks were arriving.

A squad member and I respawned at mainbase and grabbed a truck. At this point we had their flag neutral, but they had also capped tunnel. I drove by tunnel and wait straight to our tanks, and remaining squads at checkpoint. Our FB had been taken out and the enemy armour was approaching. We setup two FBs, gave repairs to the tanks and with the enemy infantry taken care of, we just provided intel on enemy armour so our's could kill them. Soon after getting our FBs and a defence, the game ended with a german victory. The first hour of the game had been german domination, but the last 30 minutes our team really picked it up and had started working, and killing together.

Next map was kashan without CAS. I started a 2 tank + bradley squad while viking did a HAT humvee and comedy did infantry. Off spawn we rolled our tanks to the G5 village as quickly as possible, as my tank arrived there and popped out I saw 2 tanks rolling up the road, and a BMP setting up in a hulldown near centre hill. I told the team, and me and my other tank backed off to a better position to attack them from. Viking repositioned his humvee and HAT to the east ridge to setup a shot on them. With my tanks setup in a dip on the road just east of north bunker, my bradley setup covering bridge behind us, and viking preparing his HAT shot, I slowly moved my tank up to get s shot on the bmp. Joe hit the barely visible BMP perfectly from a position the other tanks could not hit us at. Viking's squad took their HAT shot, and as soon as it hit, we crested with our two tanks and advanced. The first tank hit with a HAT quickly died, and as we adavanced their second tank was able to hit our 2nd tank in the glass, resulting in a one shot kill. Joe and I continued pushing after their second tank and were able to kill it without taking a hit(I think), during this engagement we also found a third tank, and popped in and out from behind the wire to take him out. With 3 tanks and 1 BMP to our name we fell back to north of bunkers.

I moved my tank down the west side of bunkers engaging a few infantry, but most of them were either hidden inside, or just not there. Comedy spotted a HAT on the south bunker, so we layed low behind the hesco, from this position a full cow flew directly into, us and we got some nice kills. At this time our infantry had moved down to south bunkers, and the enemy armour had respawned. We popped a few more HEAT rounds into the bunkers and as we were doing this took a hit from a far off tank. I quickly dropped down onto the orad out of sight and sped back to base. As I rtbed, our bradley setup on the east side of the hesco to cover for enemy armour popping up on the ridge. It was also reported that a column of a BMP, tank, and AAV was flanking up north. the bradley killed the BMP as we were at main, and the tank never exposed himself to them. Rolling out of main joe and I were able to kill the tank, and meet up with the bradley.

At this point a small group of our team had snuck into SV and neutralized it so I sent the bradley to pick up comedy's squad as we covered, and killed the remaining AAV. We dropped comedy, along with our logi east of SV to build a FB and take control of the hill. A BMP was known to be south of them, aswell as a FB on the hill. We hit the FB, and the infantry that we could see with our tank, but our friendlies weren't able to push over the hill and secure the area. At this point we were in a standoff with the BMP, and the MEC AT-MTLB hit us from the rear. Respawning at main we were able to kill the AT mtlb on our way back to the fight. The BMP had also been killed as we respawned. Our team was still fighting over the hill, and as I went up to support them I drove into a spotted TOW emplacement which luckily only made us black smoke. We stayed to help the friendlies clear the hill, and as our logi droe to us, the eurocpter came in and killed our hopes of close repairs.

Our only other logi in the field was bullseye with viking at the center hill, but they were busy engaging a BMP and couldn't come, there was also an enemy tank south of SV. I decided to push up and try to cap SV with our hurt tank, and from the eastern hills of SV we were able to kill the enemy tank. With no armour threats I rolled up to the NW of SV and blasted the enemy FB and squad. Comedy walked in after us and completed the cap and clearing. At this point bulls was able to bring the logi to us and get us fully repaired. A tank was heard to the west of SV, and with 1 hit already on it from us, joe and I decided the only thing left to do was TARD RUSH! We then killed the tank without taking a hit. Our team was already neutralizing north outpost, so we drove up there, happened to find a FB in the open desert with a squad and mortars, wiped them, capped and the game ended.

All three rounds of the PW night were great rounds, and it was really interesting to see how maps play without CAS, and with the new AT changes. Big thanks to joe for being such a great gunner.
