Re: Working to realize the potential of PR
I'm on my way back into the BF2 arena. I played POE2 on the server a few times this weekend, managed to hook up with a bunch of TG guys Saturday night. I wanted to try PR last night, but it took me forever to download the full mod. Hopefully I'll get a chance tonight or sometime soon.
Only thing is that I'm encountering some issues playing (BF2/POE2 at least); I get a lot of skipping/lagging. It's either from my crappy internet that was supposed to be fixed a month ago, or issues with my video drivers. I updated my drivers, and things didn't seem any better (worse, actually), so I'm thinking it's the stupid network.

Re: Working to realize the potential of PR
I had similar problems, and after upgrading everything short of my CPU, I still get lag issues in large games. Smaller pop games (~32 players) are much more playable, leading me to believe that it there were some sort of network issues involved, either with the server or the game itself.Beatnik

Re: Working to realize the potential of PR
The Quatermaster only works when there are less than 10 players on the server. Anything more than this and they refuse to handle the work load.
Me thinks they will do their job with the next patch.(PO3) Marcinko_R. (BF2 PR .509) Squad Member

Re: Working to realize the potential of PR
Seeing how a lot of people are having RAM issues, perhaps having two 48 player servers is in order?
Would this require less RAM stuff for the player's computers to deal with?
However, this would cost more money.
The servers could have differnt map rotations and such.
One server more on infantry, the other more on tanks and choppers and jets.
Just an idea to through out there.(PO3) Marcinko_R. (BF2 PR .509) Squad Member

Re: Working to realize the potential of PR
RAM is all the models and maps and geometry. The GPU moves it all around. The RAM problems comes directly from how high the settings are for models and such. The higher those are, the more RAM you need. I guess having an infantry only map would help a little, but not enough to make it worth 2 servers.

The PR wikki has one mission briefing up now.
Feel free to read in order to see if this is somethings we want to do.

Just read Al Basrah SUV Escort
wow, lol. That looks fun.
It is like a G.T.A. mission. I am sure their are plenty of ways to get the job done for both sides, but only one tactic that has the best results.
Love the picture of the tango getting pwnd, lol.(PO3) Marcinko_R. (BF2 PR .509) Squad Member

Re: Working to realize the potential of PR
Sweet, goal-oriented mission gameplay. That's one of the things I've felt that BF2 has always lacked. Conquest is all fun for a while, but having to destroy a specific target or escort someone really makes things exciting.

Re: Working to realize the potential of PR
I hear you. I'll need to call up Tommy Vercetti to get the job done if i am on the tango's side.
He wrote many a chapter on car ambushes, lol.
However, I doubt we will be able to do this here unless a second server is bought.(PO3) Marcinko_R. (BF2 PR .509) Squad Member

Re: Working to realize the potential of PR
The next scrim should be on Extraction. This is THE game mode to play on TG. Putting in on the server will just mean chaos at this point. But a scrim, with it's 1.5+ weeks of planning, will be a prefect enviornment to try ultimate teamwork and communcation. This mode is unforgiving in that you WILL lose if you don't communicate with ALL of your team. I'd be the first to sign up or help in such a PR scrim.
