Re: Project Reality v0.5 Feedback
What I really find lacking in 0.5, is 64 player extraction maps.

Re: Project Reality v0.5 Feedback
it'd be nice to have a general [air support here] icon, for use through the rose for squad leads.
SL targets for air support, commander see's request and tells air squad to focus fire. i got in the habit in vbf2 of creating my own squad to use hud icons over uav or spotted enemy infantry pings while flying to great effect. this would make the process of target id and destruction a little smoother and realistic.
artillery is the most powerful asset a sl has, besides the rp. whenever i play co, i almost have to beg squads to call it in (i near abuse it when i'm sl). it regens so fast that having it go unused for 10 mins at a time feels so wasteful. maybe give the co the ability to call in arty via LOS himself, or give him a better command asset icon for squad direction. an order to call for arty over a location.
since the CO kit request is limited to officer, allow them to drop a global rp for their teams use with the same restrictions as sl's. nothing is more frustrating than looking at the map and seeing 6 squads and one rp, and an apc in the back line collecting sand.
lastly, supply and vehicle drops go much unused, even beyond artillery, mostly due to the 5 minute wait before it hits the ground. i can see the reasoning behind it, making SL's plan out moves in advance, but they could certainly use a shorter drop time.
if you read all that, you can see that my suggestions are mostly geared toward increasing CO utility.

SLs need real smoke grenades.

Re: Project Reality v0.5 Feedback
Forgive me if this has already been mentioned or is not considered feasible by the PR squad, but I'd really like to see some Russian maps, skins, etc.
I've always been fascinated with Com-Bloc stuff and now, having lived in Moscow in 2005-2006 and watching the insurgency in Chechnya get steadily reduced (not a single known terror attack took place in Moscow while I lived there, with one possible, unproven exception) I think it'd make for some interesting gameplay.
I realize not everyone has Special Forces (which has Spetsnaz and Chechen models), but there are plenty of Soviet weapons in-game already...the SF mod is <$20 now, anyway.
It wouldn't necessarily have to be limited to the 2nd Chechen War, either. We've got the Abkhaz and the Georgians, the South Ossetians and the Georgians, and any number of Chechen Islamists vs. Dagestani/Ingush security forces scenarios as well. To put it mildly, the North Caucasus remains an extremely dangerous place (forgive me if I'm being morbid, but that translates into excellent gaming opportunities).
These also aren't always low-intensity conflicts. There are several major battles involving entire Divisions in the history of the Chechen Wars, many of which the Russian conventional forces did not win (Battle of Shatoi, for example).
If the PR mod is only going to concentrate on conflicts occurring within the VBF2 storyline, I understand. But I, for one, think it would be awesome to set up a PKM overlooking a crossroads, waiting for an ill-fated Russian convoy of BTR-80s, BDMs and UAZik jeeps to hit that crossroads IED ambush.
Just my two kopeks.

I agree elcasey. I've wanted to see some russian maps in PR since I first played it. But I think the place you really want to bring this up at is www.realitymod.com. That's the main site for the mod itself.

Re: Project Reality v0.5 Feedback
Yeah, I have an account on the PR forums but I...I don't know, I just didn't feel all that comfortable posting there (this was like the day after I got the mod, though). I guess it's just a symptom of being out of gaming too long and then trying to jump back in with both feet.
Wasn't trying to hijack the thread and, other than the bugs and issues brought up plenty of times by others, I thoroughly enjoy PR .5 (first version I've played, though).
But who doesn't wanna run around with a green headband on, firing an AK into the air and talking about the impending victory of the Chechenskaya Respublika Ichkerii (in a game, of course)?

Re: Project Reality v0.5 Feedback
there are so many possibilites with this mod. afghan cave based mountain combat with a-10 support, mogadishu extraction, real world convoy movement with vip escort, stealth insertion and extraction on key infrastructures, high priority asset protection. the possibilities! too many

Re: Project Reality v0.5 Feedback
Last night I tried to jump out of the British transport chopper only to find myself running around inside of it. Any way to make that area blockable or to eject passengers more away from the chopper?

Re: Project Reality v0.5 Feedback
You can run clean out of the exits, can't you? I've read that it's possible (though very difficult) to deploy a grappling hook inside a Merlin and "fast rope" out of it.

Re: Project Reality v0.5 Feedback
merlin exit points are intentionally inside. try opening the ramp from the copilot position (F2) by pressing the W/S key.
all helicopter positions in v0.6 will be alot more realistic (no more jumping in a chopper from underneath of it...)

Re: Project Reality v0.5 Feedback
Aha, oh well. I exited and the chopper started flying and I kept getting pushed around inside and could not for the life of me even run out of a door lol
I rode a motorcycle tonight on al basrah for the first time, I'm sure someone must have mentioned it but juse in case, it's very very jittery and when you look left and right goes to a funny angle..

Re: Project Reality v0.5 Feedback
I'm not one for sniping really, but I really wish the sniper rilfes were realistic. At long range, they should be capable of scoring 1-hit kills. That's their purpose. I tried both marksman and sniper kits today on a private server, and found them as appalling as the vanilla versions.
