    Re: Project Reality v0.5 Feedback

This is how I see the limited kits and value of life should work.

The limited kits should be squad based, not team. They should also be linked to the squad leader. What I mean is that each squad leader will be able to choose a different officer kit. Depending on what kit the squad leader has chosen the rest of the squad can choose from a set of limited kits.

    Flight Leader: Pilots
    Tank Commander: Crewmen
    Recon Officer (limited): Specops, Sniper
Airborne Officer: Marksman, Support, Grenadier, Light AT
Infantry Officer: Marksman, Support, Grenadier, Heavy AT
Officer: No limited kits but can still provide RPs

Each squad must have at least 5 members (Recon can have 4) and can have up to 3 single limited kits in play at once. So for example an Airborne squad could have a marksman, support and grenadier while an infantry squad could decide to have a marksman, heavy AT and a support. The kits could have a timer on request but more along the lines of a 2-3 minute personal wait, certainly not a 5 minute total wait.

What kind of kit an SL picks can only be selected once. So once airborne, always airborne. I put the normal officer kit in for helo/jet squads who end up getting downed so they can join the fight while waiting for their aircraft to spawn later. The idea here is to allow each squad a chance to deploy special kits as needed but still keeping them limited and at the same time making the squads have to work together. An airborne squad will not be able to simply switch kit loadout to take on a tank. Instead, they will have to either hunker down and wait for support or fall back.

There would be some loopholes in this approach that would be needed to be covered up by some clever code to prevent Squad leader switching to get access to a different kits, as well as help in the case of SL disconnects.

Secondly, and something that PR seems to already be aiming towards with bunkers and firebases, tickets should be more than just deaths and bleed. Have limited kits cost a ticket or two when requested, have them cost a ticket or two when you die with one in your hand. Bombs and Missiles could cost tickets and would prevent the one side from sitting back and letting the air support do all the work while also making pilots think twice before using a bombing run on a single soldier/insurgent. Medics can have revives and quality heals tallied as tickets as well. Then, instead of having a point system have a +/- ticket score like in hockey. This will hold you and your squad responsible for how you use your team's tickets. I think this is a lot better way to enforce safe play than penalizing the entire team for someone else's stupidity or even an unfortunate accident.

I think these two idea could create a more dynamic battlefield where squads are relying more on each other to complete an objective. You might also see teams falling back from a position instead of holding at all costs because they cant simply switch to the kits they need for the given situation and thus loose precious tickets they might need later. Commanders can now play chess not checkers with a bit more variety in the squads he has control of. Instead of 5 run of the mill squads he may have 2 airborne, 2 infantry and a tank platoon to juggle and position in the right place to deal with a given threat.

Roger on that one. I prefer c4 or mines myself. If only the team I am on could discern the skull and crossbones as being a bad thing....... All to often some knucklehead will drive straight over our teams mines then punish for it. HELLOOOOOOOOOO, is this thing on. The light AT is ok on the lite vehicles (obviously) and I have seen 4 consecutive hits on a tank and the dang thing keeps on comin. I wish I could figure out the appropriate "dissable" areas on the heavies - still shooting blind on that one. Though, whenever I am in a tank, they throw cotton balls at it and one near miss seams to detonate me.

Don't let the bastards grind you down!

I THINK the area to ain for is the tracks, i have hit the rear before, but it doesnt seem to do all that much damage!I prefer C4 myself, lot more fun, especially if there is a 2 tank convey to deal with.....
