BF2 vanilla means the unmodded original game, Battlefield 2.

copy . I'm going to try downloading the 3 parts download off modddb, and dl the map pack see if that works.

I got all 3 parts 973 downloaded and the map pack aswell but there are zero servers and I cant seem to open anything singleplayer wise either and also the maps arnt showing up on the add map list. I figured Id run into this problem , facepalm

It's a Steam-related problem that just started happening about 3 weeks ago. Not entirely sure the cause of this issue yet, but the simple fix is to replace your steam bf2.exe with the retail bf2.exe. A proper fix will come in the next version of PR, but that is a fair while off yet, so use this fix in the meantime.

Download: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/33586919/bf2_retail_exe.zip
Browse to: <install directory>\Steam\steamapps\common\Battlefield 2
(<install directory> being whereever you installed Steam to, could be C:\Program Files for example)
Copy and paste "bf2.exe" to back it up, and extract the bf2.exe out of the newly downloaded .zip file and overwrite bf2.exe in the steam directory.
