Re: Project Reality Password Nights Are Here!
Ok, i finally found it. Someone needs to change the wording "CLICK HERE..." to look more like a link and less like regular bold print. Also, the pw.txt file needs to be pulled

Re: Project Reality Password Nights Are Here!
It's been a long standing TG policy to not give out the password to a server over TS. And yes, if I hear you do it, I will rat you out.

Re: Project Reality Password Nights Are Here!
Last night was a lot of fun!! Even though I was on the losing side, it still was a blast, I hope all PW nights from now on have the flash player included!! Once again TG has raised the bar and had much success.
And switch I will never tell the PW over TS.Randy = Ace ! - Warlab

Re: Project Reality Password Nights Are Here!
I expected us to get a few complaints about the new way of retrieving the password, but the reception received last night is pretty shocking. Complaint after complaint - people lost in the minutiae and not seeing the big picture.
What we've tried to do by including required viewing of a flash movie to retrieve the password is to raise the bar of play on the server on password night, meaning we're trying to make the server better for each of you.
Is it an inconvenience? Maybe, but it's not the worst thing in the world.
Are there kinks to be worked out? Absolutely!
Is it worth the effort for the admins to continue this? A resounding YES!
I'm not sure what everyone else's expectations are for password night, but mine are the following two: 1) NO SMACKTARDS and 2) excellent teamwork. By not having the password accessible without having to see the rules and expectations, we are defeating the purpose of password night. Sure, watching the same rules week after week is not anyone's idea of fun, and some may take it personally and be insulted by it, but that's just too bad. Look at the bigger picture, people. Those rules aren't there for the folks that already know them. They are presented that way so that the player who has never bothered to read them is forced to at least see them, and therefore be held accountable for their actions on the server. Therefore the results won't just be for password night - they will be for every day of the week, day or night, on our server. Consider this a massive public service announcement to educate the masses.
The reality of this is that those short, inconvenient little 1 minute videos are going to have a long lasting impact on the play on the TacticalGamer PR server, as well as any of our other gaming servers.Last edited by d1sp0sabl3H3r0; 04-04-2008 at 12:25 PM.

Re: Project Reality Password Nights Are Here!
It's a brilliant move! Those who are whining about it, don't understand yet. But one day they will and then they will post and tell about it. Just wait for that moment you sexy admins.

Re: Project Reality Password Nights Are Here!
I dont see the problem, and I'm not saying that just because I designed the movie. Seriously guys, it's 60 seconds long. The first thing the video tells you is that the password will be displayed at the end. If you dont pay attention and have to watch it again, well, I cant help you. If you're too lazy to spend 60 seconds of your time to get the password, I cant help you.
Want to know what my big beef is? The complaints. It's just as disposable said it is. No matter what we do, people whine to no end. People complain that there are too many smacktards because people can just google the password. Ok, so we put it on teamspeak. People complain that its on teamspeak and they dont have teamspeak setup and its inconvenient for them. So we revert to the old system and the smacktard population shoots back up. Revert to complaint issue #1. So we try making a video to show the rules and allow the admins to act with impunity on password nights because then EVERYONE has to read the rules. Still people complain.
So I have to ask you people, what exactly is it that will make you happy? You want fewer idiots on the server and a better quality of play on password night? Well that requires a little bit of effort on everyone's part. You want convenience? Well, I think a 60 second video is pretty damn convenient considering the tradeoff it allows. So make up your freaking minds people. The admin staff and some others of us who attempt to help them are working damn hard to make this server a top quality place to play and the bitching about anything anyone does isnt helping.
The bottom line is this: the video went over well. There was one report of stupid behavior last night. One. And that person has been guaranteed a ban next time he shows up on the server. I think thats a vast improvement over the way it has been previously. As such, I think the complaints that people might have about the video are null and void. If you have constructive criticisms (and i stress CONSTRUCTIVE), I'm all for hearing them. PM me if you wish. But the whining needs to stop. You cant have your cake and eat it too kids. Lets try and figure that out.

Re: Project Reality Password Nights Are Here!
The idea is sound Ferris and I am sure all the usual 'good blokes/girls' will think its a decent idea and take it in their stride.
Really, those who are complaining about this and other issues please think about this - the admins are making this server run really well, and not only that but they are not afraid to head of issues before they become a big deal (such as the rules not being followed etc) so that it continues to run well in the future.
The least we can do is not complain about it, the most we can do is thank them for the work they continue to put into the community. I know I do, so thank you guys (d1sposible, dirtboy, ferris, nardini etc).
