Re: Please get rid of
Yes. It seems quite clear that the maps that appear to be problematic are those very maps that require the highest levels of teamwork.
If we were to respond to these issues simply by eliminating the problem maps, we would be serving the lowest common denominator -- selfish players (and I do not have the individual who started this thread in mind here ... these are just general reflections on the dynamics of the game itself).
TG's constant struggle is to bring order to chaos, laws to lawless behaviour of what is frankly the worst sort, 'give me that vehicle or I'll kill you' type of mentality. This anarchy only exists in the absence of enforced rules. Any problems we have are to be solved with better enforcement (and certainly not simply at the level of the Admins -- this is the responsibility of all of us).
Ban the worst players, attract the best, and teach the rest.

The imbalance isn't too much. It's simply a challenge. Mind you, when you look at the antics (typically seen on the US team) of the losing side, it's really no great surprise they lose. It seems that everyone is capabale of identifying what others are doing wrong, but few seem to bother doing the right thing in order to compensate.

Re: Please get rid of
I'd like to take this time to petition asch to please, PLEASE add a static spawnpoint to Hamyong for the PLA. While it's amusing to watch a continuous stream of players die(as they spawn 20ft above the ground and plummet to their death as they try to spawn on another squads rallypoint), it was grating by the time those rallypoints were down, and people who were dead were getting kicked because they couldn't join a squad.

Re: Please get rid of
Is Ming referring to the well know exploit whereby the UK moves to the Chinese main and takes out their spawn point down in the Magazine? Wouldn't this be a violation of our server rules now?

Yeah, taking out the spawn point means that anyone spawning on another squad's rally spawns 20ft or so above the ground.

Re: Please get rid of
It's fairly common for a single guy or two to sneak round and destroy their main rally point while everyone is busy defending the frontlines. Ok, so people could stay at the back base just to avoid this but it's not exactly interesting or fun. Against server rules or not doesn't stop one person doing it and effectively wrecking the game for the chinese side if they get pushed back.

Re: Please get rid of
What happens is once the "sandbags" for the spawn point at the magazine and bunker are destroyed by the british and your rally point was destroyed or was never set whenever you try and spawn on a rally point not your own. You spawn about 25 feet ABOVE the bunker, and fall to your death. This is easily combated by always keeping a rally down for each chinese squad as then you can spawn on other points and not be forced to the bunker 25 feet above it. Generally this only happens during a British rout where they end up capping all the flags or when the Chinese do not secure the perimeter. These piles of sandbags that constitute the spawn points are IMO legit targets always for the Brit's

The A 10 and Choppers don't become useless because people use them poorly. They are by far the most useful tool for clearing known enemy positions. The problem lies in people fighting for them.
Now, if people actually waited on spawn for an order from CO, that'd make albasrah a crazy good team work map.

Re: Please get rid of
I must disagree on this one. It has become a main way to win the map quickly for the brits. Just the other day there seemed to be a squad whose only target was to go and blow up the spawn points. They ran through the front 3 without capturing, leaving them for follow up squads, then assaulted the 2 in the rear. Leaving at least 50% of the team unable to spawn. I believe that 3 total squads on the chinese side had layed out ralley's by the time this occurred (mine being one of them) and these were subsequently hunted down and destroyed. At that point the entire chinese team had to watch helplessly as 1 stumbling soldier staggered around and died before even the magazine or bunker flags were attacked in ernest.

Don't let the bastards grind you down!

Re: Please get rid of
Hold the perimeter along the radio tower, middle bunker, and south bunker and this wont happen. I know that sounds silly to point out, but it is the entire idea of the map for the chinese. Holding the flags isnt as important as holding the perimeter. Yesterday before the password session started I CO'ed a round for the Chinese where every flag in the "front row" was as least grayed, we still kept our perimeter secure and won the round by around 150 tickets if memory serves. The Brit's never once got close to our arty or our bunker/magazine spawns. The Brit's capped Radio tower first, but I kept squads up north to defend as if we hadn't lost the point. Once the Brit's can get established on top of the mountain via getting RP's out up top, the game is over for the Chinese 99% of the time.
