Holy crap, why dont we have that in PR?! I know for a fact that the military actively uses top down attack weapons, and if these guys have the ability to code that into the game, imagine the potential!
I wants me one of those Javelin AT's! I was looking around youtube and found this clip about the Javelin coming to PR in 0.5?! How mean of the dev's to keep it from us, too unbalancing vs armor...
No lie. HAT has already taken such a huge hit with the stabilization time in 0.7 that it's a rough sell already and not nearly as frequent in use as 0.6. But throwing tanks into the mix that can be driving over varied terrain at top speed and the gunner can keep a perfect bead on you is going to make it damn near impossible to play AT. Having a top-down delivery system would make it a smidge easier, and it would also eliminate the whole 300m "drop" problem that HAT has right now.
Ferris, the H-AT guidance system will be improved in the next patch. Also, it looks like the devs are considering making the H-AT a fire and forget weapon.
Eh, we'll see if it gets fixed. Fire and Forget wont help much if it takes a really long time to lock the target anyway. Plus, if its on varied terrain, fire and forget has a high probability of missing, making it just as reliable as wire-guided like it is now. A javelin cant really be obstructed unless the tank miraculously drives under a bridge or into a building at the last second.
It is not often that I encounter across myself when researching a topic. I found the following in a recent article on the uses of ethnography in virtual environments:
