Re: "Fear" of Civilians
Null, meet blue fire. Blue fire, meet null.
You remember how we never liked that silly IFF in dystopia? PR is the other extreme. You can't tell if a guy is on your side at a reasonably short distance. I doubt there's anyone here who hasn't racked up a few TK's. Fortunately, Ferris is a damn good medic.
You'd make a fine addition to any squad, just like you already make a fine addition to a dystopia team.BFCL TF2 league admin

Re: "Fear" of Civilians
I think it would be interesting to have civilians in the game on certain maps but hope it is a server side option to have. Would be intersting to TRY anyway.

Re: "Fear" of Civilians
It might be more useful if the Insurgent team had an imbalance in their favor. That way they wouldn't have to sacrifice valuable players. Also... this could be an interesting punishment for being a fragmonkey. Do you think there will be a way to force this kit on someone?

Re: "Fear" of Civilians
Think about this both of you : Can you identify anything the devs have added to PR so far, that didn't work to at least a reasonable extent? It's probably not going to be a server-side option, as the devs are intending to restrict many of the choices for server operators. This isn't a bad thing, because it's absurd to have short spawn times and FF off on a reality server.
This isn't valve forcing adverts and DWP on the counterstrike population. This is a bunch of guys who've given us a bloody good mod continuing to tweak and improve it. I say we give it a try before we complain about it eh?BFCL TF2 league admin

Re: "Fear" of Civilians
I'm not complaining; I like the idea. I'm just suggesting a few options that might appease those who disapprove.

Re: "Fear" of Civilians
I'm not complaining YET. I will need to play it before a complaint comes from me. What sounds crappy to me usually ends up being fun, PR turned out that way, lol.

Okay... BF2 was $20 at Target...
I bought it... although you'll have to wait a bit before I install BF2... also bought Stalker and the Starcraft battle chest. So, give me some time before I dive in and see what all this hoopla is all about.

Re: "Fear" of Civilians
yea, civilians are an experiement. will they be cool? HELL YEA!
will i play as a civilian when v0.6 is released? 90% of the time!
Will you like to play as a civilian? Maybe, maybe not.
But Root has right idea, they will open up several new tactical approaches to the game. The key is we are trying to DRASTICALLY change the way an 'insurgency' map plays out. Its NOT supposed to be a conventional battle. If you have any ideas on how to go about this, give em up ^_^
in the meantime, we will try our best with the ideas we got.
If you dont want to play an unconventional battle, then simply choose a map without insurgents on it (there are only 3 maps with insurgents, so it wont be hard :P )

Re: "Fear" of Civilians
Introduce an insurgent kit where the insurgent is skinned to look like a civilian. This could be a "suicide" kit or even an "IED" kit or some such. The USMC shouldn't feel safe in the presence of civilians knowing that any one of them could be an insurgent. If a civ is accidentally killed out of paranoia this results in ticket loss. It'll make apprehending and detaining civilians a priority knowing that some of them may actually be insurgents.

Re: "Fear" of Civilians
Hehe, so just think, if you knife one to arrest them, you might get a knife kill on an insurgent.

Re: "Fear" of Civilians
yes we thought of that atomic dog, although its not entirely out of the question, we believe for a first release it would create too much confusion for players.

Re: "Fear" of Civilians
Well... you could always make it so knife kills on insurgents still just arrests them and imposes a spawn penalty.
