Re: "Hidden" rally points
Ha! Yeah, I've noticed in PR sometimes my grenades are tethered to my hand with a rubber band and come back to me. I laugh it off when it's a smoke grenade; I see it fly away about 30 feet then come rocketing back and land at my feet. When it's a frag, I cry like a little girl. I'm also not talking about them richocheting off an object either. Oh no, they'll do this often in the middle of the air...
Anyway, I wanted to say I often try to conceal my RPs as much as possible, but as others have said, they don't land exactly where you're pointing. Sometimes they're below ground with just the tip exposed, sometimes they're hovering 3 feet off the ground. Who knows...|TG-1stMIP|Coridon

Re: "Hidden" rally points
I always try to conceal my RP when possible, doing this often means being in a tight location. That said, you can't always predict where the RP will be placed. I've mistakenly placed rallies inside things many times. It pisses me off when I can't find it to get kits, and it's cheap when you see your enemy magically poofing up out of a boulder.

Re: "Hidden" rally points
My guess is that the RP "spawns" in on you just like any other SM - somewhere close behind you so you don't shoot them in the face straight away.

Re: "Hidden" rally points
this is fixed in v0.6, no longer able to glitch RPs.
also, it will take 2 knife hits to kill an RP, so make sure to put them well before you plan to make an assault.

Re: "Hidden" rally points
Cool, I always love when they bury themselves and (as others have said) I cant even find the darn thing. Though it was an interesting thing to find good lil' spots to stick em I have been trying to put them more in the open though they do have minds of their own sometimes.

Re: "Hidden" rally points
Some more reveals of RP's in v.06 from the PR Forums
Post from eggman:
Rally Points are changing a lot in v0.6:
- must have SL + 3 members (4 total) in close proximity for SL to set one
.. rally points are typically just a hand signal given by a patrol leader to represent a rendezvous point on military patrols, and we want them closer to this metaphor
- they are much easier to destroy
.. knives are the preferred mechanism for taking one out, 2 swipes with a knife will destroy one
- can NOT set a second rally point if your team has lost a CP
.. your patrol is recalled
- 100m from any CP
.. maps are getting some breathing room by having some CPs removed as well as mapping guidlines evolving to have a good amount of travel room in between CPs
- they can't be wall hacked|TG| LoyalGuard

Re: "Hidden" rally points
I accidentally "wall-hacked" a rally point in Quai this evening. I set it up in a corner of one of the compound walls south of Government Office, but it didn't show up. Screw it, I said, then ran through a doorway and there it was, sitting right out in the open on the other side of the wall!

Re: "Hidden" rally points
While i should keep this to myself...
EDIT: Removed by Beatnik - no need for a tutorial on how to glitch an RP intentionally.
I try not to do this as much as possible. Although sometimes it can be the diffrence between losing the CP or not. I will not lie I gliche rallys quite a bit.Last edited by Beatnik; 04-29-2007 at 05:23 PM.

Re: "Hidden" rally points
After having posted here I have made a concerted effort of not sticking the rp's into anything. They still get camped and blown up but either way it is about as frequent. Find a shady spot and plop it down. If they find it then they find it. With the "remedied" situation in v.6 it will become a mute point anyway so better learn to have field thinking as opposed to glitch thinking.
When this game "started up" you could run the perimeter of 72+/- meters and find all the rp's you needed to destroy. Now most of mine are +/- 200 meters. a bit more running but far less likely to be found in short order.
