Re: Are you a regular?
i used to be a regular, had some fun times and cant play on any other servers for PR anymore. but you know work and such gets in the way of gaming. i should really get playing games again.
it is my intention to start supporting you guys when i get my bank sorted out, they have frozen my account because they think i am commiting identity theft - which i am not fyi - i have to prove i am who i say i am but i have none of the accepted documents so have to try and convince them another way. which also mwans i cannot get paid or get any cash so i am borrowing a lot of money until they put it right.
i think i will jump on the server after work if i am not too tired, so catch you all later. (maybe)

Re: Are you a regular?
I understand what you're saying MSDZ, and I can see where it might be frustrating to some, but it's really quite simple.
TG is a community. Some games allow for certain things to differentiate admins from sm's from regulars from strangers. Some dont. BF2 and Natural Selection are great examples of this. These games are two of the biggest titles that TG hosts. On the NS servers, you can clearly differentiate the admins from the SM's and so on because of little icons next to their names on the scoreboard. BF2, unfortunately, doesnt give this option.
Now the reason we all wear the same tag (with the notable exception of in-house squads, but i'll cover that in a moment), is because we all belong to the same community. Whether or not you realize it, once you decide to wear the TG tag, you're agreeing to certain things:
(a short list)
∙you agree to play by and uphold the TG rules, SOP's and guidelines.
∙you agree to embody and promote the TG spirit.
∙you agree to do your share for the community.
the last part is the part in focus. I'm sure everyone around here who is an active member of the forums can name at least one, if not multiple, BF2 admins, just from the bars under their forum name. as such, if any of us are on the server and someone asks us to try and solve a problem, we know who to talk to. we know that we can jump on teamspeak and ask for assistance. we know we can jump on the forums real quick and send up the proverbial "bat signal". the point is, theres no need to differentiate between us because regardless of our power-status, we all share the responsibility of keeping TG the way we want it to be.
that being said, the only reason you'll ever see any amended TG tags is for in-house squads, and thats something that's simply done out of pride. most in-house squads require an invitation, and it's an honor to be invited to join one, so it goes without saying that any member would be proud to wear the addition to his tag.
lastly, a good reason that the TG tag is universal is so that our admin staff doesnt have to spend ALL of their time policing and can actually play. A good example of this is earlier tonight on Mao Valley (i think thats the map), someone asked if admins were on and Santa responded to the call. he then was hit with a barrage of random questions about the map rotation, what maps were next, when certain maps were coming up, etc. this went on for 5 minutes. now, this is ok once in a while, but imagine being in an admin's shoes and this happens to you ALL the time because you're instantly identifiable as an admin. how much fun do you think you'd have playing? also, many of our admins are members of in-house squads, and BF2/2142/1942 tags have size limitations, which means that having a tag that said (as an example) |TG-7th-Admin| wouldnt work just because it's too long.
I dont think anyone could get offended by what you said MSDZ, and believe me, i'm sure it's something that was considered in the past. But we do things the way we do them because it works, and works well, which is part of the reason that you're here! (i'm sure if we did a bad job, you wouldnt have stuck around to give us your two cents.) Although i'd like to see as many people as I can wearing the TG tag, it's not for everyone. But that doesnt mean that you cant take up the torch as part of this community. Lots of people from clans and other gaming groups and even just individuals have come to call TG home and dont wear the tag, but we pay them the same amount of respect that we pay to others who do wear it. Everyone has a say and everyone has the right to help if they want, and it's encouraged but certainly not required.
on a side note, I thought shameless plugs were made out of rubber and plastic or some other material..usually different colors too from what i've seen in adult "novelty" stores.
yes, yes, ferris has a gutter-mind. you already knew this.

Re: Are you a regular?
To underline: Wearing a TG tag is Free!
It is not the same as being a Supporting Member.
A 'Supporting Member' is only a recognition that they help pay for aspects such as servers. because of this they are allowed to log in straight away over a person that doesn't pay (fair enough).
A person that wears the TG tag affiliates themselves with the principles of TG. (see Whiskeysix's post)
At no time will anyone force you to become a TG wearer, nor become a Supporting Member! (please refer to the sections in forum that relate to these two distinct aspects of Tactical Gamer).
The bottom line is that - you should feel happy to wear a TG tag: if there are doubts speak to people who wear TG that you can relate to. See how they feel about your concerns. We are all individuals, and if you feel that there are some paradoxes to who wears a TG tag - and so therefore you feel you can't, then take time to feel into those you do relate to, TG wearers or not. Give yourself time to feel comfortable to do so.
At no time should you feel that you 'must' become a Suporting Member - your real life is far more important and all that uphold Tactical Gamer will support you on this aspect, far and above simply becoming a Supporting Member.
Wearing a TG tag, is far and above more than upholding 'rules': it is about Community (again, see Whiskeysix's post). This is the essence. Paradoxes abound, your value is to find within the community your insight into it, and to work from there. If this means you feel you can't wear the TG tag, till you find it, so be it. It doesn't mean that you are worth any less - infact, it could mean more. The freindship value is more important, and if at such time you see that many TGers are good friends and wise people, then perhaps you would feel that TG can bear your name - as remember the honour is really that 'TG has you', not the other way round.

Re: Are you a regular?
Perhaps I missed this somewhere in the thread, but does becoming a supporting member grant you permission to a reserved slot?
I find myself clicking on that dreaded "62/64" again and again...8 or 18 dollars wouldn't be bad to make that a single click.

Re: Are you a regular?
Yes, supporting membership does grant you a reserved slot, among other things.

Re: Are you a regular?
I can relate to that, wasn't really using my noggin when I typed that on out. Had been there and done that with the clan I was in b4 with some players being pest. I can also understand that being an admin or member of TG wearing the same tag as everyone else would make everyone feel equal.

Re: Are you a regular?
Yes it does.
However, becoming a supporting member and/or wearing the TG tag does not exempt you from the rules, so make sure you do your homework before doing either one.
We try to run our servers here at TG based on tactics, teamwork and maturity. If you read through our rules and not only agree with them but can abide by them, by all means, wear the tag and become a supporting member when you get a chance!
Just make sure you realize you are now representing Tactical Gamer, and if you're found in violation of the rules you may still be w/k/b the same as anyone else on the server.
Being a supporting member is not a "get out of jail free" card. We expect both those wearing the TG tag and those supporting members to be examples of the playstyle we attempt to promote around here.|TG-1stMIP|Coridon

Re: Are you a regular?
Depending on your payment method, it can be immediate or take several days for it to be registered on the forums. You'll get the SM tags under your name when it happens. Once that is done, then make sure your BF2 player profile ID is in your forum profile. Once that is in place, it usually takes 15 minutes to register on the game servers.
If there are questions or issues about payment, please contact Apophis.

Re: Are you a regular?
Went in and played a little nilla BF2:AF the other night and got kicked from the server I was on. I got in a LB and was just goofing around flying, taking out the enemy LB and the MI-28 on the map Operation Harvest, doing some fancy flying through the bridge trellis's and side spins. They called me a hacker and then kicked me, lol. I kept trying to explain that if they could download and play PR then they would understand why I was able to fly so good. I did feel like GOD compared to them though, lol.
