I make no bones about the fact that I'm a complete postwhore.
However, I do agree with your following statement that this is a very relevant issue, especially seeing as how the medic is a limited kit now. I can remember a time when people used to leave the server if they got "stuck being the medic". Now people fight over it. What a crazy crazy world.

Yes, I got my beer, in case you couldnt tell.

Plus of all the threads I have tried to ressurect from the PR storage box, I have to say this is the one that was relevant back in the .5/.6 days and is still if not more relevant now.

As someone else mentioned, mumble as well as having a squad member type it out in team chat or being able to say it over TS or in squad voice, trying to tell the player you are reviving to head to a direction or to stay prone is a good way to help prevent his head from getting shot off and not being allowed to revive.

Too many times I have seen medics in the front of the pack, trying to get the first shots off.

When asked to be the medic, or when volunteering, you must remember you are not in most cases going to be the guy who rushes in and blasts away. Yes some scenarios will allow you to do that, but when the proverbial feces hit the fan you are going to be the guy to come in and mop up the area, and if need be take care of any hostiles that are still causing trouble.

Nothing can be more confusing/aggrevating when all of a sudden the guy who goes down is the medic...and then he get revived and the player who was the AR kit, or something like that says "can we switch back." That's when I say as the SL "No" your the medic now, your job is to stay alive, stay more in the rear, cover the flanks, and keep the squad alive.
I play medic mostly, so Randy's statement here makes a lot of sense. When with the squad I am not in front during the battle I remain a little behind or cover a rear flank so that I can move up and help heal or revive downed squad mates. I try to position myself closer to the squad leader if possible in these situations so as to keep him alive and healthy to help direct the squad. Before I shoot I call out contact so as I can get just cover a squad mate in taking the opposition out. I always ask the SL if they are sure they want me to go in firing in line with the squad if they say yes then I do it, most of the time they say belay that order and stay a little behind.

As for getting revived and ending up with a different kit I don't mind until we get totally wiped out. It's actually a nice change at times.

When reviving a squad mate, I am always telling him either to stay put or move in my directions after the revive, so communication as a medic is truly important. Although it is frustrating when doing a revive and the person being revived does not follow instructions. It happens though. Also, don't be quick to give up, that should be a number one, most of the time I am reviving folks and come to find the next person to revive in the middle of being shot at gives up or has given up without telling me.

i always give the person i am going to revive a general direction where to move after the revive. like North East or West, no numbers.
a good communication, as always, is the key

Re: When you get revived, chances are you should move!

I'm almost exclusively a medic. If the situation demands it, I will give a N,S,E,W direction for the fallen comrade to run to when I revive him/her. I always resuscitate before I epipen. If the first epipen fails, I throw a bandage on top of the guy, then epipen. That works 95% of the time for me. I always stay in the back of the squad and do a shallow flank to either the left or right (depends on terrain, objective, etc...). If I do my job correctly, I will be the last person to die in the squad.

It is frustrating when you revive somebody that moves around like he does not know where he is.

When you get killed any medic that is paying attention to his squad will see the red circle on his mini map so just relax and he will get there.

No need to ridicule the man who has just revived you the last five times over VOIP.

Which bring up another point. Let me know how much time you have. Squad communication is incorporated in Project Reality for a reason.

And don't get upset when I revive you without a heal right. Chances are I am either trying to revive other squad members or more importantly the Squad Leader. In my book the Squad Leader is the main priority so that other squad members can spawn and provide support.

I for one am not really worried about killing 30 people a round as I am keeping squad members alive so that we can get the task at hand accomplished.
    ^^

and don't give up. and don't stick your body through walls and yea, 'follow me' means come to where i am, in cover.
