Re: Password Nights - A dying breed

Well PW night must start by atleast 9:00 GMT becuase any later and you will looose alot (10%+) of European players.
If i rember correctly, it used to start at 8:30GMT, which was a great time for me becuase t meant i could crack in a good 2.5 hours play, uptill 11:00.

If you have password server up early, it will result in a more people playing overall past 11:00 becuase intialy the server will be filled with mainly European players, there numbers willl encourage more players BUT when they start leaving (between 11:00 - 1:00) they will just be replaced with players from America (south/north).

Also, the poor show on PW nights, corresponds to a poor show on TS. Really Tactical Gamer should have atleast 5 - 10 people always on that damn TG TS server past 10:00 pmGMT (5:00 pm ish in the US) DURING REGULAR PUBLIC GAMES and 15 - 25 DURING PW NIGHTS.

Teamspeak = no excuses on poor communication, the only thing stoppping you from winnign is yours TACTICS not the highly mediocar comm system BF2 provides.

NO EXCUSES FOR NOT GOING ON TS = NO EXCUSE FOR NOT GIVING TACTICS YOUR EVERYTHING ADN ALL!

I'd say it's simple. When I use any voip client (msn/xfire/..) my game doesn't lag, yet if I use TS in any possible configuration, my screen locks up every 2 sec. The reason is it is not healthy for a lot of pc's to run two voips at once. To me, TS = after match chatter.

Also like someone else said, I prefer a low pop good quality pw night over a bunny-farm. We might even get Gahlas to play with us again!

BigGaayAl i am totaly and uterly understanding of the fact many people cant run TS and i dont think that becuase such a fairly large number cant run TS IS A PROBELM ATALL!

BUT there are many people who can run BUT choose not too becuase they quite simply dont see a point in doing. I and We have to some how perswade these people that it is worth running it.
HOWEVER trying to fit: "It does not matter if yuou cant run TS for this reason" into messages trying to perswade al players in general to use TS is difficutl because it makes those who can run TS, think it is ok if they dont run it becuase so many others are nto - ignorign the critical reason THAT SOME HAVE A DECENT REASON NOT TO RUN IT but they dont have a decent reason.

I do think it is possible for a large number to run it becuase there are many scrims and tournements that require all players to use TS and many many players take part in them.

IS 5 TEAMSPEAK USERS PER TEAM SO MUCH TO ASK?

I don't run TS more then I have to, the voice quality is only marginally above 2 cups and a string and that gets on my nerves pretty quick. I understand the underlying reasons as to why it is used over better sound quality VOIP programs, but, *shrug*.

i was playing last tue and that was just awesome, the 1st map was providence and my SL was awesome, then we play a few maps and all was very good, until we lose the electricity in half of my country for about 12 hours.

that was the 1st time i enjoy pass night too bad those guys never invite me to their squad anymore and too bad i lose the electricity.

Nothing wrong with Phoenix after the AAS changes. It's balanced as long as USMC have a CO.

No, of course it isnt, and very frequently there are much more than 5 per team on teamspeak. However, we dont all sit in the PR channel. When my IHS-mates are in game with me, I move down to the 6th channel, many people do the exact same thing with their squads. So perhaps it isnt that people are not on teamspeak, but moreso that they dont idle the PR channel.

I dont see that it can be balanced unless the usa team are coincidentally and consistently worse then the mec players.

Also Im not sure what difference a co would make on this map particularly but for it to be balanced obviously mec would have theirs also

Out of shock I took a screenshot of a usa win:

This map is too tight, theres barely space to put down a RP and one flag can be defended and fired upon from the next. USA need a foothold and village is the only slight outcrop discounting slum which I suppose has to be the hq.

Often I find the USA running through slum when they havent even captured one flag, its really irratating because it means they start to spawn kill at slum but imo people will follow the path of least resistance (I dont think they really mean to assault slum) and if my theory is right, this would explain why it happens.

I think river village should be a valid target instead of construction.
The USA could rush the left flank and we'd have a real battle on our hands. Maybe it'd tip the scales too far but its worth playing I reckon

As far as TS goes I think just getting just SL on there is a better idea. I use TS for bf2 squad games and 12 people speaking at once is a waste of time and distracting, thats with players that practise together every week so 32 random pub players would be a cacophony I imagine

If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have obviously failed to plan properly.

I would love to see Project Reality evolve to the point where it is properly played I.E. Tacmod style. Untill then I won't be playing hardly anymore. Small games in the 24 player range were unbeliveable in Tacmod. I may start playing if I see low games with some great players on. Any mod can shine in that light. Bring on the low population games, they rock! I think any casual gamer would agree.

Re: Password Nights - A dying breed

NO WONDER PEOPLE DONT play on the password server much - THEY CANT FIND THE PASSWORD or info on what it is.

THis is absurd, the thread that clearly explains what passwordnights are about and what the password IS DIFFICULT TO FIND on the project reality tactical gamer forum!

I have managed to perswade 2 new players to join the forums today and join the password night tonight, which they are very much looking forwed too. HOWEVER i dont think they will be able to find the password on the forum.

After a good 10 mins of looking, which will result in many players just leaving, i did finaly find PW info:

    http://www.tacticalgamer.com/battlef...ghts-here.html

Therefore IF THE NUMEBRS OF PLAYERS IS STILL TO LOW it could be suggested that A new and entirely seperate thread should be created.

Re: Password Nights - A dying breed

Well TopCat, the information is contained in the READ FIRST post at the sticky section of this forum.

Password nights are NOT for people creating a forum account to get the password. Password nights are for people registering and taking the time to read ALL the required reading, agreeing and understanding ALL rules.

Whoever can't make it to the end of the READ FIRST post does not deserve to play on password nights.

Re: Password Nights - A dying breed

HAHAHAAAA LOL. THAT INCLUDED ME........*sad face*.

Top Cat hence forth will no longer be taking part in Password nights.

*i only found the thread after thsi highly intensive thread around the subject, so no chance otherwise.

SERIOUSLY: You make a good point. It is a balance between filling the server with players BUT ensuring those players are of high quality.
By making the details and PW to PW night harder to access, you in theory increase the chance that the average player will be of greater quality BUT increase the chance (in a community of this size AT PRESENT) of decreasing the actual number of players who attend it.
By doing the opposite to the ease at whcih the details can be accessed, you increases the chances of the entire opposite happening.
This is why, finding a balance is SO UTERLY CRUCIAL.

You have thrown me slighty dawolf and i thank you for that. However not until i have played a few password nights (RL and late timing prevented it previously) - tonight and next thursday will i be able to formulate an informed opinion on both the:
    - QUality of players
    - Number of players.
THerefore any possible susquent action that should be created OR possible whether NONE ATALL shoudl be made.

However i stand by my actions of actively promoting the Tactical gamer webiste and its forum to ALL PLAYERS i deem respectable/good and the advantages of doing so, PASSWORD nights be one of them.
