I favour reverse bounding screaming like little girls .

I think what I prefer would be more like the Australian peel; you often want to make a lot of noise to keep the enemy away, yet interested to follow you into your territory, often outflanking themselves.

If you step back a 100 m from where the enemy was, most likely you know 1) where he is (your old position) and 2)where he is moving to (your new pos).

I usually yell " Time out my shoe has come untied" when the enemy gracefully grants me my moligan, I run like a sissy girl.

I've got a BattleRecorder file of myself pulling that stunt against Insurgents on Helmand...now I just need to find out how to record narrative over the video.

Re: Tactics on the decline on the TG server

I have asked this before so excuse me if this is a covered topic...

Can there be a night or time when the TG PR admins select SL's based on past performance to be designated SL's? Maybe the admins themselves take the SL spots. These volunteer/selected SL's, who exemplify leadership and use of tactics would then teach, with their field leadership, the teams that join them. I know that I for one want to SL, but take the support role seriously and would greatly benefit from working with various proven SL's.

E Male, Warehouse, Big Al, Wimpinator, Dirtboy, etc, have all made me a better player coming over from Vanilla. So have many that just know how direct a squad.

Sounds like a PW night, but I think it can be more than that?

thoughts? Should I just go back to my beer?

Good idea, but cant really happen because theres no way of making someone unmake a squad or get out of the SL position short of kicking them. That being said, I think there are lots of people who frequent the server who would have a problem with the prospect of creating a squad they fully intended to lead to the best of their abilities and wind up getting kicked because theyre not on the A-List.

Oh, I agree Ferris. I was thinking of a PR TG game night with PW for this set up. Maybe set up like a tournament night or time. Once in a while just to give everyone the feel of what is expected from SL's, and what good SL looks and Sounds like. could be a Squad leader, squad member training session...like the flying sessions....so many new members joining all the time, I know I learned from many of you and really enjoy knowing that I just joined up with a SL that is serious.

You guys just gave me an idea. When you are leading a squad, and you are not in combat and waiting, you can do small drills, like practising suppressive fire with fire-teams. PR does offer a lot of non-combat time, I might try this with a suitable squad. This could work well in arma too, and other slow paced games.

Re: Tactics on the decline on the TG server

I usually look for a SL that has a TG tag then I know I will be in a squad that is down with teamwork (Especailly Drill SGT WAREHOUSE). What amazes me is that I was never great at BF2. I usually had an even KTD %, but more often than not I am in the top 5-10 in PR and this is contributed to being part of a good crew.

On another note. I think things are getting rough when a TG SL has to inform the squad that he can't be SL because there are too many admin responsibilities to take care of then you see the board light up with warnings and even a ban ( Wimpinator, sorrry that your game play was disrupted). I guess I can't put my brain around the fact that there are people out there that just can't follow rules. Maybe it is that some people's enjoyment comes from being a nuisance or dirupting what just might be other's relaxation.

don't worry about it, let's focus on how to improve the tactical play on the server.

Personally I like Al's "boot camp" idea. I would also like to see more of the veteran players stepping up as SL and teaching the newer folks the way of the TG. Perhaps the comeback of the "Learn TG" squads is in order.

Re: Tactics on the decline on the TG server

I was thinking about setting up an Ambush-Training session, where a SL could practice maneuvering from point A-B in formation before encountering an enemy ambush.
I would like to work on that initial "VANILLA" response that most players have to immediately open fire at enemies at range, and on the expected VOIP comms that need to be relayed to the SL during those first crucial seconds.

Every time I get serious about hosting this session, however, I play in a pub and realize that a good majority of the players either lack VOIP or lack common sense...and can't find the 10 players that would be needed to host it.

There could be target ranges at the HQ bases on each map, seems in theme to me

Austrailian Peel is my favorite, It gives the since that you have a large forces in the area, Lots of fire, smoke, explosions It is really good when you have atleast 2 automatics. Also provides a nice stream line tactic where you rely on your teammates

I think the server should be passworded for a few hours every night now for a while to force the really dedicated new players to do their research, visit TG and read the rules. Lets weed out the incorrigible spastics and start bringing the good new PR fans into the fold. The pub sessions are so bad now good player are turning on each other. I just got into an argument with a well respected TG player who I have no quarrel with over the fact that no one was respecting the CoC. I just can't type fast enough to try and report all the asstactical maneuvers I see these days. I wish there was a way to make people read the rules BEFORE joining TG servers. So many people rejoin hell bent on destruction because they were "unjustly" kicked.

Re: Tactics on the decline on the TG server

I support adding PW nights. We have had a HUGEEEE traffic increase since .6 went final. While new faces are always appreciated, for many its just flat out thier first couple of experiences with PR.

PW nights in my opinion bring the following:
    1. Players who are dedicated enough to play on TG that they are willing to find the password instead of just play on another server.
    2. Generally a good strong TG presence, allowing for more experienced SL's.
    3. EAsier on the admins, giving them more time to play

The first is what I find the be the most important and most problematic issue on our server. Alot of players just play whatever server has the most people/map they like. They dont know any of the regulars and dont know the rules. Although, I think what sets TG apart from many servers is that regulars help self inforce rules/chain of command. You dont find this on other servers.

Alot of people just dont run tight squads. At all. While PR is not real life, a good amount of communication and teamwork is required. If the SL asks you to be a medic and says specifically no snipers, DONT DO IT! If the SL is able to make orders, he's probably doing them for a purpose.

Overall, start being SL's. If you arent confident in your leadership abilities, I'd suggest joining Dirtboy/Warehouse whenever possible. Gumball and I run squads whenever we're excluded from other squads or we just feel like running a squad. (But he's gone for like, another week i think ...)

While I'm talking about squads I'd like to mention that if you see a specialty squad...try your best to leave thier assets to them. I run a dedicated Sniper/Spotter squad at least once every couple of rounds. I cant tell you how frustrating it is to see ex. "uber1337sniper666" snatching the last sniper kit while you've been patiently waiting for it. While many consider snipers to be lone wolfs and not team players, I will almost 99% of the time think of the team first in the placement of fire. Not for kills. I've argued with guys before because I didnt "Have enough kills" and was "sniper hogging." Snipers arent always about kills. Sometimes targets of oppertunity, like turrets or SL's are more important than the KDR. While there are rounds where the sniper squad I run do an astronomical amount of damage, there are some that just flat out go slow and we dont get many kills. I dont mind, because sniper/spotter squads perform as SPOTTERS alot. Team chat is valuable, and I recogonize its value.

Just my two cents on that.
