I'm relatively new in comparison to a lot of the guys but I would be interested in some infantry only perhaps with a few helos for fast inserts. Perhaps a new map or a reworked old map where one team has to in effect defend various locations and the other side has the option to insert via helo, obviously there main base would be further out. this would allow for some of the better pilots on the server to show off their insertion skills, ie false insertions, flared landings at speed etc. Set at dawn or dusk I think this sort of thing would look incredible and add a nice twist to proceedings. Just a thought. I have occasionally found the large desert maps a bit dull when one sides armour is shall we say perhaps not performing at 100%. It kind of degenerates into hiding in bunkers getting hammered. Not advocating any major changes or getting rid of anything just a little variety, got to be worth a try.

One of your local friendly admins (i.e. me) is going to organize it, try it out, and see how it flys.

    Cheers

    It is the rule in war, if ten times the enemy's strength, surround them; if five times, attack them;
if double, engage them; if equal, be able to divide them; if fewer, be able to evade them; if weaker, be able to avoid them.

Re: Is there interest in an infantry day?

The Infantry closes with the enemy by means of fire and maneuver in order to destroy or capture him or to repel his assault by fire, close combat, and counterattack.

Infantrymen must be proficient in marksmanship, close combat, and fieldcraft. They should be proficient with other weapons in the unit as well as their own. They should also be familiar with foreign-made weapons they are apt to meet in battle. In the close fight, infantrymen must be skilled in the employment of all weapons (rifles, bayonets, LAWs/AT4s, grenades, mines, and even their bare hands). They must be totally confident in their ability to right with these weapons.

The strength of infantry units comes from the skill, courage, and discipline of the individual soldiers. The individual capabilities of these men are enhanced by the teamwork and cohesion in the squads and platoons. This cohesion is essential to the survival and success of our infantry units in close combat. It provides the infantryman's will and determination to persevere, to accept the hardships, and to refuse to accept defeat.

Hell yes, we want an infantry only night some Sunday!

    I would be completely interested.

I love infantry combat! some vehicles are ok at times, but I don't like the way things get carried away with them.

It always drives me nuts when friendly tanks relegate their use to machine-gunning infantry instead of engaging the hostile armored vehicles. Nobody's personal score is that important.

Re: Is there interest in an infantry day?

All infantry is a great idea. I'd even be down with only Humvee/Vodnik/littlebird and boats on ones with carriers and that river one with airdrop/whatever type light vehicles and not even APCS or the light attack choppers. Basically infantry and very light transport would make my day. I love Mestia because the forest really hampers the few APCs on the map.

I would definitely be game for an all infantry day with the right maps.
Just because everyone does something does not mean that it is right to do.

So, how do we make this happen? I haven't been involved in setting up a night for the server and don't know where to start. Who is the admin for the PR server that we could talk to about this?

Thumbs up Re: Is there interest in an infantry day?

    |TG-6th| eGoatBoy said he was going to try to organize the event. Can that be on a Sunday night European time?

Re: Is there interest in an infantry day?

How about the usuall "scrim-time" on Sundays?

And for an infantry night, we could also pull that "Street"-map out of the hat also that I ran into the other day. It would be interesting to try that one out during a PW-event. It would be relatively new to everyone, its CQB, and its infantry.
