Re: Sigs?
I'm going to necro this thread for 2010, both to show off my new sig as well as to offer my services to others.

Re: Sigs?
I would like to know how to make sigs. I have been searching TG for an answer to that question. I don't need someone to make one for me, but it would be nice if someone did. =)

Re: Sigs?
You need to know how to use an art editor program to make a good signature, like Paint.NET, GIMP, or Photoshop. I mean, you can make a simple one by cutting/pasting with Paint, but you aren't going to get too far that way. I'll make anyone a sig if they provide the information below:
Name:
Style:
Logo: (link to highest-quality, biggest-resolution-possible IHS Logo, if applicable)
P.S.: Fixed the mysterious black fog, Celestial. Turns out when I did the motion blur/glow on the huey, I accidentally had the Airborne logo on the same layer, so it applied the affect to both sides, and since the airborne logo's background wasn't transparent the black was fogged a bit. The black fog is supposed to exist on the Huey's side, though. Good eyes..

Re: Sigs?
I'm not going into web design for nothing. I've been working with web graphics for the past 5 years (learning Photoshop and etc), and I've got 20/20 when it comes to this stuff.
You've also got one miscolored pixel on the left side (above the left wing of the 23rd logo, white pixel inside the black background) and a partial-border on the right side (right of the huey's tail rotor, the border seems to shrink and then is cut off by a full border from the right margin). Your border overall seems a bit uneven; how are you putting in the border? If the black block itself is still on it's own layer, I'd suggest ctrl+clicking the preview icon for that layer, going to the select menu and go to the dropdown that gives you Expand. Use that, set to desired border size (1 or 2 pixels should work fine) and hit ok, make a new layer and fill with white.
I think that's it. After that, it's a fine sig (my personal preference in design aside
).

Re: Sigs?
Two sides are 1px, two sides are 2px. That was deliberate.

Name:Bastard
Style:Awesome? (I don't know. Stuff blowing up, Snipers, M4 carbines, skulls, anything badass. I do like it when the pics extend past the blocked background.) See, this is why I need help.
Logo: No in house squad. I did sign up for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Fan Club when I was eight. However, I don't think turtles are "badass" enough for a sig.
If I were to create my own sig, what would be its dimensions?Last edited by Bastard; 01-28-2010 at 07:01 PM. Reason: Forget the dimensions question. I found the answer. Who knew reading could be so useful?

Re: Sigs?
No, randy, I have to agree with celestial on this as far as star's sig goes.
mind you, i'm doing this with tools on my phone because my desktop is broke, but here are the problem areas I see (some also mentioned by celestial, see picture in post for reference)
1. vertical and horizontal border overlap and protrude from the apparent edge of the signature (notice the vertical sticks up higher than it should). also, horizontal border is shaded blue in only this section.
2. this is the errant white pixel that celestial was talking about
3. all of the other parts of the helicopter that exceed the box dimensions have a glow/shadow on them except for this tip of the rotor blade. makes my eyes hurt from the disparity.
oh, and one i didnt label: celestial was right about the border being uneven. the top border and bottom border pixel dimensions dont match. top border is 2px, bottom border is 1px.

Re: Sigs?
I'll fix the other problems, but the top and right are 2px whereas the bottom and left are 1px. That was the point, to give it an engraved kind of look.

Re: Sigs?
1px is a horrid size for borders, if at the very least not used completely evenly. It feels like a fingernail of border, disrupting the edges more than adding variety.
At least try out 3px top/sides and 2px left/bottom. That might work out better for you. +Points if you add subtle shading to the border, it will actually give it some depth.Last edited by Celestial1; 01-29-2010 at 03:48 AM.
