If points ever become a problem, you guys could try scripting the scoreboard out completely or something like that. Arbitrary numbers shouldn't influence the gameplay.

Agreed. I just know there was a lot of anger and resentment when the scoreboard was removed from BF2 Tactical Mod.
"I just want to know how I did!!"
"Did your team win?"
"No"
"You didn't do well, then..."

OK to amend my post from last night, I am adapting to the the game, and am liking it a lot. It's definitely a steeper learning curve than BF2, but I'm already seeing progress and getting my bearings. And learning how to read that map.

Good fun on there tonight guys. This will indeed be a fun fun game when played the TG way.

Playing on the beta servers without TG folks is like herding cats; teamwork is almost nowhere to be found. So although I had a lot of frustration early on, things improved greatly when TG players arrived. I can't wait until we can play Red Orchestra on our own servers!

Good games last night, guys. The battles on Stalingrad were especially good, with TG folks on both sides really duking it out. Barring any unforseen problems, there are only a few days to go until release!

I won't be able to play as much as I have the last 3 or 4 days as my significant other is coming back from her Florida work trip tonight. Oh well, the tons of PC time was fun while it lasted. She has a bachelorette party this Saturday night though so I'll definitely be interested in playing then. Can't wait till next week when we get to play new maps.

Last nights games were pretty fun. I was getting owned again on Arad, I really need to practice shooting tanks. When Tzefanya and I were clearing the hallway leading into the assembly hall on Stalingrad the game felt just like America's Army. The leaning around the corners and taking a few shots then getting back to cover quickly, just like AA.

Yeah, last night was the first night I really felt like I was 'in' the game enough to contribute. I still have to learn to slow my movement down and I really need to work on reading the map.

I also played that 3rd map for the first time last night, in Germany with all the CPs ending in 'Platz' (which I guess translated to 'West Plaza', 'South Plaza', etc.), and with the fountain in the middle. Allied was assault (my team) and we had to fight for every inch of the map. There were a couple points where I crawled prone for about 50 meters, since everyone on D was so well dug in. It was pretty freakin sweet.

yeah that was pretty fun.... on the urban map w/ the train yard, there were MGs deployed covering at least one or two "choke points" on the map... you got liquified if you tried going those routes

it's definitely starting to grow on me... though we'll have to see what it's like 16v16 with |TG|... even after I got my in game VOIP working, I still found myself alone more than half the time. That should get resolved real quick once there's more people on...
I also like how in the in-game VOIP it tells you what channel you're hearing... like if you hear someone say, "contact through the door and to the right" with the "LOCAL" indicator flashing... you know it's someone near you and to watchout.
the one thing I DONT like (and this was mentioned by someone else in game) is that when you swtich between the different channels, there's no indication where you switched to. You have to actually press the PTT key and see on which channel you're TXing.

One thing that can help out your teammates -- before you give a SITREP, check your grid location on your map, and then include that information in your report. Saying something like, "Strag has machinegun deployed at Charlie Six, covering Northeast" can help your buddies form a good mental picture of the battlefield. When we get more organized team play going here on our own servers, this will be especially helpful to the map Commanders.

Alone on the battlefield - go read Richard Holmes sometime

It is amazing how fast everyone within 6 feet of you vanishes when the bullets whip by... leaving you wondering who designated "chief decoy"...Alan Wilson
