14 March - A Series of Bewildering Maps

Ok, so beta testers aside, this was pretty much everyone's first time playing the game. I know I was pretty much lost the entire time.

That said, some highlights included my first kill (I can't remember the victim, but I shot him in the leg on the winter airport level) and shooting Bubba.

Also, learning to drive the halftrack with perry was somewhat amusing, as we were foiled several times by corners of buildings and fences and things like that.

Something else that I found to be really confusing was the different channels for VOIP. It is going to take some getting used to in order to understand who is saying what when. Also, it appears that the "Vehicle" channel is a test only channel (am I wrong on this?). Of course, you can simulate a vehicle voice channel by just using the local options I would guess.

Another confusing element at first was the map, but it became much clearer when I realized there was a handy red arrow indicating my position and orientation.

So what about everyone else? What were your first impressions of the game? Highs and lows? Any tips out there that someone found worked well? Anything that guaranteed an early death?

Assume good faith - Be polite, please! - Work toward agreement. - Argue facts, not personalities. - Concede a point when you have no response to it, or admit when you disagree based on intuition or taste. - Be civil. - Be prepared to apologize. In animated discussions, we often say things we later wish we hadn't. Say so. - Forgive and forget. - Recognize your own biases and keep them in check. - Give praise when due.

Very similar experience to yours Dice. The learning curve is a bit steep but in a couple of weeks I think we'll have some really fun games. I didn't care for the big tank maps but that's partially because I am still trying to get used to the infantry part of it. Once I get comfortable I'll try tackling a tank. Changing the sound settings to 3d (and taking it off of the hardware) did wonders for my VOIP performance, which had been terrible until then. I just stay in the team channel.

I've found a love and talent for the tank's main gun . I was dropping shells on other tank's heads like mad but i forgot the map and who was driving .

    As for tips:
    1. lean is your friend
    2. If you go into a building with a bolt action, AFIXX BAYONETS!!
    3. Stay in your class's natural environment (i.e don't try to clear a building with a sniper rifle)
    4. Keep you weapon rested on something
    5. Use the coordinate system to it's fullest when spotting targets and giving info.

There are probably more i could think of but i have homework and i need to stop putting it off.

That was me, just before you blew yourself up with a grenade.

I had a tough time with it as well. I spent the entire evening being lost. I really enjoyed the tanks but I didn't enjoy TK'ing one of our tanks I had a hard time picking out who was who and it led to a bit of frustration. I haven't even figured out how the heck to win games. Maybe I should read the manual again.
